You forgotten to mention the double effect with double device
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 4 года назад
It is the 2X the strength of just one actually, they do the same thing, so the effect is similar when using both, just twice as strong

Hi, sadly I haven't tried that one in my system, so I can't say for sure From what most of my friends have been reporting, they are similar in overall results

What I dont get is that the USB-stream is digital, so the sound is produced by a CPU in the DAC that is decoding the signal. Shouldnt int be enough to just move the DAC further away from the computer and other electronic products? I should also need to change my USB 2.0 cable that is old and from some unknown device as well, becouse "jitter" and noise should build up there as well i guess. I use an Asus essence III and I sincerely doubt that the iFi iSilencer+ will alter the digital stream into the DAC in any way. I mean how can it!? xD
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 4 года назад
Those are some really good points! The main thing it does is that it eliminates the noise that is inherent to your USB cable power. The one thing in a PC that generates lots of noise is the PSU, or the power supply. Also the motherboiard has a lot of stuff going on at all times, and those also generate lots of noise, the iSilencer helps filter those and makes the sound cleaner. I would probably not purchase it for such an entry-level soundcard, you may not notice many differences, it is something that I've seen a lot of high-end enthusiasts being into, because the more expensive DACs tend to be a bit more sensitive to USB noise.

@@AudiophileHeaven If you have these problems, then the real problem is that your DAC or your amplifier are badly designed without proper grounding or signal isolation. Also if this is what is intended, why do they say this on the Amazon sales page? "And the iSilencer+ can be used between external hard drives and music servers, too"

This helps dramatically on my Samsung s20. The background is darker, there is more space between instruments and vocals, and everything is more organic. Highly recommended for phones.

Interesting, great review. How would iFi iSilencer + compare to Audioquest Jitterbug? I'm using the Jitterbug filter with the DAC Dragonfly 1.0 (old), connected to the SMSL SA100 amplifier, the sound quality is good and defined, but it's not pleasant, it sounds ''artificial'' and causes a little fatigue quickly, I exclude the possibility of problem with speakers, because they are Pioneers SB22 and have a very soft sound and I even have good cables. I wonder, would an iFi iSilencer + help with this ''harshness''?
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 4 года назад
Hi there! I suggest replacing the Dragonfly DAC rather than investing in more filtering, at this point, adding something like the iFi Hip DAC, or Earmen TR-AMP, or even something small like the Tempotec Sonata HD PRO would help way more than further filtering the power of your current setup. Audioquest is not very responsive in Romania, so I don't usually recommend them in particular...
@marcosr2

@@AudiophileHeaven Nice, Interesting. I search about Tempotec Sonata HD PRO I found it cheap, is it sound is it bright and tiring or is it more balanced sound? can you tell me that it works the same way as Dragonfly? (I currently use Dragonfly 1.0 connected to the amplifier with Pioneer SB22 speakers, which are 6 ohms)
@AudiophileHeaven
@AudiophileHeaven 4 года назад
@@marcosr2 Hi, yes, the Tempotec Sonata Hd PRO works the same! It should sound a bit more natural, a bit bright still, but should still be an improvement in the overall detail, clarity and refinement over your current DF 1.0. Even if it is still not exactly the smoothest out there, the treble will be less harsh, which should solve the issues you were having!

So... This helps get rid of horrible buzzing sound from the speakers when gaming or moving the mouse or even scrolling in OS ? In games its most noticable and sometimes even overpowers the actual sound in-game. I have a fairly expensive DAC (Soundcard) connected to a fairly expensive amp and speaker setup. The DAC is connected to the computer via USB. I get HORRIBLE buzzing sounds as mentioned. Will this help,or is there better alternatives?

Really sad to hear about your experience, it sounds like something I experienced with impedance adapters. In the end you can't really isolate noise, only need a better DAC from the start
@NTRSN-Archive

Well it’s is meant for reducing ground noise from psu on laptops . Its decoupling the ground from the usb audio interface and laptop . If you use the battery from the laptop you don’t get this interference from the power supply.
