Seriously, staining a fence can be a huge pain if you don't do it right. Today I'm working on a project for one of our shops, and I'm tackling it with what has become my favorite fence stain on the market.

We were also trained by wood defender and everything I agree with But that being said with horizontal fences we have to back roll because the self leveling doesn’t come out ideal as with vertical pickets great video btw

I am confused. You built the fence with 14 year old cedar that was dry but the color looks great. I am assuming it is a gray stain? It looks ver splotchy, like many of the board were not covered as heavily as others. Is that the look you're going for? Or is it you used a transparent stain and grain shows through?

Excellent video, especially to demonstrate a product that appears to deliver on what it claims. I was sad to see the natural cedar colors covered, though. Regarding that "toilet brush" think you demonstrated, I am unfamiliar with it. Is this something my maid or butler might understand?

What is your favorite spacing amount between the horizontal boards? Can’t tell if that is 1/2” or less. Also if I wanted to build the exact fence from the video do you have a walkthrough? Thank you

So you pre-washed the rocks with dawn, dish soap, and water. What happened afterward did you have to wash it all down again?

Yeah you typically go back afterward and hose it off.

Thanks for the vids swi. Saw the chain link repair. I had someone hit and bend the post to a chainlink fence.... is there a tool or method to bend the post back to close? Tried pulling it and started to move soil and not bend. Or is it better to just cut it and use..... don't know what it's called .... a joint?

We don't have a tool yet, but we are working on it. So, if you attempt to bend it back and the soil shifts, it's best at that juncture to remove it and install a new one. This is because the footing is now compromised (if it has a concrete footing). Another option is to cut it, bend it back, and then re-weld the cut. However, you must ensure a solid weld, followed by the use of a galvanized protective paint to protect any areas that may have been burned.

Does the fence stay that gray color?

Yes. As it dries over the first day it looks a little more stainey and less paintey. Mind you, we picked a gray, so that's why ours looks gray. You can get everything from completely transparent and colorless to more traditional stain hues to complete black.
