what a great video! perfect timing as well since i'm going on a book shopping spree today :) the four humors has been on my list for a while now, so hopefully i'll get it today - need to fill the idiot shaped hole desperately
This was such a great video! I love how you broke up the specific themes of the book and gave recommendations on that. I added a lot of these to my TBR.
Thank you for these lovely recs Ceren!! I love zadie smith but havent read On Beauty so i definitely have put that on my tbr for now! Also loved your thoughts in the beginning and they got me thinking about my own relationship to books and female characters!!
Need to get a gift for a friend, who's a student of Linguistics, and The Idiot by Batuman (which I read and adored) came to mind as an obvious choice, but this video might broaden my choices! Thank you for this!!
love this video and your thoughts on the flattened form of consuming literature/media that seems so pervasive today! i think you'd enjoy ayesha siddiqi's latest newsletter which sort of touches on this. this is also such a fun way of recommending books xx
Yes! Reading The Idiot at 29 years old, I found myself siding with Selin’s mother and her opinions more than any other character. Makes me laugh to think about because I know for certain 19 year old me would’ve idolized Selin and Ivan 🥴😂
