Thank you guys for this, I dont have a back seat AC, and on longer drives I often worry my big dog will get too hot. Thank you for this thorough review.
I did not buy this item to cool any areas, but for when I lose power during spring/summer storms in N Texas. I turned off my home AC, and just ran it blowing on me sitting in my chair as if I lost power. And I have to say it is perfect for this purpose. I don't expect something like this to cool a room, or RV space, I just want it to cool me, and I see having it as a plus...Thanks for the video though...
Just ordered an ultimate this week. It’s for my classic Camaro. A Vintage Aire system is roughly $3000. Now I’ll have a/c in the car for drives to car shows. AND a/c in my chair sitting by my car! For $600 ! Can’t wait!
Hello from Naples, Florida. Very interesting! Don't know much about these, but it looks pretty neat. Great presentation. Thanks for sharing with us, have a great week 👍 💯 ❤
I have the Ultimate and I’ll tell anyone that the mister that comes attached to it is the game changer. If you had a unit with a mist attachment your garage/workout room would significantly cool down. The mist can reach a larger area and with that cold water it dramatically lowers the temperature to anything it touches.
Loved this review! I appreciate it because I would be PO'd spending that kinda money and it didn't do a significant change in temp inside a medium space. But I do admit I still am considering purchasing this because I don't like going anywhere outside in summer but maybe this might help if I really do want to go outside. I'm in TN so this humidity on top of 99 degrees is a killer, I want to go to the state fair this year but in August at this temperature and humidty has me running for the hills.
We really think that it would be helpful out doors if it is blowing on you directly. It does kick out some cold but focused air. While it wasn’t great at cooling off large spaces, we do see it useful for things like sitting at an outdoor concert or at the beach. Also, we are 100% not sponsored or affiliated…just FYI.
When they start making them things using a 62 quart ice chest and a little bit larger one like 120 quart ice chest with bigger, and. More powerful fans, and more ice, then things will really start cooling down inside the travel trailers, the back of pickups, and car cabs and pick up cabs
Great video. I am trying to cool down a small bedroom/office space that does not have a way to exhaust warm air out (sliding glass door only), in addition also cool down a 2 car garage gym. Live in central Florida so humidity is a big thing. Any solutions you found useful for either of these scenarios? Would a swamp cooler work for the garage? Any suggestions appreciated.
I think this may be a good option for the small bedroom, the only issue I see is dealing with the cooler full of water. I don’t feel like it was very effective for our garage. We were really hoping that this would be a good option for our garage gym, but it just wasn’t suitable for that application.
The form factor of the battery looks the same as a Dewalt 20v. Is it 20v? It they did that, brilliant. They would sell a lot more of these AC units if so.
For $300, you can get a 9000 btu 110v portable air conditioner.. they even make a portable now that runs off of its own battery packs, sort of like a Ryobi. Which would be much more convenient in this situation, where you need it for compact spaces. Which you could vent out of a car or truck window or the window of a RV. Not to mention, take it with you wherever you go. With the only caveat being, you need somewhere to plug it in. But you can plug it into a battery pack and be fine for many hours. Especially if you have solar or a vehicle to charge that battery pack.. which would make it great for comfortable camping. For which I’ve seen people use them. I just think at $300, you’re buying a glorified ice chest with a fan, which you could easily make yourself for pennies on the dollar.. Depending on your temperature, you’re going to be needing to change out that ice quite frequently. You could buy a nice large cooler, for $50 and cut a hole in it and get a decent fan to glue into it… That a battery pack could charge for days, not a week or more. Depending on the power draw. So altogether, you might spend $50-$70 for the cooler and fan, you could get a power pack for $100 that would suit this situation just fine. Saving half of the money and making it better than the store-bought. I guess it just really depends on the person and the situation. But I think there are much better solutions than $300 for something like this. Especially for convenience in hotter situations where the ice may melt really fast. Where are you would have to constantly be feeding it ice and draining it. Which may be very inconvenient depending on the situation.
Valid points, we aren’t sponsored and just wanted to give our own perspective based on temperature and humidity changes in various sized spaces in extreme conditions.
This isn’t made to replace a mini A/C unit. It’s made to use in situations when A/C isn’t an option. Beaches, tailgates, boats, camping in a tent, etc. The ice melt is an issue, but it’s a fantastic personal A/C unit.
we totally agree with your assessment. It’s not a home unit, but a great option for things like golf carts, outdoor events, or at the beach. While it not cool a house, it sure makes hot days on links way more enjoyable.
I don't know if it would be efficient in phoenix metro area it is 114 degres here for 1 month and tge monsoon seseon bringb a high level of humidity this year we sweat day and night so i need to check if it can to handle a suv who feel like 150 degres oven inside🤔😐
I'm in Orlando. Got the $500 one. Not very impressed. It doesn't even cool the cab of my truck. Goes through 10 lbs of ice in about 2 hrs. Not worth it in Florida.😂
My Naigbor got one and let me try if while working on putting a new ac in my 19’ camper 😁I was in in out of the camper several times and I got no relief unless I put my face right in it👀which meant I was getting no work done🥱after a few hours I got the new ac in and it cooled me and the camper down to 65 degrees within minutes 🤗
Nooooo! Don’t say that! I’m in Orlando too and mine is coming tomorrow! But I did buy the weather pod to go with it. I want to buy another battery but not sure if where or what kind to buy.
Well it was about $300 and it actually dehumidified the air…I guess the other selling point is that it is easily transported and can hold drinks or snacks. But we aren’t sponsored and gave our honest opinion about it.
We tried it in a 21 foot hauler and it didn’t change the temp bit did drop the humidity. It really is best for direct air blowing on a person rather than cooling a space.
Looks more like an evaporate cooler as it uses ice and water, a/c has a compressor and freon, evaporate coolers work great in the desert due to low humidity.
That’s what I thought as well, but the company’s website says that it has a heat exchanger and that makes it an AC rather than a swamp cooler. But I’m not professional. Just an end user giving it an honest look for functionality.
@TheFirstTimers hhmmm, I lived in the desert for 25 years, I used evaporate coolers and they were great, they generally cool about 30 degrees from air temp, a/c units will cool much more, the unit they are sponsored by is pretty nice due to portability.
I think that’s what made this one pretty neat, the humidity is so high here, but it helped reduce that. But just to be clear, we aren’t sponsored at all by this company.
Not necessarily, the change in humidity was pretty big and our test was only for 30 mins in 90+ degree temps. So I would say that our test was probably worst case scenario. If the space is small enough or if it is blowing direct on people, then it would be a good move.
I use mine in my postal vehicle and it’s great. The mist feature is something you’d need. I have the Ultimate and it has that feature. This is a must have for jobs like ours. You won’t regret it. Get one that has that feature. Mist is a Must!
