Excellent video, as a student paramedic I have found training for the igel often doesn't go much beyond "lubricate, follow the roof of the mouth, secure, it will work" when in practice things often aren't that simple.
Lmao. Not in CPR. If they’re gagging because you’re pushing on their chest, that doesn’t count. They’re literally dead, if you are doing CPR without an advanced airway because it’s “CONTRAINDICATED HURR DURRRRR” you have no common sense and you are killing people.
It would have been nice to have some suggestions for when then iGel is not seating properly. I worked an arrest where we simply could not get it to seat properly and the air kept bypassing no matter how many times we tried to re-insert/re-position. To me this is pretty much the most critical issue we can run into and it's not even mentioned here.
After watching a another video, I found out it may be a matter of sizing. Even though a patient's weight may be in the igel size parameters, their airway may be a different size. Try larger or smaller?
