IDLES perform Never Fight A Main With A Perm from The Park Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2019. Guidance: Contains Flashing Images. Visit BBC iPlayer to watch the full set and more from other artists at glas.to/bbcglasto
@@ShottasDem It's about a "love Island" type. I wouldn't say it's about "toxic" masculinity - apart perhaps the threat of violence the subject makes in the first verse.
@@jackjude Perhaps you wouldn't say it's about toxic masculinity, but the lead singer would appear to disagree with you. Read the kerrang interview "idles joe talbot talks masculinity and mental health".
@@tron7658 yeah, I've read that. As I said, most of it conveys a kind of upper middle class narcissistic "love Island type" - apart from the few lines about "these boots are made for stomping". There are other idles songs which are more about toxic masculinity. Oddly Joe threatens the guy, so maybe there's more to it, as he is not above threatening violence himself here.
My two year old son with a curly mullet mohawk straight runs into the room when he hears the song start; it accumulates to us both jumping up and down singing at the top of our lungs. Life is grand.
@@Dylan-it5vi That class system bullshit is exactly what this entire genre has hatred for, these artifical blocks that the powers that be instil in us. Try again lad.
This band is for a me an example on how things must be done on music and on the stage, from the espressive skills the vocalist has, to the freedom all within they play and perform. 10/10 band!
@@jamiea9482 they did have the full set uo here. But looks like BBC pulled. Sorry to be an arse, but i was there. I want a gig so bad. This lock down is doing my nut.
I'm an old guy (55), was around in the Punk days, only discovered these on the back of their Glasto performance, huge fan now and cannot understate how impeccable the riffs and lyrics are.
Met a guy who looked like Joe Talbot at a Amyl & The Sniffers gig in Dublin. He protected all the women from creeps and getting crushed up front, dude is a hero
Not embarrassed to say this is the first time I heard them but this made me a huge fan, great music , great message ... just be better . Colossus is the best song written about dads and sons and that resonates with me
@@anonimoosea.9423 that's one lyric, yeah. It also says "I'm like Stone Cold Steve Austin, I put homophobes in coffins" I mean, maybe I'm still missing something?
Breaks my heart that Americans haven't heard about this band yet. I'm doing EVERY thing in my power to spread the message but they aren't listening. PLEASE IDLES! Take over AMERICA and show these fools you're one of the most unique and raw bands out there right now! Much love! Thanks. Edit; Joe Talbot has enough charisma to kill that entire audience with just his stage presence alone. He reminds me of Henry Rollins on steroids.
Hey they're set at Coachella was one of the most anticipated ones. They're definitely starting to pick up steam here in America now. Pretty sure most their US tour dates are sold out too
I just purchased tickets to go see them play in Sydney in November 2022. I'm posting this now so I can come back in a year to see whether or not the pandemic is under control by then.
My lord, I wish I could see these lads live........soon. Please come to Toronto or Ottawa or somewhere close. I missed you when you came in September due to me being to busy to look at tour schedules. Fav band the last 4 or so years.
Fucking mesmerising. Just came across them last week and now am totally fucking addicted. Dark as hell but crazy good melodies, drum beats, guitar riffs and bass. Proper band !
Took my 60 yr old father in law proud Bristolian to this set, he said after it was a bag of shit! I’ve took him to 5 idles gigs since. Addictive bag of shit x
First time i heard this band my now-wife, then-girlfriend was pissing into a McDonalds cup in the passenger seat of our car and told me to turn the fucking radio on so i couldn't hear her. Grounds by IDLES was on, i forget what radio station but, i'd never heard them before, i was absolutely transfixed. They've had a fan ever since.
