The light in the dash monitors the pressure of the oil that lubricates the Torque Amplifier. That oil is supplied by the MCV pump that is behind the MCV valve body. It also provides the steering, braking and the TA hydraulic pressure. The pump you worked on here, is the Hitch pump, that provides the 3 point and the remote valves. Good job on the repair.
Good repair. FYI if it blows again look up that pump on a 1586 parts break down it will have a Teflon seal inside that oring. I always put that teflon seal inside all the pumps I install teflon takes the pressure spikes better.
At least you were Fortunate or prudent enough to have a tractor that you did not have to split to access the Hydrulic Pump, hope your 1086 is back in the Field soon. Regards
Out 1086 had the piston style pump. The o ring that goes against the housing kept blowing. We had to put a Teflon o ring in and machine out the housing. Now we got the gear style pump. Had to change it over.
Just subbed your channel. 👍👍😎 a friend of mine says the hydraulic pump went out on his 686. What you've done I I had to do on my 445 Moline, O rings and gasket. Very informative! Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you have the Big Old Ih Hydraulic Outlets still and those adapters tend to take a bit of flow away so you should look into the kit to change those out to the ISO style its not a hard thing to change out the parts in those outlet bodies
Jacob...... When inserting something like that into a recessed area you can use some long bolts to give you a little leverage and a hand hold. Start the long bolts then slide it on the bolts into place. Also after 32 years in aerospace assy be careful of your oring choices. I think you are safe there(not the mfg. orings) but we run 3 types of oil in the aircraft parts I build and they take three different orings. Certain types of oils can actually degrade and destroy oring material. Looks like you are using the standard "buna" type orings. Never fails repairs like that are almost always in a bad spot. Good repair. By the way did you make a connection with the man who had the 800 series planters?
Didn't know if you were aware or not but they have a Teflon seal available to replace that blown o ring that you changed. Case IH has it as well as some aftermarket companies. Its a pretty common problem on them 86 series.
Great video thanks for showing! Don’t you just love getting that old girl up and running again as she should without having to plug in a laptop or sending her off to the dealership to get stripped down and costing a small fortune! Well done! How is seeding progress? We have had our first rain in 5 weeks today so happy farmers!!
I feel like I have had five weeks of straight rain.... Not quite, but we've had a couple overly wet periods this spring. I hope this next dry week to get the rest of the grains planted. All of the vegetables are in.
Two things first next time instead of drilling out a washer use a chainsaw sharpening file they were good to enlarge holes just a little at a time I use them on roller chain connector links and second try using ether or starting fluid on your hydraulic fittings both male and female ends works good to get out fine particles of dust and dissipates quickly
If the suction tube didn’t line up and you over filled by 5 gallons. Does that mean that the fluid wouldn’t be filtered before going into the pump? In other words does the suction tube come from the filter?
That sounds fancy, Whats the kit? I need something like that for the steering box on the 6610. The two big o rings at the end of the rock shaft are sorta metric, but not really, and definitely now an SAE size. It's an aftermarket box made overseas.
Boehm Farm ....Its a Loctite 112 .I seen Steven Cox use it and I had to get one.Saved my butt in the field several times already. It was around $80 on Amazon.
Can you tell when how I test the actual pump. I have low psi and trying to see if pumo is,culprit. I was tkld the submerge pump and roll it and should blow my finger off. It blow pretty hard but dunno it is enough. Any better test?
Your work shop looks a lot like mine. Just impossible to keep everything in it's place when your busy working with the stuff your repairing. I'm a pack rat. My Moto is throw it away today. Need it tomorrow!!!!!
