Would rather have the new wave of old school death metal bands than the deathcore/metalcore/slam problems we got running around. I actually enjoy Skeletal Remains.
@@_I_Excalibur_I_Tooth and nail, when heaven comes down, dont close your eyes, turn up the action and kiss of death are the few metal songs from dokken.
@@_I_Excalibur_I_ Only tooth and nail era had glam image (eye outliners), I am glad they cooled it off almost immediately. Under lock and key still had that colourful glam look but no eye outliner. Back for the attack (1987) is when I can't notice anything glam like in their image as they mostly wear black clothes. Wasp is another band which had cringe image but the songs were pretty much standard heavy metal.
You gotta sift through 50 albums minimum to find one quality album. The shameless copying of classic bands, PC lyrics/themes, and conformity of the PC fanbase rewards failure resulting into mediocre metal.
Imagine if every Florida dm band sounded exactly like later Obituary. If that was the case Florida dm would be the equivalent of deathcore. There is more death metal diversity in a state or city in the USA or Europe then their is in the entire deathcore genre.
You didn't listen deep enough. Try to listen Hate.Malice.Revenge by All Shall Perish or spit or swallow by Konkhra. There's some brutal deathcore that has nothing to do with these Chelsea grin or whatever is their name crap
@@battoreddu9303 I listened to All Shall Perish a couple years ago. They might be the best of the deathcore bands but their music does not do that much for me.
@@battoreddu9303 Deathcore formula is whiny lyrics about social problems, broken hearts, hating parents, or uninformed socialist themes. Lot's of breakdowns, but no actual riffs, wimpy screaming vocals over breakdowns, clean wimpy vocals that whine, and occasionally keyboards to making the music melodramatic.
I am an old metalhead that still buys music, and will till I am dead. Whenever I hear kids bash classics or talk about how "old school" they are I know they're full of crap. It's like combat; those that've been in the shit never talk, but those that haven't run their faces.
I may not agree with you much, but damn, it's refreshing to hear someone actually speak their mind and not give a hoot about hurting a pansy's delicate feelings.
I knew the game was rigged when Lars said he was soaking up Alanis Morissette and Oasis albums and calling Norwegian Black Metal “Norwegian Death Metal”. POOOOOOSSSSSEEERRRRRR!
34 yrs old and I will still gatekeep music that came out before my time. Havnt watched the video yet. But this is my issue with the younger metal heads. They are all about "inclusion" and swinging the gates wide open for anyone. I'm interested to hear what you have to say and compare notes.
Jdawg is right, we definitely need more fans and less mediocre bands. Deathcore needs to just go away, sadly it probably won't. Newer bands like Moulder are awesome though.
I find it really weird that there are actual extreme metal musicians who are clueless when it comes to bands. Recently saw someone who plays in a death metal band do a box opening video, the box contained merch from various death metal bands. it was all common shit any death metal fan should recognize, but didnt recognize bands like Sentenced, Unleashed, Sarcofago, Benediction, Protector, Malevolent Creation. How are you a death metal fan, playing in a band and have never heard of Unleashed?
War and pain, rrroooaaarr, and killing technology was good from voivod. And voivod sounded good in concert 🤘🤘 violence actually kinda sucked live 1991. Anyhow I think voivod along with nuclear Assault, rotting corpse, carnivore, bloodfeast, DBC, Virus, At war, Omen....were great at the time before testament, violence rigor mortis.... Came out. Talking on the thrash metal tip. Also I gotta give it to Coven 🤘🤘 and even i.n.c. !!
I'm 31 my old metal coach got me into extreme metal in 2005 a year after scars of the crucifix by deicide in 2004 ...all I knew was mercyful fate celtic frost cannibal corpse slayer i read this book metal at heart at 14
I gave up trying to make it in a band a long time ago, but still have fun playing guitar as a hobby. It’s good fun getting together with the boys, drinking some beers, and jamming out.
That's spot on...too many bands not enough fans.everyone I know that plays metal listens to other kindsof music than actual metal bands...the punks I know who play in hardcore or punk bands listen to more metal than punk 3:08
That’s why I don’t try to act like a know it all. I’m a year older than J Dawg, and been listening to metal since 98/99, but there’s always somebody that knows more than you. Even some of the young bucks in the comments here could probably school me on certain things 🤷♂️
75% of band members not into metal?!?! Damn! That's disappointing, but I have noticed the bigger a band gets the more accepting and the more praise they give to music that sucks. WTF? Dawg the truth is killing me.
I didn't start to appreciate CC until George joined. When you were a tape trader back in the late 80s, early 90s, it was trendy (and elitist) to hate on the more "mainstream" DM bands like CC and Deicide. I remember the panic we all felt when Immolation signed to Roadrunner, but were quickly relieved when they didn't record at Morrisound and dropped one of the best Death Metal albums of all time, Dawn of Possession. It was also trendy to hate on people who had the Relativity US releases of all the Earache albums, we were cooler because we had Realm of Chaos and Reek of Putrefaction a year before you, and had to pay import prices lol
and fast forward to the 2010s and now where it's popular to crap on death metal bands like Death and all them but wear their tshirts. especially in the rap culture.
And DM people would make fun of us BM people. I liked DM but was decidedly BM and you guys would call us goths (which we weren't). Thrash guys hated us both.
@@bryansc025 I was down with Black Metal back then too, loved A Blaze in the Northern Sky when it came out.... I outgrew the elitist gate keeping bullshit by the time I left my teen years lol it was really about keeping the music underground and discouraging poseurs from turning the extreme metal scene mainstream, like they did with Thrash several years earlier.
