Hi Jerry! As a licensed electrical contractor I've explored several different methods for correcting apprentices/helpers. The method you just described is the best by far. It sounds like you have some experience in these type of matters as well.

Bill. Maybe you could explain 250.119 or at least why Jordan did what he did. Couldn’t he use the incoming EGC from the SO cord and connect it to the box? That would the ground the box and the EMT would be the bond. Then there would not be a need to run a white wire to act as a ground wire, right? Additionally, depending on the type of 3-way switches (self-grounding or not), the 6-32 screw could bond the device to the already-bonded box, right? Or he could connect a bare copper wire from the box to the device? And the white wire needs a “continuous outer finish” that is green. Sounds like using green tape would not satisfy. I don’t think the extra white wire was necessary. Maybe you could do another video and elaborate.

Shouldn’t there be a neutral provided in each switch box for future upgrade to electronic switches? I figured that was why he ran the extra white, but apparently not.

He already had a neutral in each box, so that was taken care of.

NEC 404.2 requires a grounded conductor in switch boxes. There are a couple exceptions though. One is if conductors are installed in raceway so a grounded conductor can be added later, you do not need to install it during initial installation. The way this installation is layed out, it's already there though.

Try hitting the trip button and then resetting the GFCI. If not then you could have a loose wire, or a bad GFCI.

A miserable mean foreman could turn off any new or old electrician from wanting to perform electrical work. Thise dudes are packing aome GG Allin size pencils down there. They all suffer from SPS Small Pěnis Syndrome But in all seriousness these miserable foramen should not be allowed for this position. They need to learn how to deescalate situations rather than escalate the situation. They're not happy with their home personal life or any part of their life for that matter and they take it out on young apprentices sometimes even old-school electricians who know more than they do. That needs to change right now. Who wants to go to work everyday and working for a miserable boss or Forman? I sure as hell don't

The ground is the same gauge as the neutral just market it so you know it's the ground and hook it up to the green screw with electrical tape I have four different ones

The company I work for preaches quality over speed. We're an ESOP company and we take great pride in our work. We are the preferred vendor of 2 NCAA universities, military bases, and Walmart. We do a lot of rework from other companies that obviously blast through a job and half ass it to get done quicker though.

It depends on the master electrician that is very willing to show you the ropes an the school, my school didn't teach me much which is a shame but my first boss taught me soo much about residential , my new boss hasn't taught me much about commercial which is a shame

This was a cool experience for the apprentices, but now a days all I see is a bunch of installers from these bad schools everywhere they know nothing about teaching the code or showing them any common sense. I have this 5th year apprentice that all he does is cut and add couplings everywhere. He has no common sense as to running conduit. Or how things should be strapped. Even after I keep showing him how to properly bend.

You’re doing a competition that grades you on workmanship and you let romex look like that. No wonder I have an anxiety attack every time I have to hire an electrician. I mean this isn’t hourly shit, how hard is it to get it to fold neatly, guess what not that hard, I do fiber and ribbons are just like that and we have to make them sit a lot more flat.
