Muse was like a baby bird, something so gentle and sweet that grew up and left the nest. But from its birth it allowed the rest of the series to flourish, like a flower, like new baby birds getting ready to take flight. I get why they had the disband but it still hurts, as I and many other fans will say, µ'sic Forever!!!

Great video, and I have always thought personally that ending muse while they were at the top was a good decision, instead of milking it forever. As painful as it was at the time. µ's was untested waters at the start but with Aqours and forward they have clearly planned for greater longevity lol

@@SeisakuDesk is that supposed to be a flex? I bet they can last until 2030 or 2035 and that's not a flex at all. Their fans will literally boycott the whole franchise and spread hate to Liella, Niji and Hasunosora if Aqours will disband so even if they're getting old, Lovelive has no plans of disbanding them anytime soon. They don't do concerts, events and guestings as much as Liella because the higher ups definitely want the fans to be exposed and more accepting to the younger groups. Even with that kind of setup, their fans have nothing good to say and always demand Aqours content while talking shit to Liella imagine their toxicity when Aqours disbands.

I actually believe that Muse would've continued for longer if not for Nanjolno's knee and Emitsun's vocal cord.
@SeisakuDesk
@SeisakuDesk Год назад
It actually did. Nanjolno didn't attend most of live events and she always blamed herself (when it's not even her fault). And during Emitsun hiatus, Muse released Mi wa μ'sic no Mi. The franchise continued without them, and it could last like that. But I think people wouldn't have accepted a graduation of Jolno
@mojabaka

@@SeisakuDesk Yes exactly. I think it's clear to see that LL staff doesn't want to replace the seiyuus because they're synonymous (is that the correct word lol?) with the characters. You can see it nowadays with how Setsuna's seiyuu Tomoriru is being replaced. They didn't really want to do it and they tried to accommodate her the best they could, but in the end she felt that she couldn't live up to Setsuna and decided on her own to quit. They tried to accommodate Nanjolno the same way by removing her from songs that required too much dancing. I believe that back then there's no way fans would've accepted a recast for Honoka and Eli. They always said that Muse consist of the original 9 people, both in the anime and in real life. I especially remember when Nanjolno cried during 3rd live because she missed the 2nd live and Emitsun said that it's not Muse without it being 9 members. It was definitely better to quit while being on top, instead of recasting roles and slowly getting forgotten. Also as Emitsun said during final live, they never really fully quit. They stopped performing lives and won't release new music, but they will always be Muse and still do activities like voicing the characters in the games and appearing on live streams. Muse will continue to live on as long as there are people who cheer for them. It's always interesting for me to speculate about what would have happend if not for injuries and sickness. I'm happy that Aqours is lucky enough to not have any injuries, so they can continue for longer.

If I want an instant cry session, all I have to do is watch the finale of the final μ's concert. LoveLive! will probably always be my favorite Japanese media franchise of all time, with BanG Dream! a close second. Both of them are so relatable to my own life, having been about the closest thing you can find in America to a school idol, myself, being part of the music theatre culture at my high school, and then having gone on to perform in a band. I grew up in NYC and went to a high school where admission is by competitive examination only, much like Japanese schools, and like many Japanese students, I rode the subways to school and back. I also just before that school attended a Roman Catholic school where uniforms were the norm, and as a result of this, much of what I see in these franchises feels like my own life.

I appreciated the history lesson and retrospective. I was around at the start of μ's but never got into the franchise until after Sunshine aired. The LL brainrot has gotten to me lately and I've been rewatching every season of the anime.

I love the analogy of comparing Love Live to a goose, it’s hard as an outsider to really wrap your head around the idea that they had to kill the group eventually to keep the series going. As always, this is a super interesting video topic and you presented it all really well!

u's paved the way for every Love Live thing to flourish. They haven't overstayed their welcome, and their brief 2020 return was as touching and heartwarming as it should be. They had a job, and they delivered. While u's is the strictly anisong group, it's from Aqours onwards when the Love Live formations become more pop proper (all praise Kanata Okajima) without losing their goofy anisong touch that makes the older tracks so endearing. Man, I love Love Live so much.

I got into LL right as µ's disbanded, and for a good year, I was a hardcore µ's fan. I took in everything I could take of them, and pretty much did over the course of a few months. I was pretty heartbroken that this new group I had come to love was gone for good, but I was at least happy that there was a whole back catalog of content to take in. Eventually, I grew out of them and got into Aqours, to which I don't necessarily care for µ's anymore. That being said, I absolutely respect the grind they had to go through. It was an upward battle, and seeing µ's go from a few hundred copies sold on their first single to thousands filling up arenas not even 4 years later. That's massive for them. For that, I will forever respect them for making their way to the top and paving the way for my favorite idol group of all time and the rest of Love Live. Great video.

It was pretty necessary. They would’ve overshadowed any following generation. Love Live would’ve just been Muse and others. With no Muse around there’s room for multiple Idol groups at the same time. Aquors, Niji and others all have room for each other.

I still think it would be pretty cool if they eventually brought back some of the older members in supporting roles as adults. After all, the lore of LoveLive! is that the earlier groups end up inspiring the new groups, so it would be only natural to have them meet. I've always thought, for instance, that after Aqours, Ruby would go one to have an actual career as a professional idol star, with You as her costume designer. Kanan would of course take over the dive shop, and Mari would take over the hotel business, you know, that sort of thing, in my head canon.

I highly agree on the points that you're making about Love Live's concept. What made Muse successful is definitely a shounen-like story with the protagonists, growing up from zero to the legends. However, I can't say I can recommend this video to anyone, since I didn't get exactly what's your opinion on over commercializing of current franchise(Sunshine in the mirror and effordless SIF2 and Link Like). For example, I think that LL will meet some consequences of it's current actions in the future -- like, it's already seriously downgraded on Niji's anime(financially too).
