IHC 4/6 DROP FRONT INSTALL WITH BELLTECH SHOCKS Chevy Silverado 1999-2006 Finished Product Reveal!!! Belltech Street Performance Front Shocks used in this build amzn.to/38ToZTa
FYI, IHC was completely out of their brand of coil spring spacer. So that is why I was sent the 1” coil spacer that was shown in the video. After talking to IHC I found this out along with the fact that their coil pring spacer comes with instructions to stall it at the top of the spring in the spring pocket. So I had to pull some of the front end back apart to take the spring out and move it to the top. This did raise the front end some and moved it to the 4” drop up front instead of 5”. I’ll also mention that at 5” inches of drop up front, I was unable to get the camber better than -1.25 degrees which is not close enough to where you need to be.
I dropped mine 22 years ago with Western Chassis. It maintained the sway bar with shorter end links. The tires rub when you hit a bump, you can’t stop it completely, so I have learned to live with it. The flip kit required a 2° wedge to correct the pinion angle and stop the vibration. Still driving it today!
Your video helped make a decision on how much to lower my truck (2006 Silverado) I was thinking doing the 2/4because I thought the 4/6 would be to low. But after watching your video it looks good and doesn’t seem like it will be to low.
I am glad that I could help! If you watch the IHC 4/6 DROP REVIEW video then you can see it a bit more all finished up! Some good information in there too!
You weren't kidding. Best on RU-vid hands down. Thank you for such an informative video! My 2000 Silverado is next. I feel like I can tackle it thanks to you.
You’re welcome! I really like my Milwaukee grease gun. www.amazon.com/dp/B00396JTKO/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_1489SC2WDTMCDW5V0JBT?linkCode=ml2&tag=whiplashmotor-20
Another great video, I am going to be ordering their adjustable upper control arms for my 04 escalade, to get the camber correct when 5+ inches dropped in the front. They should put links to your videos on their site for installation instructions. Truck looks great but the way!
It looks so much better. It looks tough. Im having my 07 classic done next week, a 4/6 Beltech kit. Im have 20s but I hate my wheels, I don't know what kind your wheels are but they look awesome.
hey man, great truck. i’m 15 and i’m looking to buy my first truck. i’m probably gonna get a bubble eye. any tips or anything you think i should know abt trucks or anything in general, maybe something to help on my truck build journey, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks. They are great trucks and they last a long time. I have videos here on the channel of some things to pay attention to. The oil pressure and Corvette servo are 2 huge things to do for longevity of the motor and transmission. You want hot idle oil pressure to be over 25-30psi preferably.
Yes they are installed backwards. They are designed to throw debris and hot air outward towards the wheel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-krLOy90KrvY.html
@jakerisner4139 slotted rotors may need to be installed in a specific direction depending on the design of the rotor: Slots machined in opposite direction of cooling vanes: The slots should lean towards the front of the car. Straight internal cooling vanes: The direction of the slots is a matter of personal preference. Curved vane rotors: The vanes at the top of the rotor should tilt rearward. If they tilt forward, the rotor is installed backwards.
Did you need to relocate shock mounts at all? I’m getting ready to do the IHC 4/6 with beltech street performance drop shocks all around, wondering if the ride would be improved if the mounts were relocated?
Looks good I’m looking to drop mine little bit lower any recommendations on a kit would be nice I’m running 285/40/24 and rear 305/40/24 would appreciate the feedback for my Chevy Silverado ls 2017 Open for recommendations daily driven with magnuson 1900 thanks
@@whiplashtv2022 what do you think about a 5/7 drop I live in California some of the roads don’t help at all you think that would be to low don’t get me wrong 4/6 drop is 🔥 to I have a 5/6 now
What type of grease did you use on the bushings for the upper and lower control arms? I got a IHC 3/5 kit I'll be installing on my 94 ex-cab OBS chevy soon and I want make sure I use the right stuff
The nuts that the lower shock bolts go to are welded onto the lower control arm. You can see them in this video and the rear installation video when I unbox everything.
