The water moccasin also known as a cotton mouth is easy to identify but there is a water snake that looks very similar.
Water moccasin has cat eyes
wide head at back shaped like a triangle
skin changes color from baby to adult some can look more dull black brownish gray.
Water snake can look like a moccasin but
has round eyes
head it longer and slender oval head not flared out at back of head.
