If Minecraft Was Made Out Of Cardboard 

Man, this game had so much potential Could've probably gotten quite popular if the development had continued

This game had so much hype, then development just stopped.

I won’t lie, the fact that you can create the shape of your tool is actually pretty cool

Would love if this video gets enough hype so this game becomes a thing again

Cardlife is like Spore, limitless potential but the dev team vanished.

I bought Cardlife early on and was really looking forward to getting my friends into it, and then development just ended. Shame, it's not a bad concept at all.

I remember being so hyped about this game. Shame they gave up on it.

You know what else is cool about this game, you can actually take your tool drawings into a pixel art program and edit them (in black/white to translate to the cardboard) to make precise drawings.

I find it interesting peoples viewpoints on this game tbh. the game released in an early access version, and then updated to a 1.0 full release, and then didnt get any more updates. But like, since when has it been expected that a small dev HAS to continue to update a game past release, with no other options, or the game has been abandoned? Remember when games just had.... a full release, and that was it, and you MIGHT get DLC if the devs felt like it, and even most bugs just became part of the game and might never get fixed/patched? Its totally awesome when devs, especially small devs, continue to support their game and add content or bugfixes, but frankly once a game is in its full release state a developer isnt actually REQUIRED to keep updating it. Thats a full release, and as soon as it's a 1.0 and not a beta version prior to that, it can indeed be considered finished. Many games legit get abandoned before they ever hit a 1.0 release, and while it sucks that the dev for this one didnt communicate better that they were finished with the game, it diminishes actual abandonware and the issues surrounding devs that do so when we act like a full release is the same thing as a game actually being abandoned part way through development. Its important to recognize the difference, even if you dont like that games like this never continued getting updates. No more updates past an official release and actually ABANDONING a game mid development just arent the same thing, and this comment section shows how many people really do think theyre the same. Its fine to expect indie devs to release a good game, a full game, but there is not one thing requiring them to continue updates past an official release. Hell, even AAA titles often dont get many or any updates after an official release (unless they had MAJOR issues), why are we holding individuals and small teams to that same level of standard as multi-million dollar corps? Its great when they do continue updating their games, and that should be celebrated, but theres an issue with EXPECTING it from small devs. They have normal lives, and other projects they want to work on, etc

I remember seeing the development on this when it was first announced back in 2014ish. Loved the concept of it although the game at the time literally only had a tiny house, only creative, a single tool, and a play area smaller than a garden shed. Sad to see they ended up stopping development for it.

That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of cardboard.

I remember being really excited for this game, then the devs up and vanished. As far as I can remember, the networking code was really bad and the developers didnt know how to fix it and optimize their multiplayer support, then simply gave up. If there was anything else shady going on int he background, I dont know what it was, genuinely seemed like the devs had great ideas but didnt know how to fix multiplayer problems.

Oh i used to play this game all the time! Its so much fun, a real shame it hasnt been updated in a looong time

As someone who has folded thousands and tens of thousands of pizza boxes and gotten paper cuts from those boxes just the thumbnail increased my anxiety ❤ This will be fun to watch.

Ah, I miss this game! I stopped playing because of the falling through the world bug. They never fixed it as far as I'm aware. I'd love to play it again someday.

DF making the strongest shape in tool engineering. RCE would be proud of that efficiency!

It's unfortunate that the devs stopped to work on other projects. Nothing they've worked on since has been anywhere near as promising.

I bet RCE would use some.....interesting....shapes should he play this game.

Oh, btw when you're cutting down trees, don't stand infront and cut along, stand beside it, so the tree looks like just a skinny line, them pick one spot to hit, you will quickly cut through the tree without having to move your cursor.

I still have this game, I was the nice guy in the tryhard pvp server and I had the meteorite armor and weapons. Edit: I remember finding a glitch where you can glitch through the ground (and when you're in the ground it's like x-ray in Minecraft) to whatever ore you see, and you could glitch back up to solid ground instantly.

I liked the idea of this game, but getting stuck in holes due to janky physics and getting one shot in some cave trying to get basic materials to make an upgraded pickaxe then losing absolutely everything was not fun.

Fun fact: you can go into the game files and put in a white image with black background and the game will take that image as a cutout and you now have a 4k image of a trollface as your player's face that is why i still play this game

What's not to love about a game with so much potential creativity? Just don't dig down. This may be the fatal flaw of the entire game. There are no connecting caves like in Minecraft. There is no nerd poling ability. Dig down, game is over basically.
