The PMQ EVO M car runs a full suite of MoTeC electronics, and Mark explains the massive advantages of ditching your fuse boxes and relays, and running a solid-state PDM (Power Distribution Module), data-logging via the C125 dash and most importantly, using the new M150 ECU GPRP (paddle shift package) to its fullest potential to control the pneumatic paddle-shifted sequential dog box.

Really enjoyed this one 👍🏻 two of the more advanced features of modern engine control systems were broken down to basics and that has been a huge plus. Far too often you can hear inventive explanations regurgitated, however, you can Mark explain things from a pure pragmatic perspective which is critical to customers investing in this technology. At times the practicality can seem a little far fetched and happenings unfold in a wizard like manner but here you have a unique opportunity to hear a nuts and bolts reality. Time Attack 2015 has since passed quite some time ago but this interview was well worth the wait, nice 👍🏻

Great interviewing skills. Andre normally strikes a lovely balance at leading his interviewee to divulge just enough detail to entertainingly explain the principals in play. Put him with an eloquent engineer with an equally good feel for an amateurs knowledge appetite and he lets him run perfectly. When the tuning and motorsports coaching is done I think Andre has a very bright future on TV , move over Ted Kravitz on F1 👍

I use closed loop on gear barrel position that takes reference voltage on preloaded lever and works on a percentage change to next gear, happens live for each gear. I run my sequential on a Syvecs like this. 60ms shifts are common and smooth as butter. Downchange can still use closed loop barrel position while blipping. Revlimit based on post downshift rpm as described here I find does not work well in my box, I use manual blip target and end the blip on closed loop barrel position, but as said each set up is different.

Andre At what point in my clutch pedals travel do I want my flat shift torque cut to engage? The second I touch the pedal? Or once the actual clutch starts to disengage? Wondering if you had a good rule of thumb for this. Thanks, Reed

if you run a manual gearbox with synchros, it often works best with a timed cut. So it does not matter because you press the clutch so fast, that when you tuned the timing for the cut its always the same speed you press anyway. I have a micro switch thats reacting as soon the pedal is pressed like e few cm. I used a timed cut for about 200ms and it worked really well flatshifting my m3 gearbox. Felt like power was almost instant on the next gear. Hope this helps.
