This is my review of the iFi Audio LAN iSilencer.
The iSilencer is meant to filter noise from eithernet cables as well as regulate voltages.
In my system, I placed the iSilencer right after an ASUS RT-AX92U Mesh Node then a 3 ft Cat. 7 Ethernet cable to a Cambridge Audio Azur 851N Network Streamer / DAC.
I had great results in my set-up.
Check out the products here:
iFi Audio LAN iSilencer: amzn.to/41jCSzu
ASUS RT-AX92U Mesh Router 2 Pack: amzn.to/3KMaJMc
Cambridge Audio CXN V2 Network Streamer: amzn.to/3o0buIw
Wiim Pro Streamer: amzn.to/3Uorsbq
iFi Audio iPower X - Ultra Low Noise DC Power Supply: amzn.to/3ZX2H7q

Everything you have just said is very true, I put one in yesterday and I have cleaner sound more air and the timing sounds more on point then before, easy to hear the difference as you take it in and out.

Thank you and thanks for watching. I'm glad you had a good experience with the LAN iSilencer. Check out their power supplies if you have anything digital running on 3v to 15v as well!

I see you put the iSilencer on the output from your router. Doesn't it make better sense to put it on the input of your streamer? Ethernet cables are very susceptible to noise, so I figure it makes most sense to put the iSilencer at the end of the chain, not the beginning.

Hey @vread21 Yeah iFi suggests either location. I've even seen people use 2, with one on each side. But you're 100% correct. Or at least I agree with you 100% LOL. I'm not an electrical engineer so I won't say we're 100% correct, but it makes sense to me. I have mine on the router side for convenience. It was just easier to get to. And I don't have an RF issues in my home and I have my power cables at least 4 inches away from any speaker or interconnect so I don't have and EMI issues either. I use zip ties and hooks on the back of my furniture to hold the cables in place. And I use a good quality CAT7 cable, which have much better noise rejection because of the SSTP wiring, so I'm not too worried about external noise. But yeah, if someone has messy cabling, EMI might be a problem, especially with lower quality cables.

I've read at the router end. We shall see I'm waiting on one. Will try either end.

The more cables I shield the quieter my room becomes. It's now become so quiet there are times I'm unable to tell the difference whether my system is switched off or it's actually switched on but just on pause. And the startling thing about it I have 9 channels. In my experience interference is all from the cables!

Yeah, good shielded cables do definitely help, especially if you live in a noisy area like having high voltage electrical transformers close by or live closer to a broadcast studio. Or if your cables are close to you WIFI hub. The LAN iSilencer combats the culprits coming from the inside of the wire 🙂

This thing ROCKS! I have two ISPs in the house, Verizon and Xfinity. I bought three of these ifi devices, both networks got one at the router, and Katy bar the door! Both networks and video streamers are now much faster, and one troublesome box is much more stable, with fewer freezes on troublesome channels. Worth every penny!

Yeah, they aren't for every system. But when they work they're great! Thanks for watching 👍

@@RickRuizAudio Hallo Rick, I got the silencer today it did not fit in my router. I connected it to my streamer. My digital music came to live. More detaile in the highs and there is more separation. And this for 89 €. In shorr for me it was an upgrade. Thnx !

@@sirglaivius3460 Oh that's strange that it didn't fit your router. It looks to be a standard RJ45 connector. Maybe your router has a more recessed port that the thicker part of the Lan iSilencer interferes with. I'm glad it worked in your application! 🥳

Modem/router/switch Gateways are not audiophile grade and they do not care about eliminating 100% of the noise because they need to be cheap for the masses , we need them for the Packets of data they send to feed our streamers so why not isolate out the signal its the only thing you can do to make your source data better and they dont need Power because there is power over ethernet anyway but it is a passive filter . If a company were to sell an Audiophile grade switch/router it would more than likely have galvanic ports and more than not a better power supply . I also put a dc silencer feeding my DC on my Gateway from Ifi , I didn't notice anything like many other mods I do but in theory it makes a difference. before the lan Isilencer from Ifi come along there was only one other that I knew of and it was twice the price and it wasn't really meant for audiophiles it was meant for Telecom/data guys but audiophiles were using them cause they just work its not snake oil , I know Ifi being an audiophile company focuses on all the audiophile aspects that make these things great so its a no brainer for me and since my rig is 20k what's another $89.00 down the rabbit hole to filter the source data. They make cheap $12 galvanic isolators on amazon for your coax network and they work , PS audio sells them and there $50.00 (scum) , your coax network ties into your set top box/ cable box then your HDMI goes from your cable box into your receiver introducing noise into the system. simply take the coax off then put it on and listen at 2:00 am put your ear into the cone with no volume if you hear a difference you will know.

all my mods together sound amazing as far as noticing anything great by any one mod its tough I will admit , but the galvanic isolators for the coax lift issues with the cable company that you have no control over and they work really well I cant believe it took this long for them to come out with a lan silencer 2023.

Hdd noise yes, now all the sreaming services have jitter special in voices hzzzzz What about this how the if fix it? when it comes from the source? they are songs that don't have electric noise also. We are fishing songs in the sea of jitter
@RickRuizAudio
@RickRuizAudio 5 месяцев назад
You're right, it won't do anything for internal noise. This is just one step in many that can be takes I believe. As for the streaming services, they don't have the jitter, they simply serve the data, then your receiving device (streamer/DAC/computer/phone) then takes that data and converts it and there is where the jitter is. So for internal I believe that quieter power supplies help in co junction with better clocks in the DAC or a good DDC between streamer and DAC. But I'm with you on the jitter problem. 👍 Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!

Absolutely unnecessary and expensive. Unfortunately I bought it and I am not happy with it at all. Not only did it not improve anything, it even worsened the dynamics in the music. Make her sound dull and clipped.

Yeah, as with everything, Nothing works in every system. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Did you get it on Amazon? I always recommend that just because of their no questions return policy.

I trusted the good reviews but for me this device did not work well. It was not bought from Amazon and there is no way to return it.

I have bought an ipurifier before and sent it back. I think that ifi is the biggest ripoff out there for buyin tweaks.

People seem to be pretty split on this company. I personally like their ifi power supply. I only have the 12v. Idk if voltages matter. But they do seem to do something to the background in my main system. I wouldn't put it on my desktop system though. Thanks for your input!
