He had an awesome title "His excellency, president for life, field marshal Al hadji doctor idi amin, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Lord of all the beasts of the earth and the fishes of the sea and conqueror of the british empire in africa in general and uganda in particular"
But he was the king royal rifles in WW2, he backslide completely. I saw a documentary indicating that the Palestinians (the leaders, that is, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem) were friends of Hitler.
"Noone is more hated than the one who speaks the truth" - Plato That´s why Idi Amin became so hated. (He was wrong about the 6 million but that´s irrelevant in this case). A great man. You may even call him an Honorary Aryan.
One of this "Great Man"s" favourite entertainment was to line prisoners up, 1st man had to kneel and the 2nd man kill him with a hammer. 2nd man had then to pass hammer back to 3rd man then himself kneel and so on. He was among the cruelest of the cruel.
@Sniegel You're honoring him by calling him the lowest form of life in the West? LOL! You even quoted Plato. Quoting Plato to defend a tyrant is like quoting Hitler to defend the Jews. Next you'll quote MLK to make your case as a white nationalist. Pathetic.

@mikhailv67 Watched it. Big letdown. Not realistic, not believable as the film never got me into the right timeline, it always felt like a movie of these days. Whittaker was good as Amin, but nowhere near as good as Joseph Olita. James McAvoy was cringey and so bland. "The Rise and fall of Idi Amin Dada" and "General Idi Amin Dada: A self Portrait", are so far the other two films I watched about him. I liked both far more than "The last king" Looking forward to watch "Operation Thunderbolt" (1979) with Klaus Kinski, and "Victory at Entebbe", starring Anthony Hopkins, Burt Lancaster, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Dreyfuss, and Kirk Douglas.
I've been a soldier in the same army that produced Idi Amin nearly all my life. I understand the way he thinks and he is very much a product of that institution. The British Army produced men of excellent quality and nurtured the inate talent of men like Idi Amin all over the world back then. Nations were forged by warriors and in my opinion all men need to go through the army if nations are to survive in any moral sense. It should certainly be a requirement to enter into politics.
@@greg_4201Is this still the case when the army is just as corrupt as the political institutions? Probably more corrupt if you consider the military industrial complex.
@@stunns2003 that's one of the most retarded things I've ever heard. at least in the US Military there is some corruption in terms of high ranking officers placed by Obama/Biden to not complain about liberal bullshit or illegal wars... but mostly just to not complain about downscaling, women in combat, racial quotas, etc.. that's about it... suggesting the military in western countries is generally corrupt is completely idiotic. if you'd ever been in one you'd know that. US is for sure the most 'corrupt' western military but I still hesitate to even use the word 'corrupt'... I have to wonder exactly wtf it is you think they get up to 🤦🏻♂️ anyway, US is another matter... it has no culture to defend in the firstplace. I wasn't talking about it specifically and it's weird that you think the special situation there should factor into what I'm saying about the west in general. besides, the military industrial complex has absolutely nothing to do with the serving military, you weirdo 🤦🏻♂️ I can't even imagine how you'd think that...
There's a lot of confusion about the suicide bombers he mentions. Well, they were not the suicide bombers of today. He meant air force combat units from an elite brigade nicknamed "Suicide". The one behind his ascent to power as it overthrew the previous government. Its' official name was the 5th Mechanised Specialist Reconnaissance Regiment, while colloquial names were 'Suicide Regiment' and 'Malire Mechanised Regiment' (suspect Malire means suicide in one of Uganda's Sudanic languages).
From Wikipedia: Of Nilo-Saharan, the Eastern Sudanic branch is well represented by several Nilotic languages, eastern as well as western. Eastern Nilotic languages include Karamojong of eastern Uganda (population 370,000), the Bari languages in the extreme north-western corner (about 150,000 population) and Teso south of Lake Kyoga (3.2 million 9.6% of Uganda's population).

His plan to invade Israel sounds a bit goofy on the surface, but I've read declassified Israeli intelligence papers from the late 80's that stated something similar. The Israelis were paranoid that the emergence of a Palestinian state/military(this was when peace talks were getting started) would create a situation where they could exploit their proximity to major Israeli cities to conduct a first strike during an Arab-Israeli war, hindering Israel's mobilization(Israel is a tiny nation that depends on reserve mobilization to fight larger Arab armies). So Idi Amin's strategy of penetrating Israel with suicide attackers in order to disrupt is logical.
This man enjoyed his job ....... So relaxed....... How many presidents would enjoy a boat ride and an interview concurrently.....😃😃 Apart from his basic English, this man was not ignorant. He was informed.

I was taught by two Irish teachers, husband and wife, back in 1972 who had been Catholic missionaries in Uganda. They both helped run a boarding school. Every morning the staff had to be up a couple of hours before the kids to push dead bodies from the river bank back into the river current, just in case one of the boarders saw a relative. They said hundreds of bodies would float down the river. African tribalism is the worst form of racism in the world but it goes unreported until there's genocide.
there are so many reasons made Amin fall apart; he did know the status in spiritually affairs: iam sory for him; but having a huge body can not mean of having wisdom
U are talking about a genocide in Rwanda where bodies from river kagera which borders both Uganda and Rwanda were moving up to Uganda from Rwanda....we have not registered a single genocide in Uganda and I doubt we Will
All this with the backing of the British government. Idi Amin came to power with the help of the UK, who felt that he was someone easy to control unlike Dr Obote. So when the books of history are written about this guy, it must be remembered whose side his backers were. If Africans were let to run their own affairs, life for many would be easier.

by the way Amin loved his country so much he built roads and airports. now go to entebbe it's like a supermarket haah so ashaming . by the Amin put Uganda on map in the whole world

Listen to what he is saying. The Israeli people of today are not native to that land. They are colonizers who were refugees of lower and western Europe. He could, if he'd not made the tactical errors of replacing his competent commanders with illiterate loyalists and his ethnic brethren. Otherwise, the Uganda army had better equipment (which was not deployed in the war, for some reason) and Amin himself had a reputation as a good battle leader (well, cunning brutality).
