The fact that Sage felt so bad for spilling water on Maru like that's respect, I love their little friendship. Like Maru said "I needed that" and Sage was like "No, you did not need that" like that's so sweet also when they say Maru is super fucking nice, she is actually fucking nice. “If he wanted to he would” can be interpreted in soo many different ways I agree with what Christine was saying but another way that I took it was that if a girl was in doubt of the guy she’s with, weather she’s questioning his loyalty or commitment to her etc then she should look at his actions that ultimately reflect if he truly cares for example: if he wanted to spend time with you he would.

I think the line "if he wanted to he would" originated from women who HAD been communicating their needs to their man, but were ignored or the man would just outright do the very bare minimum and unconvincingly act like it was a chore. At least, thats how i perceived it, bc when the line was going around in thr beginning, it was mainly married women in long marriages who felt completely left alone by their spouse. Over time, it filtered to the rest of the community and began to be translated as "just fcking read my mind duh" xD but i do believe that in the beginning, it was gear towards "put effort towards the people you claim you care about"

I agree with the point Christine made. But also I think “If he wanted to he would” also applies to talking to someone and them not doing the bare minimum. I do get the point made about them not being able to read your mind. But in some cases I think saying if he wanted to he would applies to relationships or situationships where your not getting a lot of your energy reciprocated. Then that phrase would apply.

Personally I agree with sage here I also have traditionalist values. I think after seeing so much toxic hookup culture in media, I have come to a realisation that marriage is not how much love you have for someone, it’s more of a mutual commitment. You could love someone so much but if you don’t have trust, commitment and a friendship with its them, it’s unlikely to last. I think that commitment for most people to come with age. I’d much rather date someone who sees a potential future with me rather than someone who just dates in passing

my opinion on if he wanted to he would: i think some girls do have the expectation that if their bf wanted to do something for them (get them flowers unprompted, etc) they would do it, however i think that is not totally 100% fair to think depending on the situation because some guys may just be on the shyer side or might need a push to do something bc they aren't used to being in a relationship. i think "if he wanted to he would" should moreso apply to when the girl communicates something to her bf, and he listens to what she says and follows up on it rather than acknowledging it but doing nothing. for example, the girl says she needs words of validation to her bf and he starts to more often say how much he appreciates her etc. compared to a guy who hears what she says but dismisses it and does not work on addressing it in their relationship moving forward

For me “if he wanted to he would” applied to things we’ve talked about and my s/o hasn’t followed thru on or like things that would kinda lose some of their meaning if I had to tell them to do it. For example, if I had to tell them to plan me a surprise date… it loses some of its value , in my opinion. Or like if you’ve been dating for like 5 + years and talk about marriage often and you’re both wanting it … and then your s/o never asks you. You break up and he gets engaged with in the year. If he wanted to do that with you he would have. I think it’s more of a when people show you how they feel about you through their actions, believe them.

In my head if he wanted to he would isn’t the way Christine is explaining it. It’s more like I voiced to him already and he said he would do it and so that’s where “if he wanted to he would” would come into play. TikTok is v toxic so they probably misconstrued it into something else but it’s actually v healthy if you think about it and value when someone actually sticks to their own words.

When i think of "if he wanted to, he would" i think of you expressing your needs to a guy and he either says he'll do it and never does OR he gasllights you into thinking that what you're asking for is too much. Meanwhile, he will then proceed to do the exact same thing you asked for, for another girl. so yes, if they want to, they most definitely can and will

i think the way love language should work in a relationship is always doing the other persons love language, not your own. because let’s say mine is acts of service and my partners physical touch, if he did something for my love language, it would make me want to give him his. you can’t always give your own love language to someone else and expect them to feel loved if that makes sense. it’s all about communication and doing the language that makes your partner feel loved
