Un caso di riferimento di come il rigore della struttura nulla perde in limpidezza nonostante la capacità della pianista di mantenere sempre una certa cantabilità persino nella mano sinistra, a questi livelli merce rara. Veramente, veramente, veramente brava, "idee chiare e distinte" eppure sempre con un certo... sentimento. Buona anche la timbrica dello strumento - appena forse fuori tono, peccato per la registrazione che non rende giustizia a un'esecuzione... bellissima.
She articulates the bass notes with her left so perfectly. This is the only performance I’ve heard which does this which such precision and musicality.

I am currently learning this. Got the Prelude done, and just starting the Fugue. This wonderful arrangement has helped me a bunch! She plays it crystal clear, and just the right speed I think. I can actually follow her note for note while reading the music, and I have been able to figure out all the areas that I needed some help with the timing. Thank you ! Most people play Bach too fast. I know I am as old as a dinosaur, but back in the day, the artists didn't speed through Bach quite like they do today. You cant even hear most of the notes when they play so fast. Its a garbled up mess. This recording is beautiful. And I am LEARNING from it! Wonderful!

I really like the singing lower voice that you brought out from the piece, it is a true discovery which set you apart from other pianist. Moreover, i even think it is a pianistic advantage over organ to be able to play all the voices with such colorful varieties.

I have never heard this piece played so well, and it is so clear, melodic and majestic played on this piano (Yamaha? and perfectly tuned), so much clearer and defined vs on organ. Greetings from Canada!

At last I found this SPECTACULAR Bach rendition you have produced where all the interlocking melodies are actually presented perfectly. Thank you so much for this gem.
Today I listened to this lovely rendition again. I really enjoy the Maintenance of the cadence throughout the piece instead of the excess. artificial slowing and speeding up as if it were a ballad as in modern pop music. I’m 85 years old now and I do believe your rendition is much more preferable and in line with the composers original intent. The modulations of the themes provide all the emphasis required to make the music very interesting IMHO. Thanks again.
Ho ascoltato tantissime interpretazioni di questo preludio e fuga e, da organista, ogni volta sentivo l'organo dietro e mi accorgevo che a quelle interpretazioni "mancava" la potenza e il senso della coralità dell'organo. Per caso sono arrivata a questa interpretazione: wow! Sta in piedi da sola e interpreta magistralmente la coralità dell'organo senza richiamarlo, senza farne sentire la mancanza! Credo tu abbia trovato veramente il senso di questo pezzo sul pianoforte. Bravissima davvero!
Vorrei aver scoperto prima questo video. Come appassionato dell'organo, conosco da sempre la versione originale della 543, ma ora posso dire che dopo averla ascoltata sul pianoforte ho capito cose che prima non vedevo...

Cantabilità limpida e pulita ma senza trascendere in toni neoromantici, bassi cristallini e presenti senza eccedere nel volume, tempo perfetto, equilibrio generale dell'esecuzione da ricordare. Rigorosa senza mai diventare algida o "notarile", coinvolta ma con pacatezza e profondità. Ma che bella esecuzione, sino ad ora la mia preferita per pianoforte. Bravabravabravabrava. Anche Liszt non ha esagerato (come invece Busoni sulla Ciaccona...)

Magnificent! A Yamaha piano... I realize the limitations of RU-vid audio, but it seems to have a richer, clearer sound in the upper bass/low tenor range than the "famous" make, and was equally good as the "famous" brand in every other area. Amazing.

Bach would have applauded this performance, which demonstrates a dimension unreachable on the organ because the piano is touch sensitive. Your interpretation and impeccable performance is a continuing joy to me.
Bravo ! Un jeu d'une clarté remarquable, cette interprétation mérite le détour et Dieu sait qu'il y a pléthore à propos de cette partition. Ce prélude et fugue est de toute beauté, j'ai dû l'écouter sous toutes ses formes plus d'un millier de fois.

It is well worth while listening carefully to the way she expounds the opening subject of the fugue. She treats it very much as a dance theme - three beats of surging legato motion followed by three well-marked beats akin to heavy foot steps on an imaginary floor. This pattern is then clearly brought out in each voice and at subsequent times in the piece. Clever isn't it?

Je connais cette oeuvre sur le bout des doigts, c'est d'ailleurs ma fugue préférée. Votre interprétation du prélude est tout simplement parfaite, magnifique, somptueuse, remarquable, jamais entendu aussi bien, au delà d'Hélène Grimaud. Je préfère un rythme plus soutenu pour la fugue, mais rien à dire quant à votre interprétation qui a l'avantage de bien révéler les petites subtilités de la main gauche. Merci et bravo.
