Outshines many expensive DAPs. It's about as close to reference as you'll find without sounding dull 🥳 The only letdown is battery-time. Please ifi we needed double the battery life 🥺
This is the best looking dac/amp from iFi! I wanted it so much but got the iDSD Signature instead as I needed the higher power output for driving my planar magnetic cans.
I managed to pick up an as new xduoo xd05 bal for 200 and opp amp upgraded it with the burston hybrid opp amps and it sounds sweet. A lot of my listening time at present is nomadic inside and outside the house. I am torn between this and the mojo 2 as I am also due DAC upgrade on my sadly underused desk stack. The xduoo blows this out the water for power but both of the options I am considering I am informed have better sound capability, not asking you to remove my purchase decision but be very interested in your thoughts if you are kind enough to share them.
Both the xDuoo and the ifi output 1000mW output power, while I haven't used the balanced the gryphon has a few more bells and whistles and is definitely great out the box. On paper the gryphon is similar but if always has more finesse in it build quality.
xduoo puts out 1W constant not peak due to all the caps they mange to cram in, also on xduoo plus bal youcan boost current and voltage to over twice the Gryphon, sound wise even with opp amps swap, ifi owned it most agree, I'm on the fence
Hey, I returned gryphon because I thought it's not worth it's price also not much better than BTR5 2021, does BTR7 sound as good as gryphon? Also is better than BTR5? Or are there any other options even a DAP that acts like every bluetooth dac/amp? I've excluded dethonray Pegasus sg-1 and topping G5 because G5 lacks functions and sg-1 units are having battery issues.
They're similar in sound , I think the TRI is a little warmer but both are more towards the detailed and neutral signature. The Gryphon has slightly better technicalities as well as some great features still I do like the TRI TK-2 as the best in that price range
It should just fine , remember it is a portable and those are Planar so it's not going to be super loud. For reference it drives my HiFiMan Ananda, HE-X4, and Fostex T50rp just fine
@@thunderstar254 They're both built pretty well. The Gryphon is totally future proof . I believe the signature has a larger battery and it's definitely a tank . As for sound my personal opinion the Gryphon just a little better sounding and technically better
