My grandfather was a carpenter. And he continued with it as a hobby till he had his stroke. I remember his planers that he had forever. One of my cousins is in construction and I believe he has them now.

I loved that you got the planes because my (late) Dad has about 5 of them. Now I can ck them out for value. The only thing is with his, I think they are antiques but not positive. Inheriting my parents' estate is so hard for many reasons.....memories, letting things go, but needing money to maintain the house they left me. It's too EMOTIONAL at times. Great video!

IMPORTANT! I have the multicolor flatware set. Two or three pieces went missing. I called Fiesta & they referred me to the Cambridge Company, who makes their flatware & they replaced the lost pieces for FREE! It won't hurt to try to replace the knife, even the faded one!

That is called the sweetheart plane. What a find! Really uncomfortable to use because there is little room between the handle and the plane. They believe that these were meant to be just either display models or part of a collection from 1 thru 4 The #1 plane is also very rare. I found a #4 dated from between 1931 -1932 at an Estate sale and this person did not have an extensive tool collection it was sitting in the basement on a plastic table next to some odds and ends. I nearly screamed out loud when I saw it. Bought it for $15 bucks. It's not going anywhere.

When my four children were small we went to yard sales all the time. They weren't popular back then (over 40 years ago). We were talked about buying other people trash, but to us they were treasures. two of my three daughters still love yard sales and thrift stores but the other one can take or leave them My son didn't care for them at all before he passed in in 2021at age 42. Oh,he did buy a lot of basketball cards in which I still have. I've had them for over 35 years. Michael Jordan's rookie card is in the collection as well as some of the other players of all times. Perhaps I will sell them one day. After watching this video. Thanks for posting it.

Those planes are awesome. I have few from my dad and father in law that go way back. I have one that’s incased in wood. Going to have to check mine out. There’s a flea market where I live and an elderly gentlemen sells them, not to bad of a price either. Have to give you credit for being realistic on what you can resell things for. Too often many of these resellers only show the highest sold price one or tell you how much they can get thinking you're stupid and can't look at Ebay solds yourself. Great video - keep up the good work - you two are enjoyable to watch and I'm learning what new items to keep an I out for even though I've sold for 25 yrs.

Right on with your appreciation of Julian, being straight up about cost! There’s a reseller I guess i’ll say his name the Philadelphia phillper I commented to him regarding one yard sale he had showed a really big profit on some interesting items just showing what he paid, and what they sold for on eBay. I asked what his bottom line profit was. He came back, saying everyone usually gets plus shipping, and everyone knows they’re shipping cost. I watched him in a few post afterwards, and he comes off as a braggart, and A blow hard! Seem to be really arrogant! In contrast for example, the pro picker Dustin he is so transparent in the extreme he breaks down every cost, eBay fees, shipping cost, shipping supplies, gas, taxes, everything! And he was very clear that the price is shown on eBay solds. May not be what you can get! I share your appreciation for Julian As well!

My pet peeves are vloggers over valuating what an item will sell for and dickering with a person when an item is priced fairly and they know they are going to make a big profit on it. I have no problem with bundling but hate resellers who know they are going to score a huge profit on the $5 item and then offer the person $2.

The "precious moments" guy said he had no idea what to charge so he said "five dollars?" and she offered him two dollars, knowing that she was going to score a huge profit. I'm not judging here publicly, but that is precisely the game being played here: get everything as cheap as possible and sell as high as possible.

We close to 200 items posted to my ebay store. Mary keeps wondering of how you guys n others get so much posted daily to your sites. We lucky between the two of us of getting maybe 8 to 10 items every few days . I'm also working full-time job of 2nd shift janitor plus she has to tend to grandboy all day. Paid WAY to much for the planes in that condition. In my area, I won't pay more than 2 bucks because your looking at multiple hours of cleaning to make them usable. I recently bought a come&go plane(cuts tongue's and grooves) it's well over 120 years old, and in much better condition for 2 bucks. Rust pits metal, so buy wisely if you plan to restore it for use in woodworking. There's plenty of them out there, be patient.

bro,most of the blades are bent or uneven...you will never get the prices you checked out, and also you have the blade sticking out on some and set them right on the blade, always lay them on the side with the blade exposed.

I've been collecting antique planes for many years. The seargent is trash, worth $0. That wood transitional plane is maybe worth 10-$15. The #5 appears to be a type 13 in absolute terrible condition, its a user valued around $10. The #2s are getting hard to come by, kinda, but in that condition I'd pay no more than $150. Using ebay to value planes is not accurate, I can tell that's where your getting your pricing. Real users and collectors go to tool shows, tailgate shows, ect.
