Legends of Idleon is a perfect example of the best F2P monetization model, which is one that encourages players to work for the specialized currency (in this case gems) by giving the player modest amounts in the form of quest rewards. this creates a trail of crumbs that leads the player further into the game and almost discourages buying gems as it is much more fun to work for them. I'm also a sucker for games that balances itself by making every playstyle OP, along with a Dev who's sense of humor is as immature as mine. I can't wait to see what the future will bring for you Lava, and mad respect for doing the impossible and making an indie MMO
"The best F2P model" wouldn't have currency-sinks where you can dump arbitrary amount of money into the game and still not be "done". Nor would they be P2W at all. See League of Legends, DotA, among others. Idleon has a trash monetization model, but on the other hand, does almost nothing to abuse it beyond having it. The game is perfectly fun to play without spending a dime, and as there's not much focus on comparing yourself to other players(such as a pvp game would have), it's not too bad on p2w either.
I could say a lot about your opinion, but it's all moot because you restated OP's point. The Cash Shop has cosmetics and maybe some minor stat boosts, but you can earn the important things and that's all you need. Not to mention that those people who are spending money keep this game from needing a subscription model. You're entitled to your own opinion, but the take that a soulless corporation has better ideas on how you spend your money than an indie dev? That ain't it, chief.
@@GoIdheart Indies can't be wrong? Look at the mobile market to see how wrong that is. AAA studios can get things right, and in this case, an all-cosmetic monetization system is better than Idleon's. You can earn the important things in Idleon, if you're willing to wait for fucking ever. And you're severely limited in every way if you don't pay. Lower inventory capacity and size means you can't AFK for as long. No anvil upgrade means half the production speed. No furnace upgrade means much slower smelting. The list goes on. It's not P2W, because there is no W, it's perpetual and there's no competition

@@blazen123 First of all, reading comprehension would've helped you a lot here to realize that instead of "correcting me on my point", you're "catching a corner case I wasn't talking about". Second of all, afaik, no game in existence has ever released a "pay to finish" monetization model. I didn't consider that case because afaik it doesn't exist. I still won't consider it until I actually see a game worth talking about implement it. Although without considering it, I'd agree, you're probably right, it probably is trash.
Honestly, I'm a bit of a boomer in my stances twords MTX and mobile monetization models, but I'm in love with your game. it's a game I look forward to logging into every day, as opposed to feeling like I "have to", and once I can afford to I'll definitely be sending a few schmeckels your way. Kept up the good work
I'm with you there. Somehow "free-to-play" games always end up costing me hundred of dollars more than 60$ AAA releases, IdleOn included..! I'd rather buy a full-price release. :(
@@kriegnes Do you feel better now that you called people names on the Internet? IdleOn is as far from scammy as a free-to-play game can be, and being free-to-play is a requirement for a game to be successful on mobile platforms, as sad as it is. Now let the adults speak in peace.
@@kriegnes Idleon is definitely "free-to-play". You can play for free, but it costs hundred of dollars to get every benefit available. It's one of the only three free-to-play game I've ever played (the other two being Clash Royale and Warframe). Each of them cost me around 300$ in total. That's why I usually don't play free-to-play games.
@@PsychOsmosis at no point do you have to spend actual money to progress in warframe. I’ve been playing since 2015 and have never needed to spend money to get anything necessary to continue the game. You can earn plat by trading in-game and buy everything that way, which is extremely easy to do (have made over 200k plat trading). At what point did you feel it was needed to be pay2win?
@@C48121 I never said it was needed. Just that if you want all the benefits while having little time to play (due to working and raising kids), you can pay money to make the process go faster. That's what I did, and what I always do when playing free-to-play games. That's why I try not to play them.
hey Lava, I'm trying to complete the treasure hunt, but the "dig" part is not working for me. I've tried every spot to the left of the tree, but the quest objective isn't completing. When I defeated the frog, I did accidentally go into the tree, does leaving the area have something to do with it?
Here's a list in case you forgot something after watching it, because you watched it, right? Talk to the hidden piggy in the yum yum desert safe zone Purchase 421 duct tape from blunderhills vendor Place all of them in a chest and use split stack to get 1 in 20 separate slots Go to the frog area and drop all the tape in your inventory Then go climb a tree or something, wait, no, trees are for hippies. Go to the bleach log tree and score 12 on the minigame Go to the slime area and kill enough so 20 slime drops on the ground. There cannot be anything else on the ground Say "Dinner time froggy!" in the chat to summon a gigafrog, then kill it. Go to the left of the giant tree in the upper-left and say "dig." in the chat. Now you should be done

