By the time Cap reaches the events in Endgame, he's seen so much war, so many strange beings, experienced so many different perspectives that he's no longer "that" type of guy--if he ever was. For example, in Endgame one of the characters was openly talking about being gay and going on a date with another man. Cap actually encouraged the man and said, [paraphrasing]: ...You did the hard part, you took a leap without knowing where you'll land..." That, and above all else, Cap hates bullies--he doesn't care where they're from. So for me, that pretty much means that Steve Rogers would be atypical of the other white men of his time.

Andrew Byi No most racists did not care about bus seating up North. My grandpa was from NYC and racist by today’s standards. An upscale café, however, might get some customers like my Grandpa and even staff looking down their noses at any black families who came in. Not cool, also better than being legally banned. Most people are just used to accepting as legitimate what’s regularly put in front of them. segregation on buses down South only seemed important to whites who had only ever known Jim Crow laws (which segregated trains before cars/buses were invented). Also contrary to popular belief, not everyone was a sneering racist in the decades before 1965 any more than racism and more than racism disappeared after 1965. The reason the civil rights movement was gaining steam in the 1950s and military segregation was breaking down in the 1940s was because of people with social views like Captain America and W.E.B. DuBois.
