Got an email last night that the bearings will be back i n stock in 30 days, so I will go down that path. I have heaps of other repairs to do to my tractor any way and its only a B grade tractor now so it wont matter if it sits around in bits for a while.
Hi mate , those bearings are still available from mid west steering in the USA for $13. Currently out of stock though. So I may be going down the same path as you. To the person who asked about the oil leak, that would be coming from the orbital steering valve below the steering column. It will need a seal kit which is best done by an expert.
Thank you, I am suprised that the list price of the bearings is so reasonable. However I am glad that I went to the trouble of doing this conversion, the stearing wheel is steady as a rock now. Good luck, Jon
The sobering thing about these 74 series tractors is that I remember driving them when they were new modern tractors! Yes I do like them, very usable tractors with a still fairly up to date back end.
Great video, could you please advise if steering oil could find its way up the inside shaft as I have a 674 which appears to have an oil leak around this column ? Your advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
