Our trip to Idaho Falls, Idaho did not disappoint! A few years ago my family and I started this new tradition where every summer we pick a flight on Allegiantair.com to a state that our kids have never been to. Allegiant departs right out of the local airport by our house in Queen Creek, Arizona (Mesa Gateway) so it makes these adventures so fun and affordable and a great opportunity to find some cooler weather when it’s 115 in Arizona. This summer we picked Idaho falls Idaho, this was one of the lowest priced flights on their site and it’s actually such a convenient location close to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the West Yellowstone entrance in Montana. This has honestly one of our favorite family vacations. Here are some travel tips:
We booked our flight and rental car from Allegiant air, the rental car rates were lower than Costco (where we usually book). We got off the plane and loved the green and fresh cool temperatures. For the first three nights we stayed in Victor Idaho at Teton Valley Resort, they have these cute cabins and we booked one with a loft that had three twin beds that our boys loved. It was so convenient having a kitchen and there was even a community pool. This was a short drive to the little town of Victor and Jackson hole area which was one of my favorite places. Keep in mind Victor shuts down by 9pm, even the gas station is closed so make sure you plan around that. We got in late the first night and had to go to bed without dinner LOL. The first day we booked a scenic rafting tour through Barney Ewing scenic floats and it was beautiful!
We saw so much wildlife which our boys loved it!
We went on the Jenny lake ferry to hike hidden falls and the inspiration point, this was a beautiful hike and very kid friendly with incredible views of the waterfalls.
We then drove to the Bar T 5 which was a fun covered wagon drive to a cookout and show. The kids loved it. My husband and I both agreed it wasn’t something we’d do again and the food was not great but was something different to do.
I loved walking around downtown Jackson Hole, so many great restaurants and there was also the cowboy coaster at snow king mountain with a ropes course.
We then drove to Montana to spend our next few nights by the West Yellowstone entrance. We stayed at the Kelly Inn, it was a basic hotel but a great location and offered bunk bed rooms. Perfect for our family of 5.
We spent one day at Yellowstone, we hiked several trails and saw some of the popular sites. We really only needed one day here.
The next day was my favorite part of the trip. We found a 6 seater UTV rental at high mark rentals which is right off of this extensive trail system that you could ride for days.
Overall this was such a fun trip and we’d highly recommend!
