Thanks for the reaction! Bit of trivia, I believe they wrote this song as a tribute to the Ukrainian armed forces fighting the Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. "Alga" IIRC is an old battle cry in one of the Turkic languages. They have another video, "Seytanu Akbar", where she leans a lot harder into the harsh vocals.
Alga, as far is I understand was about the resistance of Crimea Tatar against Russian empire/communist russia. Alga is a Crimean Tatar word, meaning "Attack!". The lyrics also speak of "godless bastards" (communists/Russian Empire) setting foot on their (Tatar) holy land and that the invaders should put "their double headed eagle up their ass and run". I asked the band, back in the day and they implied it is the case. Back than even talking about freeing Crimea from Russian state by force was a taboo in Ukraine (because no one wanted to provoke Russia to do even more damage, well we all know how that turned out) so the song was awesome because of that too.
This is such a good band, they've always had their own sound and they put out a lot of content, all the time. They have way better songs than this one, too. Whoever requested this, thanks for making my day
In my opinion Ignea is one of the most if not the most underrated band that i know. I hope their collaboration with Napalm Records will bring them many new fans :D
This was from their debut album and as good as that was, I loved their album last year much more The Realms of Fire and Death which has Black Flame in English but also in their native tongue which is amazing and preferable to me. Jinnslammer is also a great song
Singer has a great voice and the song has a cool vibe overall, but it didn't click for me. I thought the constant power chord riffing was repetitive (not a fan of these riffs, to begin with) and the song felt a bit too cozy. But judging from the comments, the band's resonant in the people. Good for them.
Oh yes, this is one of my favorites I've heard from them 💕 mixing symphonic metal has to be one of the biggest challenges, with everything going on, you have to pull some things back in the mix and play with dynamics a lot to make sure sure the right things cut through at the right times.
Fantastic track in all respects. I've watched a few songs by these guys. I loved this but I agree with you both; the symphonic beginning was too long and so it seemed to be a bit disconnected from the rest of the song. They are Ukrainian. Helle Bogdanova's vocals were angelic. Cheers guys !
Love this band. IT's the best female metal voice in Ukraine. Please make reaction to Teren band from Ukraine. They are not so famous but have good chance
Might want to do yourself a favor and check out Warrior Path. They had Beast In Black’s Yannis Papadopoulos on their first album and have Daniel Heiman on their second one.
Ignea sounds very soviet style in this song. It brings me to this period of my childhood. But I don't want to return to that times. My choice is Ukrainian liberty and democracy! 💛💙🤘!
