JK Rowling is an absolute legend. Not everyone can do what she did. And I am not even talking about the books-in the delusional world we live in, she is somehow capable of containing her imagination to her books and isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. Takes guts to say what she said. Takes guts to stand up for women as a woman and not let men obliterate women.

Thank you for taking the time to create this. I have been looking for alternatives, and this has given me some great alternatives. I would also add the Discworld novels, particularly the witch's novels such as Equal Rites.

Nevermoor and Amari are wonderful! 💕 Been wanting to pick up The Girl Who Drank the Moon for a long time now! I just love the idea of a confused witch being like “why children???” Skyward is great :) ✨

Amari and Nevermoor opened my eyes to the wondrous world of middle grade and I will forever love them for that!! Such delightful stories!! I can't wait to reread Fireborne (and binge out the trilogy) soon! And ugh, is it January already, I *need* to read Hell Bent asap. Probably gonna do a reread of Ninth House, because it's been a while, lol. Great recs, loved this video!!

I have been loving middle grade lately, for myself and my daughter is getting to the age where that's where she is reading now and I love that! Fireborne is FANTASTIC and with book 3 out is is perfect to binge! I pre-ordered Hell Bent and CANT WAIT!

I do feel like a lot of people forget it is middle grade too, I mean it feels older as the books go on but it is definitely middle grade

Not you using Harry potter series in the title for attracting people and then talking shit about the series and the author. These books might be good but harry potter is a literal masterpiece. Why arent these books as popular as the series if they are far better?

The Harry Potter books are overly long, bloated, philosophically shallow, slavery apologist drivel with admittedly compelling world building. Which is why they have mass appeal with philosophically shallow, slavery apologist white people. For the love of God, its a story about bigotry where one of the love interests is called Cho Chang. But I agree it's a masterpiece in that it is the best that an incurious white woman could have made. Ultimately tho, a blanket rejection of bigotry as a concept does nothing to actually reject bigotry if it does not also demonstrate an understanding of it.

Doing a video using Harry Potter to attract people yet shading the books and the genius author. JK Rowling is a legend , who has donated so much to charity she takes herself of the billionare list, and yet is now crucified for trying to protect the rights of women by other women. pretty pathetic.
