There was legit a Hallmark movie starring Ben Savage where some woman found out she was adopted and was half Jewish. He teaches her all about Hanukkah and they fall in love. It's called 'Love, Lights, Hanukkah!'. If you've read this comment, you do not need to watch the movie.
@@picnicsandstars Oh we have those movies in France too but on regular free TV channels. From October to mid January there's Christmas movies everyday during the afternoon
THIS IS FANTASTIC ADEUB2IUEVBPEV1OE My non-Jew friends are always like "arent you mad there isn't more Hannukah stuff this time of year?" and THIS is why. Also, the booger Hebrew school joke hit wayyy too close to home!
In my country we don't have many jews (well im Polish-German) and mostly get educated about Christian culture so this is my only source where I get to know Jewish culture
Yeah, Germany’s Jewish community is small and Poland’s is almost nonexistent. It’s sad, but there are some really pretty synagogues, etc. in both countries. There’s a lot of revitalization work happening and I’m sure people would be happy to teach you about the history if you look at those organizations, especially with the worldwide rise in antisemitism. Sorry, this is a comedy video I’m going now 🙊
@@emmazig I'm not the person you're replying to, but I really appreciate the information- and you shouldn't feel bad about posting this on a comedy video at all! Or maybe that part was a joke and I was woooshed? anywayy
My dad is named David Goldberg and my aunt is a starving artist. My dad moved to the west coast away from my family in Brooklyn. 😐 We all like saving money
@Elite Dragon weddings are expensive and so are wedding gifts. Having it on an "off" day is cheaper all around and keeps the guest list smaller and affordable. Sorry my budget was under 3k and you don't know the situation so you probs shouldn't pass judgement 🤷
@Elite Dragon yeah i framed it as a more comedic situation in tune with her "lets do it on Christmas to not invite Christian friends to save money" you just took it too seriously and started being judgemental. Get over yourself idgaf about your self projection on what's Christian or not
@Elite Dragon bro your the one who couldn't read a joke and frankly it seems like you were triggered over the word Christian lol oh no someone mentioned being Christian on a joke Jewish video better be super serious! Your trying to turn it into a religion debate for crying out loud. Stop being judgemental and take a joke you'll live longer
There was a Hallmark movie about Hanukkah once actually! It’s called Hitched for the Holidays. There was this Catholic guy pretending to be a Jewish girl’s boyfriend so her parents would get off her back or something? Forgive me it’s been a few years since I’ve seen it. Anyway he was pretending to be Jewish as well and when they lit the candles on the Menorah one night he blew them out like a birthday cake. I don’t know if that’s actually really offensive? I truly hope not because my mom and I laughed so hard. We’re Christians and I’m afraid we don’t know tons about Judaism or Jewish customs. We thought it was a pretty cute movie though. If you aren’t already offended you might try watching it haha. Or don’t. 😅 It may not be a good movie from a Jewish perspective.
I'm not jewish but im pretty sure Blowing out the candels is litteraly the #1 thing you are not supposed to do. They are ment to burn for all of Hanukkah cause their was a battle between the jews and the greeks. The jewish warriors won and were low on supplies. They only had enough lantern oil to last for 1 night in the temple of solomon but the lantern miraculously lasted for 8 days. On the 8th day the Jews found more oil.
@@hayes1035 Right but do people nowadays leave the candles going the whole time or do they light them and then put them out? I mean obviously they don’t do it the way it was done in the movie. That was pretty messed up haha. 😅
@@hayes1035 I guess I’m just thinking they might light them for the purpose of the ritual and then respectfully put them out with a candle snuffer. So like maybe they do put the lights out to avoid a fire hazard, but certainly I don’t think someone would blow them out haha.
I know you weren’t talking to me but I did know that! You’re talking about Hitched for the Holidays right? Or do you mean the new ones they just made this past Christmas? I didn’t watch them because I don’t really watch Hallmark anymore.
there is a Jewish hallmark movie coming out 😳 it’s about this woman who finds out she has a whole other Jewish side of her family after taking a dna test... and she finds love, somehow? which suuuuure sounds creepy when it’s also about finding family...
Plot twist: everyone *IS* going to come to the Jewish wedding because everyone our age has isolated themselves by moving super far for school and/or work( or got shunned from the family for sexual orientation and/or politics)and making it back home for Christmas isn't possible all too possible. Coming to a wedding is the only way to fill that void of togetherness for the holiday season. Thus, everyone shows up at the Jewish wedding on December 25th. Lmao 🤣
My mom worked at a Jewish summer camp over the summers as a nurse and I got to come every year from when I was like 4 up to 10 I knew Jewish culture more then my own 😂😂😂😂😂😂
As an avid Christmas Movie watcher I must tell you. There are Jewish Christmas movies. The first one I saw was about two people teaching each other about Christmas and Hanukkah so they could impress their girlfriend/boyfriend.
Tbh, I think there should be movies like this! Especially during the week of Hanukkah. I would totally watch. 🙂🙏🏾 Yes, I am that Christian friend. ✝️ Idk how the Jewish community would feel about this. But as an outsider, heck yeah!!!
Me (a middle aged woman): Proof there are young ppl on the internet with talent and a brain. I knew they existed. It's just nice to finally stumbled on a few.
