I was born in 1964, the 70’s were FANTASTIC, the music, the clothes, the way things were new and life was a lot gentler. You knew where you stood and there was a LOT less bs in the world. Common sense has deteriorated so much since then.

well, everyone thinks like you guys do regardless of the year they were born (except for kids under 20, they will often say i wish i was born 20 or 30 years earlier. But when those same kids hit 40, they are going to say the early 2000´s were the best time to be alive, i wouldn´t change a thing. Of course being a kid were the best times for most everyone. Regardless of the years. It´s always unique, regardless of the years to the kid.

@north2green
@north2green 9 месяцев назад
lol i love when i read people saying stuff like this. Everybody always thinks the years they were kids were the best years where everyone else did not have the freedom and fun times that they had. You know why, because that means you´re thinking like an old guy and can´t face reality, which is today kids have it just as good as we did (I was born in 1969). I mean you know how good kids have it today? So good that you are actually wasting your time with things that kids are growing up with today (youtube, internet, etc etc etc)...yet our parents were not wasting their time with things we played with in the 1970´s....Fact is every generation has some great things and some awful things. Every generation is for the most part equal. Music to a kid in the 1960´s was just as good as music to a kid in the 2000´s...so people need to get over themselves, nobody was lucky to be alive at a certain time. Even kids in russia under stalin probably think their childhoods were the best lol

I was born in ‘62. I can relate to a lot of comments here. But one thing that strikes me the most when I see old photos back in the ‘70’s is how healthy and happy people look. I know in Australia it was the decade that gave rise to fast food chains. They were fun at the time, but, I think in the long term, we’ve all got a little bit fatter for the enjoyment. I loved the ‘70’s. The most carefree decade of my life.
@kjcile8334
@kjcile8334 9 месяцев назад
Fast food chains took pride in their food because they were in competition with the other 1 or 2 restaurants in town. Good food that was cheaper & faster compared to now it's profit over people & it's not really food they serve. We don't know what the hell is in our food. It's hard to see where we came from compared to where we are now.

Turned 18 and graduated high school in 1974. We had the best music (pre-disco), '60s muscle cars were affordable, people weren't so angry like they are today, drinking age was 18. We just wanted to cruise around, pick up chicks and party. Not a care in the world with our whole lives ahead of us. To this day, I'm still lost in the '70s and own several '60s and '70s muscle cars, my Sansui 9090DB receiver, technics turn table and cassette deck and SP-X9000 speakers along with a pretty extensive vinyl collection. I even have a pair of square toed Fry boots. 😁 Today's advancements in technology sure has made life much easier but man, what I'd do to be able to go back to the mid '70s for just one week (of course knowing now what I didn't know then). That would make a great story line for a movie. Boomers would eat it up.

I was only 5 the year you graduated and 11 when the decade closed, but I was "the baby" with older siblings so, got exposed to more from life in the 70's than a lot of other kids my age. One of the best was all the music my sister and her friends introduced me to. From Led Zepplin & Early Kiss to Earth Wind and Fire, Rick James and everything in between. There was always music. I enjoyed my teens in the 80's, but if it were possible to go back to any decade, I'd choose the 70's.

Times were much simpler back then and people got along. No one got offended over the slightest thing. There was still trust in the media. People got along regardless of race ethnic background. Maybe living in Canada race relations wasn't as big issue it was in the US. i remember my parents' closet friends were interracial couples in the late 60s and early 1970s. Never occured to me and my sibs they were interracial they were just good friends of my parents and I remember many nights they would set up the kitchen table drink beer or wine smoked and play rumoli or play the game at thier appartments. There was a black couple that had no kids of thier own. They were parents' best friends they often joined in. Good people sadly all are gone now my parents included.

@@oldgordo61There were of course some pockets of the country that still had issues or occasionally with those much older who were set in their ways, but for the most part the majority of people had no issues. Most people could care less what you looked like, just that you were a cool and decent person.

