To be honest the second he started laughing I thought "oh god this is another one of those instances where they turn the stoic and cool character into some sort of deranged clown" but.... it... it worked? I thought the delivery was great, actually, especially as the music rises and he goes into the "show me your worth, Mythos, THAT I MIGHT REVEL IN IT!!" line. VA did a great job, tbh.

Just a shame it’s so boring between them.

I like how when that happened he doesn't get angry but rather overjoyed since he admits he never had an opponent so strong and powerful before and since his Dominant is named after a God of War (who's fated to die in battle) it makes sense that he would revel against a worthy opponent after years of easily defeating anyone he comes across. My guess he thought Bahamut was his rival but once Ultima revealed to him about Clive/Mythos he decided that he would be a more worthy adversary

Actually he does one shot Clive if you don’t go through the purple bar fast enough. It’s the only attack in the game ultima actually tries to stop someone from doing with “quieting”. That’s a scary thought.

That’s exactly what I thought! I was hoping we were gonna be fighting eachother around the castle structure while his horse is galloping. Then after killing the horse, ifrit & odin duke it out one on one like Kaiju versions of Dante & Vergil!!!

Idk, I honestly thought the more personal fight was great. The other Eikon fights happened as a result of the Dominants losing control in some way, but Barnabus had complete mastery his Eikon. While I do wish Odin was given more love (him splitting the ocean was fucking sick), I love what we got here: a huge Vergil homage and a proper rival battle

Plus, him shifting back and forth casually mid fight is Hella fucking intimidating

Odin in god of war was very weak. He should have put more of a fight.

@@genshinsagehe wasn’t threatening at all, I found everything about him disappointing. For some reason western media loves portraying Odin as this feeble old man, I never understood it. God of War Ragnarok treats all the gods like normal people with special powers, there is honestly very little that is god like about them in Rognarok and the 2018 release.

@@MarcusSanchez2525 To be fair the norse gods are depicted in mythology as more humanlike while Greek Gods are more elemental and abstract beings.

Final Fantasy Odin has always been its own thing. Same with Ifrit shiva and co. They are based on mythology but have their own FF look. Odin is usually just a silent horseman in FF where as he’s more of a wine drinking elder God in mythology.

This was my thought. While it's fine this fight should have come before even titan. It's definitely the hardest fight cause the eikons fights aren't that hard but geez it felt underwhelming after coming off the titan and bahumut high

He is considered one of the weaker Eikons. Especially compared to Odin.

Not killing Eikons. With Clive as Mythos, it's his "job" to absorb the Eikon's powers.

Not every fight needs that, this was a personal fight so barnabas and clive made more sense.

imo i think they wanted to focus in hard on barnabas rather than odin so they could only do that if it was a 1v1 as clive rather than ifrit. with bahamut, you already spent a good chunk of the game getting to know dion so all they needed to do was focus on the spectacle for that fight.

This was a personal fight between barnabas and clive not eikons.
