Hey friends! I’m back at it again and this week it's all about the bathroom (or what we call the head) here on Boundless. During our first showers a couple weeks ago, I found quite a few areas of water leaking onto the floor and into the bilge. Leaks on a boat are never good in the long term, and with our rigging situation up in the air and Katy gone on a work retreat, I thought I would tackle this big project. Make a reusable visual template to guide the fostner bit exactly where you want to drill. Use a strip of plastic laminate predrilled with same size hole, then immobilized template with tape or fingers on each side of hole to be drilled. Two sided tape works as well. Better than enlarging a hole to disguise a wandering drill job.

Great idea! I think next time I would make something like that to guide the bit. Thankfully it worked out though with the slightly larger plug!

Nice to see your projects coming along and that you are working hard and behaving (at least on camera) while adult supervision is out of town:-) And I do love the videos and content. I can tell that your creativity did come into this one as well which is really cool. I liked the editing where you were speeding up the work part with music, and then inserted a quiet real-time speed of you grabbing a bite to eat, and then cutting right back to work. Simple things like that keep it fun for us viewers!

Be aware of the fact that your V-groove will lead to a larger horizontal caulking surface. With time, this surface will get moldy. I had to replace mine every 2 years for that reason.

Yes, I agree! Furthermore, I would have eliminated the v-groove idea, pulled the wood at the base, cleaned throughly with final alcohol wipe. Then lay a heavy bead of polyurethane caulking - pressing the wood in place and tighten with screws. Hopefully enough caulking bulges to the surface that you can later trim with a utility knife. The smallest bead between the Formica and wood the better. Silicone caulking is not the best in really wet areas. Save this for the next time, hopefully many years in the future. You were very meticulous.

better way to re drill , get another piece of wood any thing will do drill the hole size you want then place that piece of wood with the hole over the old smaller hole cramp it and drill , it cant wonder as it using the new hole as a guide especially with a forstner drill it
