The UK broke diplomatic relations with Uganda in 1977, and Amin declared that he had defeated the British and added "CBE" to his title for "Conqueror of the British Empire"
@@josephgittamusisi4226 his decision was in the interest of himself. kicking out indians, losing quarter of air force due to supporting terrorism is against interest of uganda
He told his advisor, he wanted Uganda renamed "Idi." The advisor dissuaded him saying that on Cyprus, people are Cypriots. Did he want HIS people to be called "IDiots?"
"As a doctor you must be very clean, very smart, behave very well like a person, and also, you're not too drunk" I want this to be carved in stone somewhere
I don't know bro but why all dictators 90% dictator are mad guys like Idi Amem, Kim Jong un, and hitler is also mad guy. I think some psychopaths who gained power they becomes dictators ultimately like idi amen, Kim Jong un, and hitler.
@@fitrianhidayat No, they kept losing on points when they clearly won the fight. Will try to find the link to the original video. Basically Amin was saying that referees are biased, so if you want to win, you have to win by knockout.
@@War-child_ As far as i know he himself said in 1975 and in 1976 that he ate human flesh, but that he didnt like the taste, because it was to salty, various warrior cults, and his tribe too, were practicing blood rituals, and cannibalism, which is unfortunately still very alive in africa.
No, that's not what he said! He said "when you're 'too' drunk you won't be able to enjoy the drink" Meaning if you're completely wasted you can't enjoy it cuz you lose all your senses.
There is actually a lesson and some wisdom in this. If something or someone is trying to stop your success or deny recognizing you accomplishments, succeed so big and definitively that they can't deny it anymore
I was born in 1970 and lived through Amin's rule (1971-1979). As a child, life was great. For adults' it was different. I remember my parents would speak in hushed tones. Listening to the radio was another matter. The stifled laughter of my parents was confusing. Now I know why. All radio news broadcasts began with "Life President Idi Amin Dada..." open violence became the norm from 1979 onwards. We left Uganda in 1982. Uganda is my beloved country. For God and My Country.
_His Excellency, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular_ was a very funny man...
This was his full title... His excellency field marshal ali hajji dr Idi Amin Dada, distinguished service of military cross, victoria cross, conqueror of the british empire...in brief, President field marshal, dr, idi amin dada dso mc vc cbe.
“I think we are the first in our country in Africa today who have got many women managers than other countries” “We have got 4 managers and another 2 assistant manager’s” - Idi Amin This statement had me dead laughing🤣🤣🤣 ROFL
@@simonmwangi7683 I'm actually half-Ugandan.. "never visited" 🤣🤣You're not funny. That's actually really annoying. And You know his nature and have the ability to defend him, knowing the man? Unless you currently live there I can bet I've been there more times than you.
@@SStupendous you've just visited a few times far in between, never lived there, , watched a few white man documentaries, read some blogs now you are claiming that you know the nature of Amin...and being half of anything doesn't make anything you say factual
You must understand. As at the time he was making this statement, Nigeria which has the highest women participation in business, entrainment and politics, both in local and international community, does not have one woman in managerial level.
@Ayy Leeuz Confirmation bias. You are likely to believe in studies (however flawed that may be) that will confirm your own beliefs and ignore ones that give contradictory results.
@Ayy Leeuz "women are not for managers... Etc* You seem lost in the 18th century. I'm surprised that regardless of all the education and awareness, etc, some people on the Internet still think this way.
I met him in a bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in January 2003, many Saudis knew him and shook hands with him like a celebrity, but in fact I didn't know who he was before that day
The funniest part was When he said they had more women managers than other African countries I thought he was gonna say a big number not 4 mangers and 2 assistant manager lmao
We in Scotland were very proud to have him as our King. Many Scottish people wrote to him to ask him to do this, and he graciously accepted. He was the greatest King of Scotland of all time. Oh yes. Very good.
Wellp in today time they can do a lot of things due to technology, but then, woman can't stay on that point and wanna more privilegies. But fact is still the same, woman are not equal to man. And this fact is not telling that they are worse than men, they are just different due to physiology. Everything in this worlds has their role. woman care about home and childs, man works for familly alimentation and living conditions. But there is big BUT if woman is capable doing this role, that man normally do, that's fine to exchange, but in our society that man will be disrespected, that's facts also.. And yes i'am not sexist, thats just facts, when woman want equality but they don't want it for everything. Where do you saw working hard woman like on construction site, mine, at logging site, etc? They are not able to work there cuz this is fkn physiology.
@@Komfo_Adu He was pretty proud of it... Showing it to several people to make it clear what happened to those that opposed him. He never kept it a secret, if he was losing trust in someone he would take out the head from the fridge and talk angrily to the head. That generally got the message across to what would happen if you did the same mistakes at the beheaded man.
@boy Afrika search it up. Hell, even go to Uganda like I did, anyone can tell you about Idi amins genocidal habits. Don't bring PanAfrican nationalism into this
The best anecdote was him hitting on Queen Elizabeth. He wrote her a letter that constantly refered to her as "Liz" and told her she needed to meet a real man like him.
Also the time he sent a plane of fruit & vegetables to UK during the early 1970s economic downturn. He told his people 'we are the first African country to send Aid to the UK'.
@@silverblueshadow he would do it in purpose esp when it came to visiting overseas esp Europe! He would always be trying to let the white govt’s know that he knows how they carved up and exploited Africa and yes he craved attention as well so he would pull such stunts.
As for Caligula, the Roman emperor, the most people repeat his enemies’ words but the real person was different. I guess the same happened to Amin. During my school years I realised one very important thing: the majority may very often be wrong.
I never heard his voice before this video. But just by looking at the thumbnail his voice began playing in my head. Upon playing the video….yeah....my imagination was right…that’s exactly how he sounds like.

Idi Amin is responsible for my all time favorite smack down of Jesse Jackson. When Jesse visited Uganda riding on his high horse trying to give Idi advice Amin dressed him down and delivered the now legendary line," Jesse, you are my color, but you are not my kind". Boo-Yow ! That shut him up.
Once upon a time there was a multi talented kid who was confused about what should he become as an adult, a social reformer for women or a boxing coach or a doctor or a swimmer or a stand up comedian. Finally he became the President of Uganda in 1971. Guess who ?

I think he meant women managers in government-owned hotels. At the time, they were over 25; top-notch and excellently run. This was the 70s, so four was definitely a huge thing. Amin was also the first president to appoint a woman as minister (granted, he was only Uganda's second president, but the first, Obote, who was better educated didn't bother with such things). Its wasn't until 1986, when Museveni took over, that a woman was again appointed minister. Still, it was only one woman in a cabinet of 40 and she was a deputy minister.
