The reason the ice gets frosty or clear depends on the water. I use kangen water from my Kangen water machine which deionized water without bleach and all that bullshits they add on the tap water so the ice is clear and shinny.

can somebody tell me if this machine is made to leave power on daily or is it to use on occassion?
@SKLIFEstyle
@SKLIFEstyle 2 года назад
From what I see in the manual it says to unplug when not in use...and don't leave unattended but seems more for cya purposes. They do say don't use extension cords on it for long periods and watch it when using them. I haven't had it long enough to say for sure. But I have left it on for a day or two and it just blinks as it's full and finally makes more when melted. I would think powering it down when not in use is best just so the heating/cooling element isn't constantly trying to run, but again nothing has gone wrong within a day or so. I do always leave it plugged in though. Perhaps someone else will have a little more info for ya. Thanks for watching. Be sure to Subscribe!**SK**

es muy comun que marque add wather y lo mas probable es que tenga falso contacto en el panel donde se conecta ka bombita de agua

I have the same one,but my problem is how do you clean yours ? It’s very hard to get to some of the parts without taking the machine apart.
@SKLIFEstyle
@SKLIFEstyle Год назад
Oh agreed, I am not disassembling that either. My wife has small brushes for detail cleaning of stuff under the sink. Nothing really unique though other than that for tight little spots.

This ice maker is trash. I can't even sugar coat it. I wasted my money on it. It gets confused and has ice all caught up in the moving parts. It's painful to watch. I wound up with a Frigidaire 40 lb cube ice maker, and that thing doesn't miss a beat, and has no moving parts. I'm sorry I even tried the bullet type machine.

Ours seems to still work okay but I can see what you mean, I could see it eventually freezing up parts more than it does. I wish I had room for a huge unit. Thanks for the feedback and adding to the convo for people. Happy 4th of July and be safe. Be sure to Subscribe! **SK**

@@SKLIFEstyle I just discovered that the FOOING HZB-18F Icemaker is the EXACT same machine as the Frigidaire 40 lb under a different brand, and typically sells for at least 50.00 cheaper. I bought the FOOING also to use outside, and there is absolutely no difference between them besides the brand. They don't have any moving parts like bullet ice machines which is great.
@SKLIFEstyle
@SKLIFEstyle Год назад
@SemperSaint I will have to keep that ind mind, thanks! I hope to get my fridge machine fixed but I still think there is a need for a good external one too.
@SemperSaint

@@SKLIFEstyle I believe in fairness, so I will say that over time, the IGLOO got better, and more consistent, but it still doesn't do as well as the trickle type icemakers, and certainly can't match the output. So, the IGLOO isn't really "trash" like I said, but it's not very robust with it's ice volume. It may be that I didn't let it sit long enough before operation. The compressor oil has to settle in these things if they've been lying sideways, or upside down.
@SemperSaint
@SemperSaint Год назад
The FOOING came in, and just as I thought, the Frigidaire is just a rebranded FOOING. EXACT same machine for 99 bucks.

I have a similar one currently. And my biggest downfall with it is when I fill an ice box with the ice it always ends up fusing the ice together and then I have to chisel it out. Have you encountered this? Or do you use the unit strictly for ice and use what is in the machines?
@SKLIFEstyle
@SKLIFEstyle 2 года назад
Yea that happens to us too. I find while making & dumping whole baskets I will just crack the ice two or three times with a heavy spoon for the last batch. If we do 3 or 4 batches and do nothing and come back the next day to use it that's when the ice is stuck really bad and you have to work to break it up. But between buckets it's just froze enough to need a tap or two and too cold to re-fuse again. I also tilt the bucket and drain the water on the bottom for two or three seconds before dumping it in the ice tray in our freezer to reduce chances of it all sticking as well.**SK**

@@SKLIFEstyle oh ok was hoping I wasn't the only one 😆 also thanks floor the reply I appreciate it! I was getting annoyed with it freezing so I started filling zip lock bags and having 10 bags saved up at a time and then you just tap them on the table and empty them into an ice bin in the freezer

@@MrBears1024 I hear that. I should look into fixing our ice maker in the freezer but we wanted one of these for a while with camping and trips and stuff so I figured might as well put it to use now more than ever. Overall not that bad...we can usually run it a quarter of a day and have enough ice all week. Appreciate ya watching & commenting. Be sure to Subscribe!

@@SKLIFEstyle absolutely decent overall and definitely getting a sub from me. Also I noticed when I was using it heavily that black dots would start appearing on the plastic and to get deep in the back is somewhat annoying. But I guess cleaning it every 3 weeks isn't too bad I found white vinegar and or lime juice a decent cleaner. I Also pour some in the water fill spot and mix it to cycle it a few times so it also cleans the lines that feed the water
