In this edition of ID That Tree, we’re going to introduce you to a native species that can be found in the northern part of Indiana near Lake Michigan. Grey birch can be defined by its long and pointed triangular shaped leaves with toothed margins on the edges. It has very limber twigs and the leaves are arranged alternately. The fruiting flower structure can be identified as a catkin.
