If You Have A Tour Pack On Your Harley Davidson, You Have A Problem. 

I brought a advanblack tour pack 5 years ago, luvved it, then it cracked exactly as you are describing. I contacted advanblack told them what had happened and sent them pics, I wasn't expecting anything back as I had owned it 4 YEARS! Guess what, Advanblack came back and said they would replace it FREE OF CHARGE :). all I had to do was pay shipping, this was an amazing offer especially as my tour pac was the Candy Hot Rod Red Flake colour which is expensive upgrade. Lock the tour pak, especially if you have something on the rack. Put anything on the rack, and it adds extra stress. I always locked the tour pak when there is a bag on top, makes it much stronger. Never had a crack, and I’ve been doing this for 20 years.

I welded my wings on about 6 years ago. I figured a bigger surface area was better than the that little foot print. It's funny to see someone else came up with that same idea. Rock on 🤘 Advanblack

I had the original advan bracket and the tour pack was flexing enough the latch broke and the lid opened on the interstate. I emailed them about the issue. They sent me a new bracket and latch kit and only charged me shipping. Note I was a full year out of warranty and expected to buy parts to fix. I emailed for advice on why and what I needed to fix it. They made me a customer for life.

I can’t say enough good things about AB’s customer service. Bought one of their boxes two years ago and within about 500 miles, had the lid fly open while riding because they didn’t put any loctite in the latch hardware. They quickly sent out a new box. Then about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the sides of my box started cracking. Again, they sent out a new box and only asked me to cover shipping. Since they don’t make the new rack for softails yet, I’m stuck with the old design. But assuming that their adapter for the light for the LRST works with other M8 softails, they’re gonna get some cash from me during Sturgis.

Well , I have a 2023 RG Limited. I will inspect mine and get ready to replace it . I had no idea , I would have known about the issue when the tour pack fell off 😂 . I enjoy your videos 👍

I've owned several touring model HDs in my life and also owned a BMW. You wouldn't believe how much more simplified their luggage rack & tour paks are, their tour paks also come off in a nanosecond. Damn shame HD can't make something reliable, even their tour paks are garbage. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have a tour pack for my RGS and it is only on the bike when I go on an extended road trip. I expect it to last at lot longer than one that never comes of.

Yes, I've talked to Steve at SIK, been subbed to his channel at least 5 years now. Just bought a new '23 Ultra Limited and I live this tour pack better than the 2 previous tour packs I bought from Advanblack. The last one was junk and kept cracking in the latch hinges and the latch hinge pin kept working its way out AND the shitty design where the passenger backrest fasteners doesn't have a flat surface to snug against. Harley OEM tour pack is far superior and no wonder they cost twice as much.

Looking forward to seeing the rear end rebuild.

i have a 2024 Road Glide ST Fast Johnnie. I got the Harley King Tour pack, with the Harley mounting bracket, and i started seeing this plate option around. I started kind of freaking out, because shits not cheap, and i thought the same thing.....this is so obviously a necessity!!! Weak points in the plastic or fiberglass or whatever they use to make em. So, i went out to check my king tour pack to confirm i did not have one, and see what i needed. HOWEVER, the new king tour packs, have a metal plat" t5hat actually doesn't sit flat in the tour pack, its slightly elevated to compensate for that dip in the bottom of the tour pack. Wonder if this is new, and eliminates the need for these other plates?

It would be extra cool if they made it adjustable because I know some of them women that got junk in the trunk could use the extra space, especially when they’re sitting behind, handsome burley men like us also known as fat old men

The main problem with the tour pack is once u use one you will miss the storage when u take it off.. But I hate the damn pizza box. it’s the only backrest solution that will fit with the rear suspension I have on there and like I said I love not having to stuff my bags to the hilt .. good thing it’s 5 secs to change on and off

Will the rack work with the tour pak relocation hardware? I have an extended reach seat and the wife wanted more room so I put the plates on bottom so I could slide it back 4 inches. That rack would be great for us we load up and take week long trips on the bike. We all know how women pack so the Rickrak suitcase on top of the tour pak isn’t light.

Mine constantly keeps breaking the plastic grommets that connect to the mount, and the quick release lock pins keep breaking too. I've adjusted the oval to have it sit right, but still breaks. Any suggestions and what grommets to use so it don't bounce while going down the road?

Ridiculous to headline this as "you have a problem". I have carried the same tourpak from my '15 to '19 and now my '24 RG. Not a single crack. No flex. You just have to do it right to start and not overload.

I would think you would want a washer under the bolt head inside the tour pack. Seems like a lot of pressure on a small plastic surface.
