The MOST important thing ALL of us can do is get in the best physical shape possible. You showed people how to do that with your walking channel. Before you can bug out, you have to be able to get off the couch! It’s hard, but so important.

I live in hurricane country. Always have a day pack and a 72 hour pack ready to go. It's important to update it once a year.

People might think it's funny but when there's a really bad storm I put in my in my pocket my money my keys my information I have all my stuff ready to go and shorts with cargo pockets on them so I can stick all that stuff in. I started my first go bag for when my husband had to go to the ER and get hospital admission. I’d always find myself there with nothing that I needed. I eventually packed him and me a bag to keep by the door just incase. My bags have evolved now.

Good recommendations, Mike! We have all of these devices. We also have a multi-band radio that runs on batteries, but also has a small solar panel and a hand crank. It's never wrong to know what's going on in the world. But we decided that we will stay. We will not surrender. We are prepared. We will survive and we will thrive. Where will we go if we leave our property with only a bag? We have animals, we have to feed them, they can't survive without us. There is no way I would leave them alone. Life is not endless, and one day we will have to leave this construct one way or another. We can die any day, we can even die on the run when disaster strikes. I will not let them get all my supplies that I have spent 3 years buying, growing, processing and preserving. If anyone comes after me, they will go with me! Yes, we have, as we say in German, an "Meinungsverstärker", I don't know how to translate it, maybe as "opinion-intensifier".😂 We live in a very rural area in Portugal.

I would suggest a few trash bags many uses. Neosporin and burn cream for first aid. Cotton balls and Vaseline great fire starter.

I watch a couple of channels that can help you remember everything you'll need. And it shows you what to do with them. Dip those matches in wax and put them in a couple different places, in pill bottles or mini M&M tubes. So if you lose one bag you still have your basics in another bag too. I take dryer lint put them in egg cartons melt old crayons or candles or just buy some wax. After melting whatever you have pour it over the lint in your egg cartons. Let them cool and harden. Pop them out of the cartons. And put some in 2 - 3 places so you always have almost free fire starters.

Some good ideas in this video to think about. I live in the city and if a hurricane or tornado hit and did a lot of damage, there could be looting. I never thought about leaving the place and come back later, but it might be wise to at least be prepared for that. I can walk but I wouldn't want to carry too much stuff, just some basic items. I don't have a bicycle, but have been thinking of getting one.

I think I like this kind of stuff, you have given me several ideas and options. Example being, I couldn’t handle a pew pew, but a knife would be good, or a defense spray. In the future I would be interested to hear what ideas you have about makeshift sheltering for immediate danger, we all hear about what to do in a tornado, but if the crud hits, where do we hide ?

I do have a soft bag insdie it, incase I have to break it down, but I don't have a Bug Out bag. I have 2 5 gallon bug out buckets with Gama spin on lids that keep the buckets water tight. Lots of first aid supplies. If I had to have them I have enough stuff I can get stitches for a wound, Epi Pens etc. But in a bad situaiton, I'll grab the 2 buckets, throw then in the truck and away I go. The reason I use the water tight buckets is to keep everything dry. If I have to cross a river, they'll float. I can hug one and kick my way across the river, or a short rope to hold to the 2 buckets together and swim across the creek or river and all my goods are safe. Then I have the soft bag, if I need to stash the buckets, I can get out the soft bag and put only the survival items in it. If I need other items, I can make my way back to the stashed buckets to get supplies, dry food, whatever. So done right, you can have 2-3 stages of supplies. You might have to abandoned some stuff, but 2 5 gallon buckets usually isn't to much to carry, and keep a short rope out to keep the 2 together. The long rope too in case you need to climb a tree, then you can pull the buckets up to yourself. Oh yeah and the pew pew and ammo is a must. If not for self defense, maybe for lunch. I do also have fish hooks, line, weight and bobber in my kit. You can always hang the line off a stick or tree branch. So many things you can easily carry that dont take up hardly any space at all. Also have an almost quart size bottle of non fragranced bleach. You can sanitize hundreds of gallons of water with a small bottle of bleach. Bleach also good for wiping yourself down if you get into poison oak or ivy. As you said, get together with friends and share ideas. Also have some PEOPLE YOU TRUST if there is such a thing. Your Ride or Die friends. You'll be stronger in #'s. And that one loud mouth not so smart friend, well, sorry guy.... Don't make him part of your plan. You don't want him to give you away, or someone who talks and tells your plan to everyone else or what you have or where you go. I know it sounds finatical, but in this day and time, it's really not. Sad it's that way, but it really is and the sheep will tell you that your just being crazy. It's not crazy, it's being prepared. Do you call Boy Scouts Crazy??? They're not. Their motto is, Be Prepared !!!
