Body paragraph 1: 1) not fast->requires a lot of physical effort->only physically fit people can use 2)not ideal for long distances->slow and exhausting->if people use, they are late for work or... Body paragraph 2: 1)building modern and convenient bike tracks->encourages more people, while traffic jam is stressing for them 2)taxing cars and limiting traffic in rush hours->deters people from driving taxi
thank you for sharing this with us!! I was having difficulties with generating ideas and developing them but your technique made this seem like a piece of cake. I'll be taking my IELTS academic UKVI next Saturday and I'll use this method while practising for the writing
Temperature can be really high in some countries to the level that prevent people form using their bicycles as a method of transportation. For example, In Dubai, which is near the equator, temperature often reach 50 degrees Celsius, especially during summer, and it is hard to be outdoor during day time.
Hello Lar! Thank you very much for your guidance. I’d really glad if you could go through my essay plan Here’s my essay plan : Idea 1: cycling is exhausting > people cannot travel long distances> also if they have extra luggage it will be twice as exhausting to cycle with their briefcases, bags etc. for example, most citizens in Hyderabad commute a distance of at least 10km on a daily basis carrying laptops, briefcases, other books. They find cycling with the weight of luggage very exhausting. Idea 2: cycling is not ideal during intense weather conditions> bikers get drenched in the rain > protracted heat waves can cause sun strokes and also direct exposure to pollution compared to car where passenger is in an enclosed space. > overall unsafe since we are directly exposed to the environment > for example, in Bangalore, bikes are hardly rented for over one third of the year due to prolonged monsoons. Idea 3: Better cycling tracks that are surrounded by green belts to reduce effects of pollution, and refreshment areas with raincoats, energy drinks and lockers to store valuable items. Idea 4: Govt can offer tax benefits to citizens who use cycles on a daily basis
Thanks a lot, teacher for this video. You have explained ideas so easily. I always get confused while generating ideas. I start to write an essay following the ideas I generate but get stuck in between. I have 1 month left till my IELTS exam and worried a lot, especially about the writing. I got only 6 bands in my previous exam, on that exam I failed to write the conclusion in part 2 because I spent more than 30 minutes in part 1 and ran out of time while writing part 2😞 and need individual 7 band for my higher education.
You'll need to practise writing a Task 1 and a Task 2 essay in one hour before you do your test. That way, you'll be more comfortable with doing this on test day. If you'd like more support to make sure you pass the test next time, I have 1-on-1 services. You can send me an email if you need it.
Hi Lar, Thank you for this amazing video. Regarding the task: Why is this the case ? would be due to weather , time , distance, tiring , or single passenger . What can be done about this problem? I have zero ideas !! what to do then?
Hi Lar, Thank you for the video, its been helpful to have such constructive ideal generation strategy. Here is my attempt on the task. Ideal 1: bicycles take too much time to reach destination, take too much energy to reach destination, won’t be comfortable if there is no place to shower after cycling, Bicycles are too easy to be stolen, too danger to ride a bike on busy street because lot of cars, Ideal 2: better infrastructure to make sure people are safe on the road (Government can design bike lane better or increase the bike length on the street, or enforce biker to use helmet and indication lights), charge extra fee on petrol or public transport (not specific because people can walk or taxi instead) , provide financial support on people buying bicycles( not specific because this dose not mean people will just change to use bicycles) Thank you, Will
@@LarRyan Hi Lar, yes that is correct. I was listing all the ideals that I can think of and trying to decide if its relevant and specific enough. For all the ideals I listed under Ideal 1, I felt they all relevant and specific but can't be 100% sure. Could you please kindly share your opinion on if all the ideal I listed are relevant and specific. Thank you, Will
How many ideas do I need? 2 Number of paragraphs: 4 (Introduction, reason for the problem, solution, conclusion) Main idea 1 (The Reason): People value travel in comfort -> How/Why? It is human nature to pursue comfort ->, e.g., Cycling to the office every day would start to feel too tired. Main idea 2 (The Solution): Introduce benefits for cyclists-> How/Why? Financial gains would pursue people ->, e.g., The mobile app to track cycling distances and offer credit that can be redeemed at supermarkets.
Hi Indunil. The first example should be about comfort, not about being tired, so it doesn't exemplify the main idea. The second main idea is too vague, and you should specifically say which benefit you're referring to instead. Besides that, everything else is appropriate.
1: slower than others means. Why, it rely on the physical ability of the rider. e.g same 5mins trips in car takes 40mins on bicycle. 2. Governments should encourage bicycle manufacturers to produce hybrid bikes.why. Faster and more convenient for all people. Tesla produced a model of hybrid bikes and many people confirmed they will buy it if they can afford it
@@niloofarpalhang5131 As long as you are getting feedback from an expert, that's fine. I was just concerned that you might have been guessing. Have you been planning your essays before you write them?
Q1 Main Idea: cycling takes longer time and reduces resting time How/why: speed for riding a bike can reach around 10km/hr while driving a private vehicle can reach 50km -100km/hr --> example: for a 20km distance of travel, bike takes 2 hrs while a car takes only 10 mins Q2 Main Idea: public promotion of cycling as a leisure activity or an exercise How/why: cycling become part of extra-curriculum when time is not a matter --> example: cycling in countryside with friends during weekends
Both your ideas are fine, but only the development of the first one is appropriate. For the second idea, you've described the outcome, but you need to explain how it will work.
@@LarRyan Thanks so much Teacher Ryan. I would change the explanation to govt can launch a promotional campaign to point out the benefits of cycling as a cardio exercise and area that people can cycle with beautiful view while gathering to attract everyone to cycle
Main idea 1: distances are greater for work than before. Why? Cities are bigger due to crowdness F.e. Nowadays people find fewer jobs on the same coast of the Istanbul and have to pass Bosphorus Main idea 2: to advertise to the people that using bicycle is more environmental How? It releases less carbon monoxide F.e. Reports say that Amsterdam’s air is cleaner than Istanbul’s air.
Your first idea is good. For the second idea, you explain how bicycles are better for the environment, but you need to explain how advertising will get more people to cycle.
@@LarRyan Dear Sir, please explain the function of the explanation sentence in more detail. With the main idea "distances are greater for work than before", should I explain "why greater distances lead to fewer bicycles used" or "why distances are greater"?
Idea1-they feel inferior if they ride a bicycle.why bcz most of their friends travel by their own car.ex-my friend once traveled to his workplace by cycle he was forced to avoid this as it ruins their image Solution -govt should construct separate lane for cyclist.provide subsidies.ex-in Italy cyclist are exempted to pay tax
I am basically from India. Here people think that the Indian ielts examiners do not give the correct bands to the speaking and the writing modules. they give always less bands
@@LarRyan I thought I was derated and argued without success🥲 But your videos helped me understand why😭This series is great! I especially love this one, because you explain all these question types and provide detailed demonstrations to help us understand❤
1reason...... Cheepest means of transportation and pollution free means of transportation. 2..... Good for health, people who are health conscious ,obiesously they are using bicycles. 3...…._people should be aware about the benefits of bicycles, intsead of other expensive means of transportation by the Government.