They are 20x8.5” and I can’t remember for sure on the offset, but this is the video on the wheels/tires and I mentioned it here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cOgynHSOh04.htmlsi=rMIPhcLttbK68bOa
I don’t think it matters. The lower control arms I know it mattered and they had a “D” and a “P” for driver side and passenger side. I don’t think the uppers had that. If they don’t have those special stickers then it shouldn’t matter.
Well, the reverse of how they were installed is to remove one of the upper or lower ball joints from off of the spindle and slide the shock and sping out. This is only because the Belltech Street Performance shock body is bigger than stock. If you use the stock shock, like their kit is designed for, then you can do it like normal because the hole in the bottom control arm is big enough for the stock shock.
Yes, as long as your truck is a single cab. If you have an ext cab then I am not sure if they use the same shock or if they have a different one with stronger valving for the extra weight.
The Silver Belltech Street Performance shock are an upgrade over the stock fronts as I show in the video. The IHC kit comes with rear drop shocks. So you don’t need Belltech shocks in the back. You could get QA1 adjustable shocks and that would be an upgrade beyond those.
I haven’t tried those so I am not sure. I used the 0-4” drop because I was going down 4” and wanted it as firm as possible. They rode great and not at all harsh. In fact I could have handled more firmness.
@@whiplashtv2022 Ah ok gotcha, Im about to order the kit for mine and don’t know if I should go with the 0-4” or the 4” - 5” ones up front, I really appreciate the help man!
You’re welcome. Thanks for subscribing. I have a lot more videos of the Cateye build here on the channel and bought a 2001 Chevy RCSB Silverado that I am fixing up as well. I have probably uploaded 75-90 videos since this one, so be sure to go to the channel and check them out.
These drop shocks are for the 4”/6” drop. They rode very good. The next level up in ride would be something like the QA1 compressor adjustable shocks that I put on our 2 Door Tahoe in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l5Gf_oSoC4I.html
@@whiplashtv2022Hey man i lowered my truck to a 5/7 with the ihc kit. I used the rear shocks that came with the kit but in the front I’m running the oem shocks. I’m trying to get Belltechs for the front. Do I need to get oem shocks or the 5in drop shocks for the front ?
@@Piyi_1 I ran the Belltech 0-4” Street Performance drop shocks, and there is a link in the video description to those shocks. Just click on the link and you can order them.
Ey bro Im about to do this but I’m not adding that spacer to the springs so I get the 5” drop. Do you think I should use the same 0-4” drop shocks you have or should I get the 5-7” belltech nitrodrop 2 shocks
The Nitro Drop shocks are a step down from the Belltech Street Performance silver shocks. Out back this kit comes with shocks from IHC that did a great job.
Different brands drop the vehicle different ways. This truck has over 200k miles and needed new control arm bushings so I decided to go with a drop kit that uses control arms. Only IHC and DJM use control arms. IHC control arms fix the “chevy lean” so I went with them. Bell Tech is a good company and will use spindles and springs. It really just depends on what you want.
@@whiplashtv2022 oh I see, mine has 130k miles, if I were to get a IHC drop wouldn’t I need springs? And the shocks I can get them from bell tech front and back or what do you recommend doing, I wanna go a 4/6
@@jesusduarte1251 no springs needed at all with the IHC Kit. IHC kit will need those 1” isolators to make it a 4” drop in the front. I just called them yesterday and they said that they install the isolator on top of the spring in the frame spring pocket. So I may do that to raise the front end a tad. I am sitting around 4.5/7 honestly. Maybe even closer to 4.75” down in the front because the 1” isolators don’t even get tight in the spring when they are in the middle. So I say all that to say this, prepare for the front end to potentially get a little lower than 4”.
@@whiplashtv2022 oh okay and overall how does it ride? Any issues or anything? And if I were to buy the IHC kit, I could use belltech shocks instead of the ones it comes with right ?
Overall it rides well. I used Belltech Street performance shocks in the front as seen in the video because their kit doesn’t come with front shocks because front shocks aren’t a necessity. Their kit comes with rear shocks as seen in the rear end video, but you can use different shocks if you would like.
@@whiplashtv2022 yea i got 3” drop control arms i installed literally everything just not the shocks … i tryed fitting them last and the shock doesnt reach … i even lifted it from the spindle and it got it a bit more in there just not enough to fit the rubber and nut