Same here, tried the quest three times in a row now but it doesn't work. This quest is qrap. Maybe it would be helpful to do this video much more slow and in a normal voice.
Okay. So I tried following the steps, but when I bought the 420 tapes it didn't count and I couldn't do anything more. Tried dropping the 20 tapes in froggo fields but noting. Can somebody help?
huh, doesn't work for me. i did everything, just defeatet the froggy that appeared but when i type "dig" at the exact same spot as you : nothing happens.
Da ich auch weiß, wieviele Deutsch das spielen mal nen deutscher Kommentar. Finde es gut wie Lava sein Spiel umsetzt und die Leute am Spielen hält mit solchen kleinen Bonis. Und anstelle von "Bitte abonniert mich auf YT" macht er eben ein kleines Spiel mit einem RU-vidvideo zusammen um da die Aufmerksamkeit hinzulenken. Er macht sich Gedanken uns bei Laune zu halten. Dafür nen Daumen hoch ! :)

1. buy 421 tapes 2.a put all tapes in storage and then get 1 tape for 20 slots (using the split feature) 2.b drop it on the froggy are separately I guess (that's why it's 1) 3. go climb the left tree on the red mushroom area 4. get highscore on the birch tree of EXACTLY 12 points 5. go to slime area, kill slimes until you get 20 slime sludge on ground (there should be no other items like coins and other loots on ground) 6. type "Dinner time froggy!" (without " " and it's case sensitive) after completing go to the platform of the portal to the stick area (don't enter it) then just go to the most left side of the platform. type "dig" (again without " " and case sensitive) then get mayo. go back to piggy then yeah :D but I guess you already done it by now :o
This is what i had to do: Go to world 1 and buy 421 sticky tape, than useing split stack feture in chest i have to get 20 stacks of 1 sticky tape, than i have to drop it all down in frog biome, than i have to climb a tree, than get exaclty 12 point in chopimg mini game at bleach tree, than i have to go to slime biome and reduce all the slimes there to puddles untill 20 of slime thingus drop on the ground also there musn't be any other drop becouse of the reasons, than i have to say "Dinner time Froggy!" In the chat, and defeat the giant toad boss there, after thay i have to go to corner of the map besides a tree and say in the chat "dig!" And thats it Thats all i had to do for this quest to work
Wonder if you could make this into ingame hints, maybe riddle papers where you get next paper for step after previous step; with optionally pointing to youtube if riddles are too hard
Why does some high levels already had finished the first hunt BEFORE the video came up? "I always buy 421 units of everything as the first thing in the morning after I wake up"

I´m standing on the left of the tree where the slimes are. I have all 6 Steps completed. But if i write "dig" - nothing happens! There is no treasure - mayonaise - nore will the "dug up treasure" text become green. What did i do wrong?
0:44 "also there cannot be any other items" Never thought I'd hate a quest as much as I do this one. Whether it's coins dropping under slimes or accidentally clicking the portals while trying to click slimes which causes me to have to start from scratch, this quest is nothing but a headache.
Okay question: Does the slime sludge thing mean the number of sludges on the ground or the real number of sludge should you pick it up. I am struggling with this quest due to multikill :(

love the game alot. but the slimes. oh my god the slimes. they dropped the sludge once in a blue moon and whenever i got close to 20 it forced my through a portal so i had to start over
@@IdleOn i do appreciate the fact that you're trying something new. I think trying to make youtube part of the game is actually a very good idea and has a lot of untapped potential. (If thats your plan) Just keep trying stuff man we all appreciate your hard work and love this game.
I tried this with like 420 sticky tape about 5 times and gave up assuming it's bugged xD Also while I'm here. The "Trail by Time" achievement is impossible to do at 131% move speed. I have the stop clock out and tried it again and again and it's impossible to do it in under 2 mins and 20seconds.
The reward is OP but because of how the slimes drop you need to get tons of luck to be ABKLE to reach 20, and you need to usually spend gems to be able to get EXACTLY 12 score.
