You're bang on Dave, your videos are (very) informative about Thailand 'what it's like'...& not at all negative. This is another great & informative video 😊
@@alphaomegadaily Living there is a constant exercise in adapting on the run. The funeral experience a prime example. 5 hours of being ignored while they're mourning on their phones. For future reference, just turn up with a stack of Mad Magazines or Phantom Comics.
Most farangs that have packed up sold their homes and moved to Thailand hit a wall after about five years and regret it . At least go and live there rent a house or condo for twelve months and try it out before hand . Things aren't what they seem based on a first time all things nice monthly holiday .
Correct, the novelty will wear off, keep the attitude of gratitude keeps me on a even keel, if you are raised in the west we have a disease called MORE. Dubliner living in pai here.
@@louisdisbury9759 Hi Mate! The reason there is so much recycling in Thailand is because there is no social welfare and the people with no income are forced to go around picking plastic bottles out of dumpsters and cardboard off the streets in order to get a few dollars to survive.
It makes my city seem totally out of control We have police and ambulance bringing in drug addicts all day long to emergency ward of our hospitals then tie up a bed in er That costs way more than three hundred bucks Plus our carnage bins our usually overflowing with garbage to attract rats Thailand sounds pretty good to me In Vancouver
Yep, everything that you say is 100% exactly what westerners will experience. I live there and am married to a Thai girl, she has a son, so far so good….. you just have to accept some things, TIT, I currently work away half the year, so I can escape the Thai culture when I need to…👍
Exactly, this is why I like Dave’s channel, he tells the truth, unlike many of these new-age instagram and tik tok influencers that paint Thailand as the perfect paradise.
I rarely have a power outage in Phra Khanong. But just in case, I have a 3000VA power box that supplies my equipment with power for 24 hours, no problem at all
Since you were born in 1964, you lived for many years without a personal phone, so if you get bored, you could and I would carry a science-fiction pocket book to read, or anything to read vice depending on the internet for entertainment. But I suppose I might the the only person in Bangkok to be reading a book in public.
Agree! There are bins in the high end shopping malls, EmSphere and EmQuatier, same in Thong Lor. You should make a video in Thong Lor, different vibe at Tops in Thong Lor.
Love you honesty. Your same age as me, I couldn't cope with your life, and thanks to you I will never get involved with a thia woman...I wish you all the Best...If you could go back in time, would you do everything same ?
True. A few weeks ago there was a storm. The power went out. Wouldn't be a problem but if you live in the forest alone. The lights going out during a storm. Goodnight. 🤔🙏🌍
You should have made a RU-vid video describing the situation and showing how Thai & Filipino people will ignore the foreigner at family events due to language communication issues. They are usually embarrassed about their English.
I agree with you . Your videos are informative and educational and not about just criticize Thailand . Yes there are many on you tube who go on vacation for a few weeks and post beautiful videos around the beaches . And there is a big difference of spending time in a place on vacation somewhere or live there permanently . Do not ever get discouraged Alpha Omega and just keep going because it is important that you share your experience with us .
I enjoy what you have to say from your point of view mixed with your observations of many years of living in Thailand and your Irish brogue. I'm sure you don't give a flying #$&* about the naysayers. Keep on being you 👍
I've noticed that most Thai's are completely tolerant but not always accepting of a farang. You'rer welcome to stand around and watch if you want, but you're on your own. I also noticed a lack of garbage cans in Bangkok, I wanted to throw away a plate from some street food and couldn't find any, and after walking around with it I ended up slipping it in a pile of garbage bags sitting on the sidewalk.
happens once or twice a year in my very rural Thai village ,usually for only a couple of hours I've found Thai NHS hospitals generally pretty good but I could bend your ear for ages with stuff that drives me crazy Now ,trash bins (comment below) ,I've been here 23 years and for the first ten there were no collections ,the truck never came to the village . Now they come but you have to pay ,and stop at the odd house that is willing to splash out on a big blue bin ,otherwise do what the majority do ,just chuck it away We all speak some Thai ,but mine is not very good after all these years and it's all those stupid tones they use ,due to the lack of letters pronounced such as R ,they use L
BTW, when you're sitting outside take a look up at the powerlines from time to time. In a video I was watching I saw a rat running the powerline highway from one building to another🙂
A couple of weeks ago one of them shorted out the whole of our building when it nibbled at the wires on the street side junction box… the maintenance guys had to pull the lumps of burnt rodent off before repairs could start.😂
You should have a lap top powered up at all times in case of outages ,old Bean. Its hardly rocket science .But then you would have nothing to moan about .
yeah- it was because of the bombs in the South-However, I don't understand why that there can't be clear litter bins like they do at airports ever so often on a street.
Im standing on a road filming and preventing cars from getting around me. They ask me to move and I then say "Pedestrians are the lowest form of life". What the hell is wrong with you? YOU were in their way for crying out loud!
I don't see any being negative, I only see them being informative & what someone who's lived in Thailand for a number of years, will experience. Everyone should be grateful to Dave for showing it 'how it is' Thailand is my favourite place & will be my retirement country, being informed is highly appreciated.
There's plenty of bins and plastic bags on nearlly every corner and pole they may not be put there from the city hall but they are collect by the city hall but there's plenty of places to dispose of your rubbish and l'm talking from experience l've been travelling back and forth for 18yrs so get your facts right
