Thats what I love about Chess. It's totally original and it has addictive music. Mostly the musicals I listen to arn't original ideas. But I also love Next To Normal because of the originality of it. The Big musicals I've seen are Rent, Phantom of teh Opera(my favourite) and Wicked. And I'm going to see Jersey Boys and Spring Awakening soon. and I really hate that steryotype. It happens all the time where I live and boys are afraid to be in musicals because of it. and so girls have to be guys.
I LOVE Idina's first lines!!! Lyrical genius! And at about 57 secs, Idina's little riffage note embellishment! It was so full and awesome! Thank you for all these video's!!! I realise I keep commenting on them lol, but your vids help prove that Idina really was NOT bad at ALL!
yes the dvd is the total performance including tim rices speech and curtain call. they are both great and i love them! i really only bought it because of josh groban idina menzel and adam pascal but i now love the musical lol! i love all of them even more now lol. and dont worry, your not the only one that looks up scripts online lol!!!
It was recorded and should be shown on PBS sometime next year... There are rumours that the BBC is expected to buy it too... I REALLY hope the BBC does!!!
it sounds really good. i will definately look into it. i hear people talk about it all the time and its like the one major musical i havent looked into.
How do I love this night's performance of this song so much better than the second night, which is what they put on the dvd? Idina totally sings different notes...and I like these ones better.
no i havent and im guessing its a good thing lol.! Phantom was the musical that started it all for me. I fell in love with it when I was nine and then i got tickets for Christmas when i was 13 and i cried, which ten made my whole family cry lol. so i saw it in toronto. it blew me away and ever since i have been hooked on live performances.
well i have both! and its the exact same thing. except obviously that the dvd you see them preforming. the cd is just the audio. it has the claps, everything. except for tim rice's speech at the beginning.
i'm absolutely obsessed over this song/ performance. I just love how Idina and Adam performed this particular song! :) love it love it love it! btw, is this recording during the first day of the 2 day concert? thanks! would've been an honor to see this live. oh well.
I love Rent and Joseph and Chess becuase they are sung through. I find it much more creative, especially in Rent because everything rhymes, but it makes sense. my dad doesnt really like musicals because he cant get past the fact that they all sing to eachother! i try to tell him, but the onyl musical he likes is Hairspray and thats because of the style of music it is. he might go see Jersey Boys with me though, because he likes Frankie Vallie lol.
lol i used to like high school musical. i actually saw the stage production professionally but now ive come to my senses! lol. but it really does. i dont even call it a musical.
Yeah, me too. I guess he thought he might not get up there and decided not to risk it. I understand if you're voice is tired and you still have half the show to do. ...Or it could have just been an acting thing. Stiilllll, I looooooove that high note. I always run it back when I listen to the Benefit Concert.
I was in Joseph in my school. I played Gad and had most of the solos lol. But then again all of the brothers except for Joseph were pretty much girls. Our Pharoah was a girl trying to sound like Elvis lol. But it was really fun. But we havent done a musical in so long i'm dying lol. i really want to be in one again. i love expressing myself through music. music is why i live lol.
wow Rent, Chess, and Phantom!!! sounds like a dream come true!! lol. i should totally look further into it i guess. people that im subscribed to on youtube do songs from it and it seems phenomenal. is it like an opera?
Adam Pascal i thought did the greatest job in this Chess concert. I actually saw Rent back in February with Anthony Rapp but he was out because he hurt his back. I was so mad. But Musicals are pretty much my life lol. I tell people about this musical and they just go "oh a musical about chess, how interesting" but tehy dont really understand thats its about more then that and that its an awesome musical.
yeah actually i was wondering the same thing. i was listening to it and i was like this is wrong. i dont know why but it is idina and adam when it is named florence and molokov. its the part "wanna lose your only friend well keep it up your doing fine." thats weird.
Books, politics, and musicals? I'm not attacking or anything, but that's not terribly unconventional. Were you referring to your interests or something else?
Well too bad for your musical director lol! i have never actually listened to all the music from les mis. i have thought about it and i have listened to some here on youtube. i guess i should since you say its your favourite lol.