Riding bikes, swimming, fishing, camping, hoola hoops, roller skates, skate boarding, my mom had the big wooden spoon and fork hanging in our kitchen, the big macrame owl. We played with clackers (many a bruised knuckle, lol). Slinkys, metal lunch boxes, paper bag lunches, bell bottoms and halter tops. Drive in movies!!! Those were the best of times ever. We had some 8 Track tapes, but mostly bought vinyl LP’s and 45’s. We listened to Casey Kasum’s American Top 40 every week and looked at Billboard magazine at the record store at the mall to see which songs were moving up the chart towards No. 1. The fast moving songs had a star printed next to their title. Those were great times.

That was about the time my Father and Brother would visit me a bit more often in my room. Great music was coming out and when you or a friend bought the new album you would call your friends to come over and listen. My father brought home the Pong game console... and he often said he'd wished he never had... many an hour was spent playing that with my brother... and many a fight broke out over it. I also remember seeing Star Wars in the theatre... I was 11... LOVED it. Watched a ton of TV back then... Gilligans Isle... Brady Bunch... Lost in Space... re-runs of Star Trek... you name it. Also watched Batman. I remember helping my brother with his paper route every afternoon so we could hurry home to watch those... and out vote my sister who wanted to watch Little House or The Waltons... or something ew... Star Trek and Batman... and having Satin shorts... and sequins on everything...

I can't believe that this actually made me cry for the times. As we come upon Christmas & I sit here alone it brought me back to the excitement of decorating, family, big dinners & all that came with it. I've buried my children. I went with my sister's last Sat. to dinner & saw the lights. That was my family time. Granted I'm not so sad about family because the meaning behind Christmas was supposed to be about Jesus & all of that. I'm really sad to see just how far opposite it has become. Adults get so stressed out that by the time it's the actual day & the gifts have been opened the family dinners tend to end up with a fight. I dread holidays in my apartment building due to the fact there's usually the police coming for a fight that has broken out somewhere. People get drunk & let out the stress of the shopping, cooking & cleaning that is focused now on the holiday. I do laugh about disco because there's a perfect scene if you've seen That 70's show where they caught Eric skating at the roller rink. That was totally me. I was a rocker but I "secretly" would go to my uncles church & made up dances with a guy who was like Fez & would go to the rink or dance halls. I do love to dance. I had my bike with my banana seat & my 1st "10 speed" that you'd always get your bell bottoms stuck in. The clackers 2 glass balls & a string were very dangerous. Both me & my sister can attend to those as they ended up in many fights. We'd walk from one end of town to the other back & forth all night from 1 friend to another & wouldn't contemplate the distance. Never would we think of expecting a ride but happy if we did get one & if we did it was usually so packed the driver barely had enough room to drive. And that brings me to the biggest memory of all that they forgot. THE DRIVE IN. Who went to watch a movie? Well some people did. Other's would bring a keg or bunch of alcohol & we'd walk from area to area visiting our friends. I doubt anyone will see this & I missed a lot of things but it sure brought back a lot of great memories both good & bad. Mostly good but sad how different things are now.

I too share in the loneliness. It's only me and has been for many years. I have no family- oh I have distant relatives, but thats not the same and indeed they are distant- in miles or bloodline. (Some are just a lil too weird ). Dear lord it's painful. To be alone constantly. I haven't many friends at all. I have 2 neighbors I am quite close to and 2, I am very friendly and yeah close, but I do have one that is - family. But still, they are across the street or across the back yard, it isn't the closeness of a family in your nest. It's terribly lonely. I too have lost a boy. I haven't sought help for my grieving and I really should --its been 3 yrs and still feel it crush me inside as though it was yesterday. I suppose when you have a family structure you receive the help organically. Hummm. Well, it is what it is. I do find myself waxing nostalgic for yesteryear and at times I get lost in it, of happier times. This isn't the world we grew up in. I've heard this generation speak to the fact that my/our generation was the very last of its kind - and that life forward - the generation next (our offspring) will have never known what a free spirit, a sense of comfort in the world, hope for a bright future, and the existence of imagination-- is gone. It's not the same world and they get it. Well. Those who care enough to see it and understand the space they live in is not the space of their fathers. They can see and hear tell of these times and truly wish for it and grieve that they never had that chance to experience a sense of freedom and safety. We are the last of our kind. The last generation whom had innocence, wonderment and joy. Those of this new generation or two Pehaps 3 (okay now I really feel old) who have eyes open, can see it and have said as much - they grieve for a life they never had a chance to experience.

