Identifying the Orange Grisette, Amanita Crocea and the Death Cap Amanita phalloides.

Rats, I just came across a load of Orange Grisettes. I thought that was what they were, but I always lose my nerve around Amanitas. (I accidentally ate a False Death Cap, thinking it was something else. When I realised my mistake I broke out in a sweat I can tell you. Incidentally, the flavour of the False Death Cap was amazing - like roasted chestnuts. But since that time I have admired the Amanitas from afar). * Just been out collecting lots of lovely Chanterelles. Last year, we were inundated with Boletes, and yet hardly a one has grown this year. But Chanterelles seem to be especially plentiful this Autumn.

I found this an easy mushroom to identify, they have a few good identify features.

What a beautiful colour, I have never seen one IRL. I love your videos, they are clear, concise and informative and have been invaluable to me as a new-ish cautious forager of about 5 or 6 years now I think.

Hi from Denmark! I enjoy mushroom hunting, mostly just for identification, and I love your videos because the species You have are to a large degree the same we have here. I found what I thought was an old tawny grisette last day but it had a skirt so definitely wasn't :) Very much the same brown color as a grisette but another amanita. Only wild mushroom I've ever eaten has been the chanterelle, and only a few times. Personally I don't want to bother eating anything unless it offers a taste experience that sets it apart from the cheap mushrooms I can find in the shop, which are quite tasty.

Ive just found a load of young blackening polypore ,very similar to cow.

Iv always considered the cap colour of the death cap to be an almost (but not quite) metallic grey/green in appearance. That often fades once the cap has opened. But it was the first thing that jumped out at me when I came across my first one. Tiny little thing it was as well. I kinda expected its stature to mirror its notoriety. But the ones I found were quite dinky and unassuming, and also in a communal garden opposite where lived. Interestingly that same garden also has a small amount of amanita inopinata and I'll be very impressed if you've ever seen one of those as they're quite a rarity but seem to thrive in my little town.

Is the skirt on A. Phaloides easily detachable? Just trying to get it clear in my head.

Surprised you didn't mention the recent poisoning in Australia. Also, wouldn't Caesars amanita be worth mentioning alongside these?