I'm 21 and only play the classics, Dawg. That's just my upbringing, getting tapes from my uncle. I talk to some of the older guys at metal gigs outside over a smoke, they have the experience and knowledge. They're telling me what's going down, never the other way around.
J-Dawg, on the matter of high cuisine, what is your favorite sammich from the Arby's menu? And have you ever hit up Arby's after a solid pump at the gym? When your anabolic window is wide open and burning hot like a poser incinerating furnace while jammin' to Butchered at Birth in your Kia. I can see this all in my minds eye with disturbing clarity, so vivid, so real. Betting your big on their beef n' cheddars.
I'm not so sure about Malevolent Creation not liking The Will to Kill brah brah, I watched an interview with Brett and Phil and Phil said he likes all the albums and this was around the Invidious Dominion tour.
Even if they don't like their music they'll lie to sell their music. One thing about Metallica is they play songs off their worst albums live cause it's about sales whether they actually like the songs or not. Besides, that boldness is metal attitude and a fuck you to those that hate 'em.
If ya don’t listen to death metal Why are they in a band… they’re used to it. Explain how Hell’s is a website, but nobody has improved the website or updated the look in 15 years???
The site looks just fine and it's functionality is as good as it gets, I placed an order 2 days ago, it's a very straight-forward process. Get your facts right.

All the old metal head my age stop buying anything when Death and Morbed Angel came it was to heavy and they had Metallica Megadeth ect ect that's all they need not me bought Kreator love it play it for older metal heads like it but not for them Cannibal corpse same thing
I play drums and trying to figure guitar but let's be honest if you are doing death or black metal band you realistically be doing it as vanity project and not expecting to change the underground.
I remember having that vile beast of abomination cd and the liner notes mentioned that cannibal corpse went to see Goreaphobia and were influenced by them!🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Best "new" band is Insurrexión (Chile), in my opinion. And I would bet my whole damn collection that they know their shit and own actual physical copies. I'd also put House of Atreus in there as well. Good fucking band. And yeah, I'm liking the interviews as well. Will never does interviews. I met him like 15 years ago, bought some CDs from him, talked a bit. Cool guy.
I have no idea. Just talked for a few minutes about music and movies and that was about it. I'm 6' and he was much shorter than myself. Though, he was built like a bulldozer when I met him.
Jdawg, what is nonrock/nonmetal music you respect but don't like? You don't seem to like any jazz and classical but it is respectable music. I like a little bit of jazz but I respect most of it more so then liking it. But I do like classical, but some composers I respect but don't like much.
@@bernabefernandeztouceda7315 Never heard of him, I am a bit of a classical music layman. I know the big names. But after reading about him I don't want to like him.

I am 43 and was a death metaller in cuba. I love the channel. YOU will always have to go back to the classics in death metal. Otherwise you dont know what your doing.
unfortunately I'm definitely someone who spends more time on my music and instruments than I do listening to others.. but have made a point of listening to an album a day and buying one a week (As much as funds allow, I'm one of those hobo types).. and a daily youtube search by upload within the hour for genres.. (tends to be though that I still listen to alot of the shit I liked as a teen ofcourse.. and mosta that.. is noise). On a side, Tomb of the mutilated's a fucking banger.. been listening to quite a bit lately
@ianswift3521 everything with Brett Hoffman rules in my book. On some days, it could be in my top 5, depending on my mood. I was just listening to that one earlier today. Kill Zone is such a great song!
Dagon is innocent. It's a BS police report, media hearsay, and rubes that take the bait. Meanwhile the same people crying about Dagon got no problem with Varg, Emperor, Dissection, Absurd, or Jack Owen formerly of CC. All of them were convicted, but Dagon wasn't. Y' all are hypocritical posers.
Which article? The one that was posted by a website that's been after the guy's ass, since they discovered his band wrote a song called "Crush the Jewish Prophet"?
Take out the sludge from your ads and you might get some actual death metal players interested. Melvins, Clutch and shit is a big turnoff to anyone wanting to play death metal.
@@pathologist..23i’d say it was good up til about season 5. You genuinely do have some phenomenal episodes. And, like Always Sunny, the show really started to drop in quality when the camera/production quality got better.
@promisedagony For him, certainly, considering the number of probable marks around. For anyone with a smidgeon of self-respect, it's downright repulsive. Talking about metal should be a joy and a hobby. Monetizing it tells me everything I need to know about the guy.
I'm 54, did radio, zines and a crappy band (GAUNTLET....THE original from fucking Alberta, Canada) and I don't have a fave band at all. Best DEATH METAL to me would be first Obituary, first Amon demos Hellhammer - Apocalyptic Raids Followed closely by Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales. Not once in my life have I EVER considered Cannibal Corpse good/essential or ground breaking. Opinions though......they all stink like ass.
I was dragged to go see em in '08. Never witnessed a band so hateful towards their own fanbase 😂 The vocalist was drunkenly waving his figure at the crowd, calling them emo fags with flat-chested girlfriends, and then started chucking water bottles. Gotta say, it was pretty entertaining.
Idk why people get so pissed when i say Burzum doesn't really do anything for me. I don't deny that they were massively influential, its just that I don't like the ultra primitive production of it. Gimme stuff like Emperor, GBK, Bathory or Impaled Nazarene all day
Bro, Burzum never WERE, he WAS! Anyway, Impaled Nazarene all day!! Too many pussies shitting on this band, Top notch Nihilism, gotta love Mika Luttinen! Same going for Belial, Beherit, Sentenced, Thy Serpent... Perkele!
