Hi guys! You can save the tips on True - False - Not Given questions and take a quiz if you go to FasTrack IELTS on Telegram and search for #FT14 t.me/IELTSFasTrack
Tips: 1. T/F/NG questions are often in the 1st and 2nd passage, whereas the Y/N/NG questions are in the 3rd one. (and the latter are not likely to be in the same order) 2. 3 choices are always included in the answer. 3. Look for names, places, and dates. 4. Look for synonyms -> they always paraphrase the sentences. 5. Put your attention to little details in the statements. 6. While T/F/NG questions can be answered by reading 1 specific line only, Y/N/NG ones require you to read several sentences. 7. Analyze the structure -> work out what they want to imply. 8. Can't find the answer? -> NG 9. Don't bother thinking too much when you are in a dilemma -> usually, it's the obvious choice that you first think of. 10. Stay focus (and also, have fun learning!!)
the example you’ve given for ‘not given’ was so easy. i’ve experienced many questions in ielts preparation books that was so confusing with No and not given.
@@zabed1919 i just skimmed paragraphs first then ,i used to read question and look into paragraphs again. If you don't find answer first time leave it and move forward to next question , come back to it later.once you are done with all passages, just concentrate on questions left , this time you even get chance to correct questions that you answered earlier (mostly the above and below questions , which you answered first).I followed this process and sat simply for last 4-5 mins
I want to express my gratitude to you for your help, I managed to get a 7.0 overall glory be to God. Although this wasn’t my target, having been failing academically all my life, this was the start of new beginnings. May God be with whoever strives to pass in Ielts and the rest to come.
Thank you so much my dear ❤ just got my IELTS results for general training now and my highest is reading, 8.5, and also the weakest point while I was starting when I was reviewing and studying. I'm so lucky that I've watched most of your videos. You have really helped me, I really appreciate what you are doing ❤
I was able to answer all of them correct with you, but you know the text where they should be searched was provided. Often, for most of us we really struggle finding the text containing the answer. I'm glad you covered this point, too! Other types of questions which we find difficult are - match the headings and sentence completion.
Thank you so much for you tips, esp tips about y/n/ng and matching headings, I take a leap from 6.5 to 8.0 in reading in 1 month preparation. Great thanks!!
Dear Asiya! I've watched almost all of your videos and they were really helpful to me, actually I took My exam today and just wanted to thank you for all of these good and useful lessons that you you put on RU-vid without any cost. Thanks a lot !!
My exam will be held at 17th August 2019. And at this moment this video has really helped me a lot to perceive those tasks clearly. Now I'm feeling very confident to do this kind of tasks. Thank you.
Hi Asiya, Thank you for all the wonderful guidance you offer online. I took my test recently and received a band 8 (L-8.5, S-8, R-8.5, W-7). I found 'True, False, Not given, to be confusing and adding to the stress. However, your tips and tricks helped me to identify the right answer. Truly appreciate all your lessons.
For the question: "Attitudes towards bilingualism have changed in recent years" - I think the answer should be "Not given" because As Asiya also says in the video Attitude corresponds to opinion, so from the text we do not know if the opinion or attitude of the people changed in general. All we know is that some research identified the benefits of being bilingual.
Hi Asiya, watched your videos when preparing for my IELTS. This particular one helped me with the reading test. My results came out great. Overall 7.5 band. Thank you
Wow! This is really the best way to answer T/F/NG and Y/N/NG questions. Please mam could you be kind enough as to create a video like this for the Match Headings Questions?
I watched this video on the day of my exam. There were 8 questions related to this. I achieved a 8.5 score for reading thanks to the insights provided by you . Thanks a lot!!!
Hi there, I really loved watching your video. Please makes a video on how to answer the heading questions. I barely answer the questions correctly. Thanks!
This probably is the best guide and teacher for IELTS for non English native speakers… 👍 I got the right tips from you. T-F-NG questions trouble me the most.
Dear Asiya, the last true/false/NG question (nowadays..........international manufacturers) please read the line immediately next to this line in the actual passage( i have solved this passage just today) a word-WORLDWIDE is given which gives the hint of international..so i chose true at that time (though i was wrong..i still don't know why)
Please also make video on "find relevant information from given paragraphs" in reading section. These types of questions are also tricky like matching headings or list of headings.
At 14:19 ; "Bilingual people consistently name images faster than monolingual people" This sentence is tricky because the paragraph doesn't state anything about the speed of monolingual people, it simple states that bilingual people are slow (not slow-er). So shouldn't the answer be NOT GIVEN?
