All of the great features of Oshkosh's, but the 30mm autocannon stands out notably. I mean we are talking now about taking down any 8x8 and few of the light tracked platforms. And it's not like 2 vehicles taken with 2x TOW. This is something more. The worst thing about all 4x4 platforms made after the '90s is the level of their prices after leaving service. The concern about the civilian market for some light versions would be something amazing. I know it would sell. Just looking at all the security industry. Companies that modify Land Cruisers, Hiluxes, Patrols. Why can't Thales or Steyr-Daimler-Puch, KMW or even Iveco make something like it?
THIS VEHICLE LOOKS LIKE IT CAN OUTDUE ANY HUMVEE BECAUSE IT HAS OPTIONS OF MULTIPLE ATTACHMENTS OF ADDITONAL WEAPONRY MAKES THIS A GOOD ARMY DEFENSE VEHICLE.
If this is meant for front line battle, it's armor is inadequate against: AGL-30mm(40mm), 12.7mm HMG(sides, back),14.5mm HMG, 20mm(or larger)Autocannon, RPG, ATGM etc. For rear echelon duties it is more than adequate and doesn't require much of the add-on special equipment presented! So the only obstacle could be the price!
I don't know of any MRAP that can take on 30mm or RPG's. There is anti-HEAT cage armor, but not against 30mm. The penetration on AP ammo is way higher than any MRAP can offer. APC's/IFV's, etc can, however. This vehicle would not meet requirements in the wait/price/etc if it had anti RPG (adequate)/30mm protection.
Uhh I was in these in Afghanistan, it is a fantastic vehicle meant to replace the Humvee. It has an IED blast resistant V shaped underhull, many attachments including mine rollers (which my truck used). It can also while driving change the tire pressures for different environments. The engine is a savage and can withstand even the hardest driving, and lastly my unit was hit by multiple IED's and RPG's and the people in this truck not only survived but kept driving.
Joseph Shubin Yeah, I assumed it would've been too much for the budget and not necessary for it's roles! I do 100% support the use of all slat/cage armor types since it is simple, cheap and effective! But isn't this 30mm (by 115mm or by 173mm) autocannon a bit too much for the platform so that it's full potential could be exploited?
Milan Matovic I’m not no military man but uh... I think the reason they mount it is cause the frontline is literally everywhere. Raqqa, Syria? Frontline. Damascus? Frontline. On the side of the road in some fuck-all part of the desert between two remote villages that have no strategic value whatsoever? My friend, you are smack-dab in the killzone. In some house in, for example, London? Congratulations, you’ve found a sleeper cell. That’s probably why they mount the 30. And why this thing exists: we don’t *want* to use our normal transport/utility vehicles as frontline vehicles, but when attacks can come from anywhere at any time, you don’t have a choice, do ya?
