This comic is what made me enjoy and appreciate the Rated R nature of Transformers stories. Before Logan, Before Deadpool the were the Wreckers and the Crew of the Lost Light.

+Sl1f3rDrag0n I would prefer animated, less chance, bay would be involved...or more importantly Ehren Kruger, the main writer for most of the Bay films. I could see those two, bringing in some human we don't know or care about, make him the main character of the entire thing, and have Verity be relegated to eye candy. I would prefer animated, maybe in the lines of Prime's animated style, but that's as close as it gets.

Awesome story this was....Yes the straight to DVD movies like they do with DC would be so awesome for Transformers and us Adult fans. All it seems we will be getting animation wise is more rescue bots with Bumblebee in command.....The Adult Transformer fan base needs another option other than the Bay movies and the stuff on Hub network which doesn't cut it for me......

Another great comic review. To answer your question, Shockwave was dismantled after he was captured in "Maximum Dinobots." I read a slightly different interpretation from the trials and why Ironfist was there. What I read into it the trials was that they were more of an Internal Affairs proceeding, putting violent Autobots on trials for their actions and that if word of said acts got out the Decepticons could use it as propaganda to gain external political support. From the comic, and supplemental side stories, I got the sense Prowl asked Ironfist to go so he could be the one to sacrifice himself to complete a mission with his heroes before the cerebral bullet could kill him. In my mind it still links into the theme of the cost of war and everything else you've already mentioned. It also adds just another layer to Prowl that he new of the dead man's switch and specifically asked someone to go just to commit suicide to protect those secrets.

Just discovered your channel and I love it, this was a great summation of the story and themes. A couple of things to note that you didn't mention...Rung actually mentions later in IDW that several Autobots have been diagnosed with what he calls "Prime Apotheosis" in which they remodel themselves after Optimus. So Pyro was actually mentally ill if you will. Also, it wasn't so much the Decepticon trials in Aequitas that Prowl was concerned about but the Autobot trials. And that if it got out that there were that many war criminals on the Autobot side, the Decepticons could use it as recruitment propaganda. Great review though man, I have this version as well and it was worth every penny.

Bobby Skullface L So true. At least they gave us Transformers: Animated, Transformers: Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, & very soon, The Mechinima Titans Return series. But aside from those, IDW actually knows how to give us real fans what we want. But seriously, Dude, great review! I'll secure my own copy very soon. I recently rented it from the library & I loved it! Last Stand of the Wreckers kinda reminds me of the action hero films of the 70s, 80s, & 90s. Like Predator, Aliens, Commando, Rambo, Die Hard, Delta Force, Terminator 1 & 2. The Wreckers to me are like the Expendables of the Transformers. Springer's their Stallone, Kup's like Clint Eastwood, & Impactor's like Schwarzenegger, but with a way darker side. I really hope Sins of the Wreckers turns out just as great! And I really hope they add Bulkhead to the IDW Wreckers someday.

In my opinion this was the perfect tf comic for me it has such a great story heartbreaking moments and just badass characters my favorite moments are: the deaths of pyro and twintwist/topspin, ironfist’s realization of what impactor did, the absolutely brutal torture scene of the twins and overlords death. it was an absolutely awesome comic and it is the perfect transformers comic to just read if you ever find a copy buy it and read it

Bobby Skullface L oh yeah, i feel you on that and your time and effort definitely comes through.. these are just nice to me in particular as someone who's just getting back into the TF lore after all of these years. To be honest, I fell off after G1 but my son (who turned 8 over the summer) got me back into it. I bought him Scorn (I know, Hasbro, yucky lol) back in early June and it's been on ever since.. I think last time I counted we've got something like 66 bots.. but he's into the G1 cartoons more so than Prime so I get to watch all of those over again with new eyes so to speak.. anyway, this is getting lengthy but these videos are great for people like me who are just getting back into TF and the comics who have no clue what's going on. keep up the good work homie!

It's an amazing Graphic Novel, I would take this story line any day straight to DVD animation style over ANY Michael Bay movie. To bad Hasbro / Marvel have not figured this out......if they can make Iron Man / Thor animation movies then why not G1 / IDW Transformers action. Ummmm whoever is in charge over there think outside of the box will ya? Great take and absolutely buy the hardcover over the alternative.

Your saying "it is in the works"? Or some type of IDW related Transformers Animae, like the DC Movies (All-Star Supermn, Batmn Undr the Hood, WW ect.).. Cause that would be A Brilliant idea by thm. Sum of the DC like the 'Showcase prsnts DC' DvD (wit All the short films) our violence filled (Spectre esp.) wit sexual, swearing & pushing the PG-13 envelope. Be so good 4 "Wreckers" or evn "Dark Cybertron" (change the ending).

Verity, the girl from the original IDW "trilogy" series. Significantly less annoying then the kids from Prime. I had to stop that show, just couldn't take them. Anyways, just finished reading this finally. Friggin' fantastic story. Loved seeing Kup and Springer again even in such a brutal setting.

Sorry dont mean to correct you but you mentioned that Grimlock was the one in charge of Garrus 9. it was actually Fortress Maximus who was in charge. Overlord overthrew him and tortured him to the point that after he woke up on Delphi from an long term stasis lock, he damn near brutalized two Deceptions.

Astonishing review!! You, Mr. Skullface, are a brilliant critic! I've read Last Stand so many times and never have I heard it described in such a perfect and intellectual style! As a huge Wreckers Fangirl, I truly appreciate the fact that someone as obviously passionate as you gave it such a fantastic review. And that's not just an expression. I really am a woman. Who grew up on the epicness of the original Transformers! Love it! Love it! Love it! You've done the works of Nick Roche such beautiful justice! I really hope they make an animated adaptation of this! That would be far more preferable than 4 more Bayformers abortions. I really hope Hasbro decides on a reboot series with a real filmmaker. Someone like James Cameron. He's someone who actually knows what he's doing behind the camera. Look at The Terminator. Look at Aliens. Look at Abyss. Look at Avatar and Titanic! The man knows how to make a quality film and tell a damned good story!

Daniel Arkson Yeaa.... Michael Bay transformers is gay... So don't bring that up as some evidence, though we don't truly know how they work. I mean some may die so easily because they are physically weak, as well as have design flaws, while some can survive ridiculous amounts of damage and still continue their rampage of badassery.
