John, if we wanted to create a one time code for a handyman to access the lockbox do we have to have the lockbox near our phone/app or can we set up a one time code from our office when the lockbox is 20 miles away?

@@TomasSchramme You or your phone do not need to even be in the same country. Nor does the lockbox need any internet connectivity whatsoever. And, the person you are giving access does not have to install an app. You use the igloohome app on your phone to generate a PIN code, this can be a permanent, duration, recurring, or one time PIN. You can set it up days in advance or for instant access if someone is standing at the lock. Common scenario: Someone will text me while I am at work “Hey John I’m at the compost area I need access” I will generate a pin using the app, copy it to the clipboard and then paste it in a text message and send it back to them. Whole process takes less than a minute. A one time use PIN may only have six or seven characters while a more complex PIN generated for days in the future in a specific time window or number of uses may have nine or more characters. The lockbox uses an algorithm to decipher the pin. It is great technology.

You are suggesting that the length and sequence of digits will be translated to: (1) Access Type (length or one time); (2) Length of time once first used or a specific data and time range? I assume it has some memory on that stores the initial date and time from first sync?

You can sync when you’re next to it with your phone. We automatically delete pin codes once the Airbnb reservation is over. The process is completely automated for the host. You don’t need to create or delete PIN codes. For real time updates you can purchase our WiFi bridge. Think of it like a bank token that you’d use to log in to your bank account. @@Enzo8mmSA know that limitation does not apply to the one-time auto-generated pin. So yes you are able to provide access to someone from out of state as long as you have paired the lock to your phone. Which is the first step

App works with either Android or iOS (iPhone) and there's no monthly charge. If there was, I would mention it in my review! 🙂

@@AskDaveTaylor Thanks ! I wasn't clear but it is the version of the operating system I would like to know. As an example, I wanted to install the Zillow 3d tour ap on my Android phone, but the Android version on it was too old for that ap to work. I cannot find this info for the lock. I don't want to buy it and then find out it needs Android 12 . I am not the kind of person who replaces my cellphone very often . I have an old Samsung Galaxy 4 .

Gotcha. For that level of information you really need to reach out to the company as there's no way I can tell by examining the app itself.

You can generate one time and duration pincodes even if you’re not next to the Keybox. Each Keybox has a cypher built in at production. When you set it up on your phone, then the cypher is synced. You don’t need to be next to the Keybox to generate pin codes

I believe it's waterproof but don't know about the operating temperature extremes. I've used it in 33º or thereabouts weather without an issue. Did you try having it in sunlight even though it was 29º? Check with igloohome too. Good luck!

@@AskDaveTaylor Thank you for the reply I used a heat gun yesterday to warm up the internal mechanism to no avail still didn’t open however the blue light comes on. Finally I called Igloohome there recommendation is not to use keypad in extreme cold or very wet conditions. I guess I will have to wait until spring to try again.

You cannot. It's a bluetooth only device, so if you're not in range, it won't be able to communicate with your device.
