Tbh I love the old one probably more, I love the horror and gore to it. Also I like the idea of Jack actually having fog, I would be happy if he at least had fog in the map for special effects
Back then when the ripper had this effect, everyone was complaining he sucked because you can just move out of the fog zone and that's why he got a buff. I swear people just can't be happy with anything. Back then the top hunter used was the joker, then geisha came out, then it was joker and geisha. Ripper wasn't used because he sucked, he only can use his skill in the fog zone where the survivor needed to stay for a certain amount of time to acquire and his hit box sucked. That's why the devs buffed him and it was around season 3 I can't remember, most of the top hunters were then using him only. There was a period where there were a lot of dream witches that's a whole other story. Now it's more diverse compared to the past. I think I'm happier with it
@@user-pw9bd3uc1f oh I understand that, Jack definitely sucked in the earlier seasons of the game. But I just wish there was some fog effect that the map could have, like the fog doesn’t even have to do with any of his skills. But I think it would be a nice detail to add to the game

she was so much fun to use back then. now she's not even blind, and her only disability is being slightly slower than everyone else. 😔 i hardly ever even use her these days unless everyone else chooses literally anything other than a decoder character so i have to do the work 😂
Here are the old things I remember long ago: 1) Magician used to have terror shock if he uses the wands when invisible. 2) Magician used to have a rescuing debuff where it takes 40% longer for survivors to rescue. 3) Hunters cannot enter Priestess Portals. 4) Gamekeeper doesn't have traps or an ability to chain hook back then. 5) Geisha has to face a survivor to dash before she is given butterflies for more mobility. 6) Wu Chang doesn't have Infinite Nirvana back then. 7) Hell Ember's Fury was originally a China Exclusive ability before it was added to the Global Server due to popular demand from the community. 8) Doctor used to heal 1/2 of her health instead of 1/4 currently. 9) Emma doesn't have a shield and can permanently destroys the chair unless the hunter uses Abnormal to repair. 10) Thief's Flashlight doesn't silence hunter's abilities 11) Fallen Misfortune is an infamous persona that rewards Hunters for not camping as they have a chance to deal double damage to a survivor if they are far from the rocket chair. 12) Spectator was a final talent before it is replaced with Flywheel Effect. 13) Survivors' are aren't able to move if they are trapped in Soul Weaver's cocoon. 14) Soul Weaver used to have more freedom to place her web traps in any length she wants before it was nerfed to what we have now. 15) Survivors are forced to stay away from a survivor and the Violinist in order to remove his notes' debuff before it was nerfed for it to be removed by 40 seconds because Survivors don't know how to do it. 16) Feaster doesn't have Nightmare Gaze back then. 17) Axe Boy's Final Presence allows him to shoot Fireballs back after he absorbs it if he misses. This is before it is replaced where survivors are slowed when leaving his trees. 18) Lawyer used to get terror shock and can use his map indefinitely. Unfortunately, his map is less detailed and only reveals the survivors and cipher machines.
Soul weaver was a buff. Her webs although you can place them anywhere, were tedious. After the buff, her webs were more versatile. I remembered after the buff, soul weaver became used by every top hunter back then. And then her breaking pallet speed got nerfed
There was no trump card for hunter. So hunter always needed to beware of survivors faction incase they choose gardener🤣 I really love when the hunter surendered so quickly because we used 4 gardeners but when the hunter is ripper, we're doomed. I remember when I played against ripper, it was like I played PUBG :) And don't forget that hunter could see the survivor's heartbeat, so it was useless to use explorer😂😂
Priestess also had a lot of changes! Having unlimited portals to 10 LIMITED portals and back to unlimited again. also she used to put straight portal SO SLOW and it even shows an animation of you going through the walls Idv map also changed A LOT. like in eversleeping town inside one of the house didnt use to have a hole in the middle. pretty sure with comparisons, old idv maps look a lot different to what we have now. also let's not forgot about the TRAM which used to have detention like ability and can down you immediately when you get hit lmao! also eversleeping town school second floor used to be accessible!
My only wish is that they bring back the night mode...now I really wish I was there for that. The maps would be so much more fun to play in if the ambients were darker, just like Asylum
It’s annoying to play as a hunter in the dark tho lol, idk about you but i know many people like me struggle to see the damn survivor trail in asylum and dark woods, pretty unfair at times. Night mode is cool but if netease could find a way to improve that then im sure many other players would be all for it too. Yes we have our screens at a very high brightness setting.

Xd but thats the fun in using old helena, when she was actl legally blind lol and is difficult to use. Now she is basically same as other survivor but just b&w vision
thats what made her fun. it meant you had to more or less memorize every corner and area of the map and how to move around effectively. also, getting lost was part of the fun for me ngl 😂
tbh sometimes you can still trigger emma's old chair breaking animation with the calibration, plus im pretty sure peepers make her chair breaking slower too
DBD devs helped create IDV and you can see quite a bit of the DBD influence in the old version. I like the newer version more bc it makes IDV more its own game.

