The people at the end are the Star Child and Saint Celestine. The Star Child is, in TTS canon at least, the kindness and compassion of the Emperor, which he seperated from himself as said at the start of this episode. Saint Celestine is a Living Saint, effectively a "daemon" of the Emperor, a former Sister of Battle who accomplished great enough deeds to be forever reincarnated to aid the Imperium and the Adepta Sororitas in times of need. What happened at the end is the Star Child possessing Fyodor's body right before Skarbrand killed his ass.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Saint Celestine upon each death has to essentially walk through a Greek odyssey to regain her concepts of hope, weapon, and spirit before finishing by climbing the literal mountain of all her previous corpses to reunite with herself as a small, crying child which symbolizes her soul. Each time is an even greater challenge than the last and she dies A LOT and she knows instinctively that if she fails then she will never be reborn again.

To bring himself to kill Horus who was still his favorite son, the Emperor ripped his kindness and compassion away quite literally. This is why in the TTS he is so angry and says the things he does.

Fun fact: if you pause the video where it names the two armies that were used in the tabletop game, it also shows the point value of each army. The Drunkards of Russ was a 1500 point army. *Chaos Undivided was a 2500 point army.* That definitely helped me understand how the battle went the way it did. With that big of a difference in numbers and strength, all Russ and his men could do was hold the line as long as possible and hope.

Apparently, the type of battle was “Meat Grinder” which gave the chaos armies infinite troops. The goal is to survive for a set amount of turns.

@@jacthing1 Fair enough, my apologies for my poor wording there! But yeah, one of the few things I know is just how many dice you end up rolling at once...for that many d6 rolls to go that badly every roll, and that many times...oof, man. Just oof.

The Star Child is a very vague concept in 40k that has never really been fully fleshed out and has resulted in plenty of rampant speculation, even in-universe. It appears to be some form of benevelont psychic entity, the main theories are either that it's some part of the Emperor's soul, or the Compassion the Emperor discarded early, or the warp Manifistation of all the good aspects of humanity and the Imperium, or some combination of all these. It's also entirely possible none of these a true.

14:40 At the current edition of Warhammer used at the time you could not fire upon an enemy unit in melee with a friendly troop. It's dumb but it was a needed rule to make Melee units not be too weak.

Fyodor is in the warp currently, which is a realm where belief shapes all. He believed himself to be the Emperor so much so that he became a suitable vessel for a shard of the Emperor, specifically the Star Child (it embodies the once discarded humanity of the Emperor). This is why the Emperor said he means to become human once more, he wants to reunite with that shard and reclaim his humanity. Now we also know why the Emperor said to Fyodor that he was a shard of him, it was to make the Inquisitor believe that to such an extent that a possession was possible in the warp. Fyodor is no more, now a shard of the Emperor is controlling his body. The possible goal is now for the possessed Fyodor to make his way to Terra once more to reunite the Shard with the greater whole and thus restore the Emperors humanity.

yay skarbrand, he was a greater demon of khorne who had tzeentch whisper in his ear and convinced him to whack khorne..... Khorne then yeeted him out of the warp with maximum yeetness, Skarbrand wanders battlefield to battlefield trying to get daddys love back but khorne isnt known for his forgiveness. that pleading "Father?" by russ always gets me

Well atleast the star child, the one part of the emperor soul that was most kind, good and compassionate entered fyodor and basically removed the original fyodor with a better one XD
