Nice! Looks to be a lighter version of the PLA's Type 99 MBT (50T vs 60T) with a different engine bay design...the missile guided projectiles are very impressive
@@humansvd3269 Licensed by the Russians or not, this is something very good in theory but not really used in actual battlefield, the introduction of hard kill active protection would make these little missiles quite useless, so this really is a good to have in Russian and Chinese tanks and China has put most of their effort in developing new generation of APFSDS ammo instead.
@@timothy1949 Yeah but not every vehicle is going to have APS. ATGM's are still extremely useful against: 1. APCs 2. Trucks 3. Armored Cars like Humvees/MRAP 4. Fortified positions 5. Machine gun nests 6. Buildings 7. Basically anything aside from advanced MBT and some IFVs.
@1:04 on the gun at the back of the tank, is that another short 3-4 inch barrel underneath it that swivels horizontally? And is that another camera or sight under that barrel?
He broke it in a bar fight. You should see what happened to the other guy. It's a joke btw. CFF is an old Jane's guy even before the Internet and youtube.
Thailand brought 60 MBT 3000.The VT-4 120 mm cannon can shoot a projectile 62 miles using magnetic plasma coating.The VT-4 travels at 70K/hr. using 1600hp turbo-diesel.
Interesting because some guy above just said it looks like an abrams. but anyway, no version of T72 will compete with this, not even the latest T72B3M because they are generation apart. T90MS would be the closest competitor to the VT4 and I would say the T90MS is superior despite it is cheaper.
The standard would be to exceed all variants of T90 except T90MS, slightly worst/similar/slight better than T90MS (don't really know). Option to install active protection system would improve protection a lot.
Shout Dovahkiin Really? I say shoot it with an AT-4 HEAT IN THE FRONT ARC OF THE TURRET. IF IT SURVIVES HIT IT WITH AN NLAW TOP ATTACK ROUND. IF IT'S ALSOOOOOO SURVIVES THAT THEN I WILL BE IMPRESSED. IN THE MEAN TIME NO.
lol pretty much any modern tank can take the hit from At-4 on the turret front, even old T54 with ERA added can handle that. HEAT war head is not that good vs modern armor, APFSDS is the challenging one.
@@QuM3 the VT4 has never been seen with heavy armor side skirt, but this should be a customization option, the NORINCO VT5 light tank has displayed various combination of armor layout including extra side armor skirt.
It was a mockup, obviously the real thing isn't made of plywood. In the same way that ammunition, missiles, rockets etc that are displayed at arms exhibitions are usually models.
And in the age where everyone and their mother seems to have ATGM's growing on their backyard, why would you buy this over T-90 if you had to buy a tank with a autoloader?
Konrad Ford; all too true but, the Ukrainian Malyshev company only delivered 25 of the 49 contracted for. Also, as it turns out a Chinese T-99 (an A2 I think) MBT busted a front road wheel right out of the hull at a bathalon with Russian T-80's or 90's something. Sorry, I really don't remember the details of the tank bathalon where this happened as I was in such shock. I remember not liking the looks of the T-99 hull casting, had never seen such and didn't even think it could happen. One would hazard a guess that they stick welded it back on, ground down the weld and painted it over till they can blame some private for the damage. Now everyone in the world knows how to demobilize any of these beast with anything from a 25 mm on up. Look out Gen. Chalermchai Sitthisart, (Commander-in-Chief) Royal Thai Army, you better check on what you're getting. All this leaving one to wonder what quality of steel this VT-4 scaled down export version of the T-99 might be using. For sure it would be something the Chinese ZPT98 125 mm main gun could shoot APFSDS through at 5,000 m. Another thing is that, I was wrong about the VT-4 employing a Renk automatic transmission as it has a Ch1000 series homemade in-house transmission. Gen. Chalermchai Sitthisart, you better melt down them Bulldogs and make your own VT-4's. The Renk EMS 350 transmission is a drop-in replacement for T-72 type tank transmissions. Maybe you should see if you can get Renk France and either Klimov or Honeywell to hook-up a turboshaft engine so you can have a real tank. Also a laser protected Stadiametric/Stereoscopic range finder with a very well trained in Technique of Fire would gunner would help more than anything to get the all-important first round kill.
The one lost the wheel is a type 96B which is an upgraded version of type 96, the type 96 was a cheaper tank design to be mass produce, while type 99 was elite tank with pretty much everything better but more expensive to make, this VT4 is more like a lighter version of type 99A, they have the same type of engine
one of the reason Thailand gave up the T84 Oplot is they found that the Ukrainian have difficulty to produce and deliver the tank and they used recycled parts from older T80 tanks for Thailand's order. And before the VT4 there is no foreign users of newly made Chinese armor, the only exception would be Sudan with their base model of type 96 tanks, which scored 4 T72 kills in a 2012 conflict. Do your homework.
