I've found myself to be unbelievably confused as to how the staking works on ICP. I just clicked start dissolving and lost all of my locked bonus? So where exactly did that go? Jerry, you have to realize that near no one that follows you will likely stake for 8 years, show other time frames of doing this. I also am confused because I set dissolve delay for 90 days and basically calculates out me earning absolutely nothing from staking? All in all, I would say there staking option is rather confusing and not straight forward at all. Requires more than a sub 2-min video and the one you made some odd months ago is again only focused on an 8 year stake.
I'm also unsure why you wouldn't just start immediately dissolving because any 'locked bonus' will be completely gone upon clicking 'start dissolving', again makes no sense at all. In a 'Locked' state you can't take any of the locked bonus or unstake your ICP, as far as I can tell you only have the option to 'start dissolving', so how exactly does one get any of their locked bonus ever if you have to start dissolving which zero's out your locked bonus? Am I missing something here? I feel like I'm getting completely screwed
@@matthewstone6816 It is very clearly stated on the NNS that you don’t earn rewards for the final 6 months of having a staking positioning so there is really no point in staking for less. That being said, you didn’t get screwed you still have your ICP it might as well have been unstaked thougg
The second you dissolve the neuron you lose your voting power, now that the dissolve has begun you aren’t locked in for the 8 years anymore so you don’t earn the rewards. So best thing to do is make it to the end of your 8 year investment and THEN start dissolving. I’m not sure if you can keep the staked maturity or not, that’s why I’m here. But even if you can’t, it does help the voting power by auto staking new maturity especially if you’re not earning a lot, that way you will be earning more rewards than what you bought in for and eventually you can change that setting at any time in order to spawn more, new maturity. (that you can pull out) Still trying to figure it out myself hopefully that helps🤷🏻♂️

I locked up for 6 months, and dissolved mine 1 month ago. Glad I dissolved. I don't get ANY more rewards since I only dissolved for 6 months, something I didn't know before doing it. Basically, it wasn't worth it, and a risk to lock it up and not have access. I think their staking process is HORRIBLE. If you have you're locked up, you best hit that dissolve button soon or you are going to miss the bull run. And with where things are going in this world, to lock up for a long period of time is pretty dumb *unless* you are already financially independent and retired. But even that, most of these people are clueless anyhow with the digital gulag and draconian overreach that is coming. Unless you are living on the land, you'll be capitulating to all kinds of things they have planned. And all the money in the world isn't going to do you squat. For a space that is so "anti" government over reach, they sure are clueless. The preppers on the other hand are doom and gloom 24/7. You gotta have a balance between the 2, and 90% of both sides are clueless about the other.

Don't be ridiculous, there are a million votes on trifle nonsense every day - why would anyone make a video on that. You should not vote manually at all, because you are bound to miss out on votes, and then not get credit. Automate your votes by following Dfiniti and forget about it.
Jerry, can you go in to depth about all that you just said? As far as 8 yr dissolve delay. Does that mean it’s locked for 8 yrs. Once 8 yrs is up does that mean it will take another 8 years to unstake?

So I’ve staked ICP for 12months, I assume after the 12 months I can then cash out all of my holding including my new rewarded coins? I have no idea about the voting rewards, I just gave those to Dfinity, am I missing something?

Press dissolve when you hit 12 months because it takes 6 months so your bag is ready to be unlocked. Unfortunately in the last 6 months of your term ICP will not be giving you rewards. ICP believes staking is more for the long term investors rather than short term. Hope this helps. Stake mine for 4 years as I would like to see it until the next bull run for more rewards and price hike in thousands by the next bull run.
