Scott Frankfurt presents Vi Jordan performing classic funk cover of “If I Ever Lose This Heaven”. Written by Pam Sawyer, Leon Ware (1974), the song was first released by Quincy Jones on "Body Heat". This version pays homage to the “Average White Band”, accompanied by core rhythm section members of Earth, Wind & Fire, at Scott Frankfurt Studio in Woodland Hills CA.

Three years and I can't stop coming back to this! It's why I'm up at 2:00AM and I went to bed at 10PM! Never take your laptop to bed, but if you do, ain't nothin' more funky and soulful as this band, this music and the incredibly talented and beautiful Vi Jordan. Thanks also to Scott Frankfurt and his studio for pulling this together! Groove on!!!

I'm in heaven because of Verdine. He can still play and he sounds as good as in the beginning of EWF. And that makes me very happy. I didn't think he had it anymore and he was the reason why I started playing bass in the first place.

Omg ! This put an instant smile on my face. A lot of the radio stations took the smooth jazz stations off the air and replaced them with nothing but junk and artificial music or negative rap. This was done intentionally.. thank God there are other venues that still honor real music❤

This version is REALLY nice, but AWB didn't write it. Leon Ware co-wrote it, and was a featured vocalist on the original with Minnie Riperton, from the Quincy Jones album Body Heat. This version is fantastic, and how could it NOT be, with the great Verdine White on bass?

This version is excellent, and why wouldn't it be with Verdine White involved? But this song was done originally by Quincy Jones, with Leon Ware and Minnie Riperton on vocals, and co-written by Leon Ware. The AWB arrangement was based on the original.

As a trombone player and arranger in the 70's, all I can say is excellent! Fun rendition, clean performance by all and nice mix. This is the kind of group I enjoyed play with in the horn section.

This got 2.5 million views in two weeks! I think I’m responsible for half of them. I bought the song 🥰 and listen to it constantly & have to say what a different experience but just as wonderful it is to just listen without the visuals - the way it was meant to be. And if all of this magnificence isn’t enough, you even get Verdine!
