Thanks again. I tried to purchase the Dorman cylinder in your video- they don't have anymore, they have another one for $155. I know that Dorman offers good replacement parts. I will look in a few other places and follow your video installing it.
Did not know about the sheer bolts started working on mine and discovered that there is no way to remove the entire switch unless you do what you explained in this video thanks i didn't know how it come out
The part with that the two wires come out of? That is the whole assembly for the ignition lock cylinder. If you buy one that is “Ignition lock cylinder” you get the entire piece that is in the video.
Thank you for the video. Is it possible in the 97 pickup to only change the key cylinder? My key is worn out and getting a copy doesn't work, but everything else is working. I tried key shops and all the keys they copied didn't work . I have search for videos to remove, only the cylinder but have not found any.
That is the issue that was going on with my truck. The key was severely worn. But it worked on the doors just fine. Also the pins in the ignition cylinder were too worn out. I could start the truck with anything. A paper clip, a screw driver, etc…. That is why I just changed the whole ignition lock cylinder. In doing so though, you would want to rekey the door lock to the new key or you have to carry two keys. The original and the new. So doing the ignition lock cylinder is replacing the key cylinder. I hope that answers your question. You get the whole assembly I showcase.
Everything you see in the video from the factory one I took out comes with the new OEM. It’s plug and play nothing else needed. At least when solving my problem.