IELTS test in 5 days :) Checking your videos to prepare for the exam! I got 5 days and Target is to score 7 hopefully! Thank you so much for guiding us all! Appreciate it ❤️
5/6 correctly , mam I can't remember all 13/14 questions together, while reading whole passage, I often forget questions and I have to check frequently.. What can I do?
At 12:55 (the first example for Yes, No, Not Given), I am unable to understand why it is a Yes and not a Not Given. I mean, the passage does tell how the researchers are finding benefits of bilingualism but it does not mention if that has caused a shift in attitude of the general public. It is a clear inference that we are deducing that since researchers have identified benefits, attitudes have started to change. So why didn't we mark it as Not Given instead?
Hi Asiya, you are a great teacher and the way you present your contents is absolutely spellbinding. I have already developed an uncanny addiction to your videos. However, I have a contradiction to your answer to the first question. You said it's True. I guess it must be Not Given because the speed of the machine is compared with that of the previous methods/machines and they have not mentioned anything about other methods/machines that might have existed at that time but we cannot be sure. How can you say it was the fastest without any information about such comparison. How would you explain this? I am sure you will clear my doubts.
Hi the explaination about a question at 14:23 part of the video. In this, there is no where written about the consistenty so answer might be not given also.. can you please explain if possible? I will be very thankful..
At @13:51 in the statement, it says bilingual people consistently name images faster THAN MONOLINGUAL PEOPLE. But there is no mentioning of monolingual people in the text then how the answer can be NO? @FasttrackIELTS
Aurpa Ananya try to understand Crux of passage and concentrate more on synonyms! I achieved 7.5 in general reading module ! I hope this trick will help you in achieving ur desired band !
I have answered correctly for all of the questions. Big thank you for the tips you are giving. I was struggling with answering the questions before due to my overthinking. Now, thanks to you I am more clear what I need to look for. My test is tomorrow 8:00 AM.
hi! I have a question about the part where the statement says " bilingual people consistently name images faster". Isn't the answer is not given? because it doesn't mention in the passage about comparison to monolingual?
Am having my exam Tomorrow and I can say after listening to alot of people and going through and through I have listened to this one and now I know exactly how to answer.this has really been helpful
I answered all correctly, but in exam the answer is not limited on a single paragraph like this we have to go through the whole passage that's why I always get confused 😕 please help me in ielts reading test
You're such a diamond in the rough Asiya. Although I scored 6 on my first Reading, I didn't know about the existence of your channel. Now I feel much more confident on my skills upon facing my upcoming 2nd test on November. I can't believe I'm finally succeeding in life, and this IELTS exam will mark a brand new beginning for me.
@@weenan9927 I’m taking it next Saturday. I believe I’ve practiced long enough to guarantee a good score. Despite the strategies I’ve learned to tackle the reading, my anxiety is kicking in again, constantly reminding me the types of questions that I could fail. It’s an uneasy feeling.
@@Cadialvaro I know. I feel exactly the same. The only difference is that it's my first time taking the exam so I'm super nervous :( I'm taking it this Saturday too btw
Hi. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you for your help and time. In the above video, for 'no' example question, the statement said Bilinguals can name images faster than monolinguals. In the text it said bilinguals can name images slowly but it didn't mention slower than monolingual. Cant it be Not Given as it didn't say slower than monolingual but just said slower. Looking forward to listen from you. Thank you
I put Yes in the third yes-now extract ( although it is counterintuitive, it should have been Not given). In my view , the logic is: 1. All people guess words before they are completely pronounced 2. But, the range of vocabulary of bilinguals ( the words they can idetnify ) is not limited to one language 3. It can be iferred that bilinguals can guess words from two languages , monolinguals- from one.
your every tip was very helpful and practical. I learned a lot and it cleared some my doubts. Thank you for helping me and others like me by making this video...
At question 8:15, the answer should be "Not given" isn't it?. Because the passage was talking about the price of melting. but the question was talking about the production cost as overall.
really very helpful to understand the exam techniques. I miss my liets reading test due to reading sections, I practice listening writing and speaking and leave reading felt that I will handle it and it destroyed all my efforts I lost money and time. exam techniques really matters to handle ielts. thanks
I think it's a good idea to mark all of them 'Not Given' at the beginning.. then, when you find something, within the passage, that is either extremely close to the question, or regarding the question itself, ask yourself whether or not it is consistant with the content you just found.. so that you can then choose T/Y if consistant and F/N if not.
Thank you so much for providing the basic Knowledge to boost up my confidence Level and I feel Super Positive to take up this Ielts exam as challenge to score more than 7 band...!!!👍😊
I failed just one which was the last question. I was a victim of your last instruction. I was deliberating on it more than I should have. Thank you a million for this wonderful work you're doing.
