"If Your Bishop Be Heretical, Flee, Flee, Flee as From Fire and a Serpent" 

With respect to St. Paisios, he wrote - and I have seen the letter, in the cell of my elder, in the saint's own hand, that we MUST stop commemorating the Patriarch of Constantinople. This was the universal practice on Mt. Athos, with very few exceptions, until about 1974. In the cell of my elder, Father Gabriel the Athonite, the Patriarch is not commemorated. In the brotherhood of Elder Raphael, my elder's spiritual brother, the Patriarch is not commemorated (nor is the name of any of the schismatic Greek Old-Calendarist bishops). When St. Porphyrios become a monk in Kavsokalivia on Mt. Athos, the Patriarch was almost surely not commemorated there, and St. Porphyrios strongly desired to be buried on Mt. Athos, which he was, in order to have the benefit of the Old Calendar. I cannot speak for those who lack the courage to institute this practice of the holy and God-bearing fathers of Mt. Athos in our time. I can tell you that the Patriarch, to this day, makes criminals of any Athonite hieromonk who keeps this historic practice. I can also tell you that St. Nilus the Myrrh-Gusher of Mt. Athos prophesied: "In the last days, the Holy community of Mt. Athos will openly side with the Anti-Christ, which will lead to the Mother of God withdrawing her presence from Athos, and the Holy Mountain being cast down into the sea." I am still shocked at how quickly the Athonites of today - with the exceptions that I have mentioned - seem to be trying to bring this prophecy to fruition as quickly as possible. There is also a prophecy, likely soon to come true, that Moslem soldiers will slaughter Athonite monks, piling up their corpses in front of the post office in Karyes, the capital of Mt. Athos, and that these deaths will NOT be counted by God as martyric; now, we see why: they will have died after failing to confess the faith. May God have mercy upon us all, in these latter days. I must also emphasize: my elder strictly forbids concelebration with the Greek Old-Calendarists, in our day, because they too have become schismatic. We have temptations from the left and from the right; in order to be saved, we ought to walk the middle path; according to St. Paisios, whose rule my elder keeps, the path of non-commemoration is the middle way, the Royal road that leads to life, without falling into either heresy or schism. For this, we must suffer. But take heart, according to the prophecy of St. Porphyrios, "Jesus Christ will change the crew on his ship," meaning that these heresiarchs and their clergy will be ejected from the church; this is the work of twice-Chrismated Orthodox kings, who walk among us even now, and who will be enthroned following the third World War, which is now upon us.