We had wood paneling and the Sears Pong Sports IV game console. I never had shag carpeting but still want it, my best friend's neighbor had white shag carpeting. Star Wars is the first movie I have any memory of seeing at the theater, we went to a drive-in, I thought it was a boring adult drama due to Luke complaining about doing chores. One of my favorite things as a kid was listening to my Dad's 8-track collection and Mom's 45 record collection, she used to live next to a jukebox maintenance person and he would sell used records to the children in the neighborhood. The first season of SNL will never be surpassed. So many great memories.

I though it died once because it wasn't breathing, so I gave it CPR, chipped a tooth, he was stone cold dead.😉😂 You didn't want to drop something small in the shag carpet, or it would disappear. The craziest, and greatest, two decades were the 60's and 70's. Thanks for this video, brought back good memories.

I still have a box of 8-Track tapes. I remember wearing corduroy pants and Nike sneakers. Tube socks for sure. I remember raking the shag carpeting. Getting our first VCR. Seeing Star Wars 7 times in the theaters. Walking out into the parking lot after seeing Jaws for the first time. Such vivid memories.

I was born in 57" ,teenage yrs in the 70s! Saw all the rock bands live! We were the first on the block to have shag carpet,cable tv,microwave oven and Atari system! Needless to say our house was very popular! My first car was a pass me down 66" mustang with a newly installed 8 track player! Drinking age was 18,and we always had a friend or sibling who was paid to pick us up a 8 pack of Miller Nips! The best time of my life! Thank you all my friends and family and bands for a wonderful decade! Rock on and Peace! ❤❤❤

My mother gave me bowl cuts , but I didn't want them ! Looking back , the 70s were awsome , you DEFINITELY had WAY more freedoms , now days the current life is normal to this generation , but it's disgusting when I think back and think of all the freedoms our country has lost. I was 7 years old when JAWS came out, I was scared to go to the toilet after that ! Lol , STAR WARS was mind blowing , never was a movie before that , that even came close to how big that was . Can't wait to introduce my grand kids to the music and freedoms that made it special to me.

Man, oh man, I haven't seen a collective walk down memory lane video like that previously. Wow! That tugged on the heart strings as it made me remember people I lost in addition to Hamburger Helper and clackers and 8-tracks. I am so glad I grew up when I did. Truly. I miss the way many things were and were done in the 70s every day. We had the best music, the best movies, the best tv, the best clothes, yeah, the best of everything, really.

They really were the best of times. Probably the last generation that didn't have to be constrained by the "nanny state" of helmets, seatbelts and rules and regulations covering every aspect of ones life. Jumped on your dragster bike first thing in the morning and rode around all day until it was too dark to see, unless of course you had lights.

Born in 67, I recall all of this except the owls. Being that i wasn't a teen until the 80's, there was no Jaws and Discos for me. I still saw Jaws, but it's just as well for Discos because it wasn't my kind of music. Rock was my thing, and 79 sent me to Pink Floyd, opening up a new world. Didn't have a pet rock myself, but I did have most everything else.

I was born in 1953 and remember the 60’s I grew up with the beginning of Rock and Roll. The British Invasion then Southern Rock to Queen the 80’s were great, but the music started changing, and I went to country music in the 90’s then as far as was concerned the music died. The melody was gone. Sad ! I’m so happy the young generation started doing reaction videos so y’all could hear where the music came from. I forgot about Motown in the 60’s now that was my favorite the Temptations (My Girl) The Supremes ! Oh my gosh I grew up listening to the best music of all time!