The owner of the company where I work wants to save 25% on the purchase of 6 trucks and chose a Chinese brand and did not want MAN or Mercedes. Within a year he was without trucks
Trucks driving all over South America, Africa in much worse conditions that Benz dared to set up dealership would disagree. The owner of the company you worked for got scammed and that’s that
This type of tank is really not the best for Philippine, it is too heavy over 50 tons, the light MBT like VT5 is what really Philippine need, since light MBT have enough armor to deal with terrorists and can be used on rough terrain which heavy MBT wont able to used on.
I like the chassis and the Renk EMS 350 transmission, but nothing else. I'd much rather see Klimov GTD-1250 engine in it and just about anybody's elesis turret (other than Russian or Chinese):
This tank has a more powerful engine, it is the original 1500hp engine used on the type-99A tank, but since this tank is lighter, it was reduced to 1200-1300hp to extended the lifespan, so if needed, this engine can output 1500hp without any changes.
Thailand is buying this? When? They already are into Ukraine for 200 T-84 Oplots, which I believe about 50 have been delivered? ASFAICT The the Oplot is far superior to anything Thailand immediate neighbors can field and superior to anything currently in SEA. Who is Thailand planing to defend against with such heavy tanks if indeed they are also buying the beast in the video above? Thailand has come a long way since the Stingrays and M60a3s they had for so long.
@@possiblyadickhead6653 you know that and didnt get picked up by some men in uniform because the west have transparency unlike some totalitarian shithole
EXplorer you know that the Ussr and China worked togeher very closely, it is like the Leopard 2 nd the M1 Abrams, they also got out of a joint program so by your logic you could say, the M1 Abrams is just a Copy of the Leopard 2, they have a similar suspension !!11!
What do you expect at made in china technology? Advance but low quality product thats why no one realy rely on their product.. maybe the guy explain it his arms made in china also😂😂😂 lol...
You are probably a Filipino, so you probably can't ever say anything good about China or the Chinese. You criticize the Chinese government, the Chinese military, the Chinese industry, Chinese infrastructure, scientific and technological expertise, sporting achievements, the Chinese education, healthcare and housing sectors, etc etc as well as individual Chinese people. But what exactly does the Philippines make? Compare Chinese cities with Filipino cities, Chinese schools, hospitals, airports, factories, housing projects, etc with those of the Philippines. Your dislike of China and the Chinese is pathetic and laughable, like Bolivians or Haitians laughing and criticising Canada or the USA.
Thailand is buying this piece of crap? Please for the love of God do not buy this my Thai friends. Get the Leo2 series instead. This thing will fall apart in Combat!! It will become a target practice for Russian, American and European tanks!!
@@GBR9794 Challenger is a piece of crap. Still using rifled gun and with that weight can't go nowhere in Thailand. Not to mention the shiti maneuverability. Challenger is a fucking dinosaur, compared to Leopard and Abrams.
Yes, Thailand is buying this piece of crap and ditching the T84 oplot they originally selected, and this piece of crap is more expensive than the oplot. And even India is not stupid enough to buy over priced western tanks, fighter from France? okay, tanks from Europe? no thanks. Stop leaving comments without thinking with your tiny dick and get a live.
Not impressed, no sure it can last even few months just running on road. why they have hire English speaking guy to advertise their fake stuff. All Bullshit.
No one has to impress you, because you have absolutely no concept anyway. A 52 tonnes tank with 125mm auto loading gun with variousprojectile and high penetrating APFSDS ammo, automatic gearing transmission, third generation CITV and battlefield management system would be considered an advanced tank by modern standard. But what should we expect from a guy who doesn't even know what Jane's is? Hire English speaking guy? you are out of your fucking mind.
@@dhirendralamba5119 are you Indian? What does your own country design and manufacture? Are your own country's products considered to be better than the Chinese (by the rest of the world)?
I love shameless chinese, you guys have been spying, copying and stealing American like crazy. There is nothing original about chinese products. I won’t even take any chinese items for free and continue to staunchly support made in India, made in Japan and made in USA. Just recently your rocket to moon which lifted with style but bite the dust like typical chinese. You guys should think about living a free life and not like slaves of thugs from Beijing. Remove your blinders and join Hong Kong movement, citizens of Hong Kong are self respecting, proud and courageous people and that is way whole world supporting them.
I don't mean to be rude but China wouldn't get that far without Soviet/Russian technology. The VT-4 is based on the Al-Khalid, which is pretty much based on the Type 90 family and these tanks are clearly based on the T-72. China simply copied the T-72's hull back then. The 125mm smoothbore gun, the ATGM with a range of 5km, the auto-loader...the Soviet Union had it first, decades ago! And Norinco has the guts to claim their VT-4 is better than Russia's new T-14? I highly doubt that the VT-4 will keep up with a T-90M.
You start with VT4 being a copy of T72, then go on and compare the VT4 to the T90MS, which is the latest and most powerful model of T90, and you said Norinco has the guts to claim VT4 is better than the T14 (which they didn't). You are confused, proof read before posting.