There's a video on Vimeo of the DBD devs talking about partnering up with NE to get it started and give them ideas. That's why IDV beta had darker maps, the noose style "hooks" like DBD and the hunters had chainsaw weapons n stuff like that. NetEase shaped it up after into what we have today 🙂
I would have definitely loved to play idv in its old days, the game has changed a lot but I really wished you put the chnages of the tram, i think it was my most favorite memories in idv where if you got run over by the tram you instantly get down, i really miss that
You can probably do some modding and stuff and play old version of IDV again cuz u can still download older versions of IDV not sure how far it goes but ye u just gotta change some stuff so u can disconnect it from the main servers. In simple words u can basically just create a clone of IDV old version by removing/changing the unnecessary things like app id etc. and make it offline.
From cool aesthetic horror game to overly shiny and ok skins, to fun to barely fun gameplay. Identity V has fallen from its peak a long time ago but it's still a good game noneless.
I remember when using the old Helena I used to stick to the walls when I didn't know the maps in order to find the exit gate, and in the 8vs2 mode when using the rugby ball it was a experience to remember because you didn't know where to head most of the time XD
@@hashtaglol6 She was! I am not sure if it isn't possible now because I haven't played 8vs2, but she was able to use rugby ball. It was very hard to do it because all the screen was dark and you could only barely see things at distance with enough focus, but with a rugby ball that increases speed it was most likely you would hit a wall on accident It was also funny to use the flare gun, a blind girl that is barely able to see is suddenly pointing a gun to you and threating you. Scary but also funny XD
Am I the only one who likes the newer version more? I think if it had stayed the old way it would have been hated for being way to similar to DBD, and maybe it wouldn’t have been able to get as many collabs as it can now
Bhvr helped make identity v so it makes sense that idv resembled dbd. I like some of the new things they have done with the game but I miss things like the barbbed wire for rocket chairs and the survivors actually scared of being launched into the stratosphere. I mean ffs ripper still has the old animations AS WELL AS the old SOUNDS of pulling the barbbed wire. Like dear God net ease you put allot of effort into things like hunter animations and skins, but ya can't update the older hunter chair animations?
Ya its wonky, but I appreciate idv's attempts to keep old stuff alive. This might not be one, they might just be lazy. Either way im happy to still see and hear the rope animation. (btw if noone noticed the rocket chairs in hide and seek have the ropes again!)
I've been playing this game relatively recently, so I can't judge. But judging by the video, the old version was much better. I can even say more atmospheric.
This brings me back I was there 😢 where Garden used to be my main, brake the chairs so my team mates can wiggle away from the hunter. I miss the old game at times it just bring me back memories and playing with teams. I stopped playing for 2 or 3 years now, since no one wants to play and they never fixed the servers or the cipher rush

The whole community made the game for children The game wasnt supposed to be 10+ The chair changed because of children in china were using wires (idk how they managed to do that)

Things I'd want back: Large Eversleeping Town (as it used to appear naturally in 8v2), Wires on rocket chairs, beta map trigger (with the exp cards in rank), and a few mature elements (I started the game around season 7-9)
Omg i remember i couldnt the minds eye in 2018 or 2020 (i dont remember) and i didnt remember why. Now i remember that it is because i could barely see lol (and also at that time the exit gates werent marked im pretty sure)
I have been playing the game since the beta the detective ised to have differnt shades of coats. It was so fun and non toxic back then lol. It was amazing
i love how everyone here is just talking about how much fun Helena was to use back then. i too was a loyal Helena main. i used her for every single match no matter what my teammates were using lol. they'd always get so mad at me because i was using her, but then they'd suddenly get real quiet after i carried all of them. 😂 she was such a fun character back then. challenging, but super fun nonetheless. now her only disadvantage is being slow. she's good at just about everything else. Deciphering, finding the hunter (really good for teammates,) she's still really good ngl, just less entertaining..
Dulu pertama kali main season 1 masih ada rasa ngerinya, suasananya juga ngeri biarpun cuma pake rocket chair apalagi pake helena sesat😂.. Sekarang rasanya kek biasa aja tapi gpplah.
I swear I had the calibration rocket chair not so long ago. Within this year is for sure. I clearly remember to be very surprised that such a thing exist. I'm pretty sure the match was against Wu Chang, so maybe one of his abilities made it like that?
Remember when u stayed still as minds eye and the screen was literally black, we could barely even see ourselves Or the treasure chests on lakeside village that gives u healing, speed boost and smth
Man if u think about those who played this when it came out had a lot of changes I was playing this in 2018 and I think ripper still had the circle of fog area that time still so like wow and man Joseph and wu chang came in I was like woah omg I'm loving this like I mean I already loved game mostly playing hunters lol but still like it was just so much that it's changed and some people have left the game lost interest in it for certain reasons but they do be missing out on all these things that I bet they be like woah so much has changed stuff that I wanted to happen but they aren't here to see it
I was so disillusioned when i came back to IDV a few weeks ago after not playing since like 2-3 years ? Really feels like the game just goes full on catering mode so it appeals more towards the general people while maintaining their esport scene with a more balanced meta. I was so bummed out that the ripper became this useless hunter when i used to play him all the time back then and just enjoying killing people from 20 meters away. Really ruined the game for me.
From a potentially peak horror game to a mid childish fan service game.. fell down real bad tho it had the potential to be one of the best games out there

Hey one with the hooks cause the game is already similar to dead by daylight and I think the hooking animations that the rocket chairs was just too similar to dead by daylight which I'm glad they changed it also the way mind's eye was I'm glad they changed it to be brighter because back then she was extremely hard to play. And IDV just feels like its own game now with the changes. Tho i miss Jacks foggy area.. It reminded me of how London nights were usually. And I also missed Emmas chair destroying being an actual challenge. I wish some things stayed and some changed
